Schubert wrote Winterreise in 1827, about a year before his death.The texts are poems by Wilhelm Müller who died in the year that Schubert wrote Winterreise.Schubert found the first twelve poems under the title Wanderlieder von Wilhelm Müller. Die Winterreise in 12 Liedern in an almanack (Urania. Taschenbuch auf das Jahr 1823) published in Leipzig in 1823. It was after he set these, in February 1827, that he discovered the full series of poems in Müller's book of 1824, Poems from the posthumous papers of a travelling horn-player, dedicated to the composer Carl Maria von Weber, as a pledge of his friendship and admiration. Weber died in 1826. On 4 March 1827, Schubert invited a group of friends to his lodgings intending to sing the first group of songs, but he was out when they arrived, and the event was postponed until later in the year, when the full performance was given.This arrangement is made for SATB and can be sung with the original accompaniment by Schubert but there is also a set of parts for Wind-instruments. Duration 3:30 A Child Is Born is a truly beautiful picture—sacred or secular—of the Advent story painted from the enduring viewpoint of his mother, Mary. Written in 1969 by jazz trumpeter Thad Jones. The lyrics were added independently by Alec Wilder after he heard the Thad Jones - Mel Lewis Orchestra perform it. The song has been described by Bob Yurochko (with contributor Wynton Marsalis) in A Short History of Jazz as a “beautiful ballad of mainstream jazz. This arrangement begins with a quiet intro in which both the piano and the Bb Instrument touch very lightly on Silent Night. The easily memorized single stanza is sung first by the altos, who are then joined by and succeeded by the sopranos and then deftly handed off to altos, tenors and basses who are subsequently involved in each four-part cadence point well as other unison and two-part sections. The halved repeat of the stanza can be a very nice piano feature or, optionally a Bb instrument—Flugelhorn (even a muted Trumpet) a Bb Clarinet or a Bb tenor saxophone can supply the solo with the voices singing the very light background. The key change is kept simple, with a descending scale into the new key. The final section makes additional mention of STILLE NACHT as well as echoing the intro at the jazz ending. Still, the instrumental part remains optional and the chord symbols make it easy to include string bass or even gentle jazz guitar (drums on this should, of course be mainly light brushes). The vocal parts are limited to practical ranges and, while there is divisi in the soprano part, each voice is always easily sung). The accessible accompaniment has comparatively little movement in the left hand beyond the middle of a typical measure, especially when there are technical requirements in the right hand. #choral #jazz choral #church choral #liturgical choral.

Psalm 23 would fit into many church services. Performing rights by August Wine Publishing, B.M.I. Larry Schacher on Facebook. The recorded lyrics are available on Psalm 23 baritone solo. The voices on this recording are synths. Larry Schacher is a multi-instrumentalist, vocalist, arranger and composer. Larry is fluent on piano, sax, clarinet, flute, guitar and bass. While in college, Larry also learned the violin, viola, trumpet, trombone, and bassoon.Larry taught public school music, and gifted classes in music for high schoolers at Eastern Oregon University, and Montana State; Larry also taught adult classical and folk guitar classes at Mt. Hood Community College. Larry also developed a rock and roll boot camp for middle schoolers that ran for several years during spring breaks at the Overlake School in Redmond, Wa. Larry was commissioned to to write the Overlake School anthem. Larry’s students have earned scholarships to the Berkeley School of music; attended the Thornton School of music; New York University and many others. Larry is a recording studio musician and besides the 5 albums he has published on CDbaby, he has appeared on many other albums, produced jingles for commercials that received air play in the Seattle market, and was the pianist for a syndicated gospel TV show. Larry has performed from Hawaii to New York city. The inspiration for my Missa Pro Defunctis (2018) was Fauré's Requiem in which he ignored the fire and brimstone text of the Dies irae and Tuba mirum in the Sequence of the Requiem Mass. And consequently he created a work that is peaceful, tranquil and uplifting. I'd like to think of death in that way.So, I proceeded by taking the exact text that Fauré used in his work, and instead of a large chorus and full orchestra I decided to do a chamber version. It is scored for SATB (single voices), flute, clarinet, string quartet, double bass and harp.The movements, as in the Fauré, are:1. Introit and Requiem2. Offertory3. Santus 4. Pie Jesu5. Agnus Dei6. Libera me7. In paradisumThe entire work has a duration of ca. 29 minutes.Missa Pro Defunctis (2018) is dedicated to the residents in the Protestant Cemetery in Rome.

The inspiration for my Missa Pro Defunctis (2018) was Fauré's Requiem in which he ignored the fire and brimstone text of the Dies irae and Tuba mirum in the Sequence of the Requiem Mass. And consequently he created a work that is peaceful, tranquil and uplifting. I'd like to think of death in that way.So, I proceeded by taking the exact text that Fauré used in his work, and instead of a large chorus and full orchestra I decided to do a chamber version. It is scored for SATB (single voices), flute, clarinet, string quartet, double bass and harp.The movements, as in the Fauré, are:1. Introit and Requiem2. Offertory3. Santus 4. Pie Jesu5. Agnus Dei6. Libera me7.
