Christian,Praise & Worship,Religious,Sacred,Spiritual. 11 pages. Kevin G. Pace #934234. Published by Kevin G. Pace (A0.1349477). An epically beautiful, sacred choral work with baritone soloist.  Music by Kevin G. Pace.  Text by Mary Ann W. Snowball.Text:Shouldst Not the Heavens Weep?“ . . . for He loveth the world . . .† (2 Nephi 26:24)In a striking prophecy and opened to his view,Enoch saw mortality as a glorious truth.Curtains of creation birthed God’s pure holy race.Yet what Enoch saw were tears on His saddened face. How is it that Thou canst weep? Thou art God of all!All eternity is thine . . . this thy sacred call.Mercy goes before thy eyes, truth before thy throne. How is it that Thou canst weep? All thy worlds are known.Of my soul pure children came, from my very hands.I gave mankind agency so all love could stand. But, behold, their sins I see; mis’ry is their doom.Seeing some shall suffer much, my heart feels entombed.Shouldest not the heavens weep for these ofmy own?Suff’ring for each child of mine, I for them atoned.Tears that fall are for their souls; these must suffer too.If they choose not to repent, my love seems untrue.Chorus:Shouldst not the heavens weep? God gave life to all.Shouldst not the heavens weep? His love covers all.

Choral Choir (SATB) - Level 4 - Digital Download SKU: A0.1245807 Composed by Words: Johann Franck, tr. Catherine Winkworth / Music: Lyndell Leatherman. Arranged by Lyndell Leatherman. Advent,Christian,Religious,Sacred. Octavo. 1 pages. Leatherman Music Services #840637. Published by Leatherman Music Services (A0.1245807). This is the four-part hymn-style edition of this Eucharistic hymn, to facilitate congregational singing. As far as I am concerned, you may purchase the minimum amount of copies that SheetMusicPlus will allow, and then freely duplicate the song sheet for inclusion in worship bulletins. Other editions are available:A FESTIVAL CHOIR arrangement of this hymn is available here: https://www.arrangeme.com/title/436143A PIANO/ORGAN Duet of the hymn is available here: https://www.arrangeme.com/title/436144Here are some program notes: Johann Franck (1618-1677) was born in Guben, Germany, the son of a lawyer. Like his father, Johann studied law at the University of Konigsburg, where–in addition to his studies–he developed a warm friendship with a group of hymnists and poets. Returning home, he began his law practice and eventually became mayor of Guben. As an avocation, the Lutheran politician wrote poems–and soonbecame known as one of the leading hymnists of his time, ranked only behind Gerhard. He is credited for the creation of a group of so-called Jesus hymns, building the foundation for the pietistic hymn movement that would later sweep through Europe. Franck once wrote that poetry should be the nurse of piety, the herald of immortality, the promoter of cheerfulness, the conqueror of sadness, and a foretaste of heavenly glory. Indeed, his hymns echoed his own spirit of encouragement.Lyndell Leatherman (b. 1953) was born into a Nazarene parsonage in southeast Kansas. After studying church music and composition at Olivet Nazarene University (Kankakee, Illinois) and Illinois State University (Bloomington-Normal, Illinois), he launched into a life of music ministry. Since 1977 he has enjoyed a diverse career as church musician, editor, accompanist, composer, and arranger. In 1998 he became aware of Franck’s eucharistic / Advent hymn, translated either Deck Thyself with Joy and Gladness (Mattes) or Deck Thyself, My Soul, with Gladness (Winkworth). Because the text was unique in its unusually exultant treatment of the sacrament of holy communion, Lyndell felt that the hymn was worthy of renewed consideration in the third millennium of Christian worship. So he updated the language and gave it the new musical setting used here. ************It has long been my passion and privilege to create customized arrangements for the churches and schools with whom I have been associated. Many were published; some were not. During the 2020 slowdown caused by Covid-19, I finally had the time to start posting the unpublished resources on Sheet Music Plus. Choral Choir (SATB) - Level 4 - Digital Download SKU: A0.939656 Composed by Richard St. Clair. 20th Century,A Cappella,Christian. Octavo. 38 pages. Richard St. Clair #3000253. Published by Richard St. Clair (A0.939656). This Latin Mass on all 5 movements of the Mass Ordinarium (Kyrie - Gloria - Credo - Sanctus/Beneductus - Agnus Dei) owes its title to the fact that with one exception every syllable of the Latin text receives one note of sung music. Of this work, eminent musicologist Willem Elders has commented It's interesting to see how you have been dealing with a text that in the past has been set by countless composers. It is what could be called a real 'Missa brevis', and I suppose that the cardinals of the Council of Trent in the 16th century might have been very happy with it, apart then from its harmonies, to which they were not yet used. The sound clip is of the first two movements. Stylistically, the music is mostly tonal with some more contemporary pandiatonic harmonies, and the rhythms are quite straightforward.

Choral Choir (SATB) - Level 4 - Digital Download SKU: A0.971687 Composed by Michael E. Ropp. 20th Century,A Cappella,Christian,Sacred. Octavo. 11 pages. Michael E. Ropp #2034327. Published by Michael E. Ropp (A0.971687). I Stand the Watch Before the Dawn is a dramatic piece for SATB choir and tenor and soprano soloists, for the season of Advent. The piece begins with the solo tenor and piano, in which the tenor plays the part of the night watchman and expresses longing for the light, and anguish at the condition of the people in the darkness. The tenor solo ends with the words Why have you forsaken us? The choir then enters a cappella (in performance, the choir can be doubled on organ using soft strings if necessary--it's difficult for the choir to get its starting pitches), and a soaring solo soprano provides the answer: the Light has come, but more than that, You were never alone; you are never alone; you will never be alone. One staging idea for this piece is to have the solo tenor up front, and the choir and soprano unseen in the rear, especially if there is a rear balcony that will hold the choir. However it is staged, this piece provides worshipers with a powerful and unforgettable reassurance that they do not face their darkest hours alone. (Please note that the MP3 file has some oddities in the dynamics; the sudden changes are artifices of how the MP3 is rendered from Finale and should not be interpreted literally.).

Text from Little PrinceThe little prince went back to look at the roses again. You're not at all like my rose. You're nothing at all yet, he told them. No one has tamed you and you haven't tamed anyone. You're the way my fox was. He was just a fox like a hundred thousand others. But I've made him my friend, and now he's the only fox in all the world. And the roses were humbled. You're lovely, but you're empty, he went on. One couldn't die for you. Of course, an ordinary passerby would think my rose looked just like you. But my rose, all on her own, is more important than all of you together, since she's the one I've watered. Since she's the one I put under glass. Since she's the one I sheltered behind a screen. Since she's the one for whom I killed the caterpillars (except the two or three for butterflies.) Since she's the one I listened to when she complained, or when she boasted, or even sometimes when she said nothing at all. Since she's my rose. ― Antoine de Saint-Exupéry, The Little Prince

Snowball.Text:Jesus lifted up his eyes while sitting on a mount. There a multitude had come, where thousands was the count.Jesus asked of Philip then, “Whence shall we buy some bread?â€Feeding hungry souls was such a way the Master led.One small lad had barley loaves, just five that day were found. And small fishes, only two, were set upon the ground.“Bring them hither,†Jesus said, then blessed and brake the loaves. These became like manna there, this miracle to show.Jesus asked disciples close to share the scanty feast. Each did eat, not sparingly, ‘til all were filled and pleased. Then He called disciples there to gather what remained;Twelve full baskets still were left, all through the Savior’s Name.Jesus also fills our lives when we might have a lack.Needing aid we lend our best, then He gives as we act.Listening to all we pledge He takes each offering,Always giving more to us than what we humbly bring.Chorus:Granting needs and pure desires is what our Savior seeks. As He fills our daily cups, we aid his heartfelt plea.He will ever honor us by giving what we lack. This, this precious miracle, is what He gives us back.

Choral Choir,Choral (SATB divisi) - Level 4 - Digital Download SKU: A0.1308788 Composed by Charles Tenet. Arranged by Tobi Crawford. Jazz. 11 pages. Tobi Crawford #898034. Published by Tobi Crawford (A0.1308788). *Purchase 10 copies to perform this piece with your ensemble of any size*Purchase the instrumental pack (bass and drum part) here: https://www.sheetmusicplus.com/en/product/beyond-the-sea-instrumental-pack-only-22605052.htmlThis arrangement came to me over a number of weeks in a very organic way that began with the ostinato piano figure that prevails throughout the piece. I began playing it unattached to any tune and I just liked the way the line descended in the left hand and how I had to find voicings in the right hand that made harmonic sense – like a puzzle. As I was playing around with this puzzle, thoughts of my father were swirling around in my head – I was at the end of a 4 year period of separation from my parents owing to the fact that I’m a Canadian expat living in the US and the borders were closed for a long time because of Covid, and then I had work visa issues and my parents were getting older before my eyes. They were also losing friends to cancer and other ailments and my dad, in particular, had experienced the loss of many close family members and friends during our separation and it was taking a toll. One day I sat down and played the now familiar-to-me ostinato but randomly I started to sing “Beyond the Sea†over it and it fit perfectly. I thought it a happy coincidence. As the days went on I committed to putting my ostinato with Beyond the Sea and the lyrics started to seep into my brain. I have, of course, heard these lyrics many times before, (who hasn’t seen Finding Nemo?) but the lyrics didn’t mean what I thought they meant… They’re NOT about the ocean, they are about my dad!!! Well, kind of… I realized, through careful reflection and by slowing the words down, that the lyrics are talking about a person in heaven who is patiently waiting for their partner to join them. Somewhere beyond the seaShe’s there watching for me…It’s far beyond the starsIt’s near beyond the moon And the lyrics end with them meeting, “We’ll meet beyond the shore, we’ll kiss just like before,†and the song ends with: “and never again I’ll go sailing.†It’s like the big bang went off in my head about why all these thoughts of my dad, and his friends, and this arrangement, and what it all meant suddenly just MADE SENSE and I was able to start formulating a plan. Performance Suggestions: The improvisation solo in the middle should be free of any traditional “scat syllables†and should be more of a lament. Listen to singers like Aubrey Johnson improvise on ballads for inspiration. An idea for that improv section might be to have a male singer start the improv, then a female singer joins (as if together in heaven) then they sing letter F together (warning: will cause tears…). All solo sections do not have to be sung as written – soloists can take liberties with the melody as the spirit moves.

Pace #4781177. Published by Kevin G. Pace (A0.702053). A beautiful Christmas hymn with music by Kevin G. Pace and text by Mary Ann Snowball below:From his sphere of glory, Jesus came alone To the waiting world below, Leaving his own throne. Bethlehem was busy; Jeering crowds were heard. Finally, finding solitude, Peace would be assured. Not in some great palace, Or a country inn, Nor a hall with finery Would his sole birth win. He was the Creator Of the earth so fair, And He could have chosen well Other sites not bare. Christ fulfilled long-standing Prophecy foretold, That He would come quietly, His life to unfold. No great proclamation Uttered from this King Meant, because He suffered much, Empathy He’d bring. So He’d know our trials He would have no home. He would travel with the poor, And our sins He’d own. Blessed to be his children, Asking tenderly For his care throughout our lives, He comes quietly. From his throne of glory still, He comes quietly.

Saturnalia Song for voices, wind, brass and percussion
Chorale SATB
Choral Choir (Mixed) - Level 4 - Digital Download SKU: A0.576366 Composed by David …
(+)
Choral Choir (Mixed) - Level 4 - Digital Download SKU: A0.576366 Composed by David Warin Solomons. 20th Century,Christmas,Classical,Contemporary,World. Octavo. 27 pages. David Warin Solomons #18013. Published by David Warin Solomons (A0.576366). A vivid and at times raucous celebration of Saturnalia, in Latin, for an ensemble of voices and instruments (including various percussion, woodwind and brass instruments). The sound sample is a sung performance by the composer with an electronic preview of the instruments. Further explanations: Song for Saturnalia - a raucous and fun romp - in whole tones (since there is scant evidence of the types of scales used in those days - whole tones just seem to work in this context). The Latin words make references to relatively modern times but the spirit of Saturnalia is timeless, after all. The pileum (also written pilleum) is the little cap that slave wore during Saturnalia to show they were free men and women on that day - they would point to their cap and say libertus sum (I am a free person) and omnes aequales sumus (we are all equal). The words (and translation - both by me) are as follows: Saturnalia Song Io Saturnalia! Hodie igitur dominus noster non es. [Hooray, it’s Saturnalia, so today you’re not our boss] Hodie omnes aequales sumus. Io! [Today we are all equal, hooray!] [spoof of USA Anthem] Salve O Frutici [Hi there, Bush] Ecce meum pileum: [Look, see my little cap of freedom] libertus sum [I’m a free man] [spoof of UK Anthem] Salve O Campestri [Hi there, Blair] Ecce meum pileum: [Look, see my little cap of freedom] libertus sum [I’m a free man] [spoof of German Anthem] Salve O Candelari [Hi there Brandt] Ecce meum pileum: [Look, see my little cap of freedom] libertus sum [I’m a free man] Io Saturnalia, Io! [Hooray, it’s Saturnalia, hooray!] [Note on the invented names (used in the vocative in the song of course): Fruticius is based on the word frutex a bush - it’s also used to mean blockhead in Roman comedies, but I can’t help that!. Campestrius is based on campester - a plain or place of clear ground (Blair is the Celtic equivalent word - a forest clearing!) Candelarius is based on candela - a taper or candle - ie something burning hence Brandt (yes, I know he’s earlier than the other two politicians, but, hey, it’s all a bit of anachronistic fun!)].

Choral Choir (SATB) - Level 4 - Digital Download SKU: A0.1129659 Composed by Kevin G. Pace (ASCAP), Kathryn W. Hales. 20th Century,Blues,Jazz,Religious,Spiritual. Octavo. 14 pages. Kevin G. Pace #730069. Published by Kevin G. Pace (A0.1129659). A fun, jazzy, energetic choral composition telling the story of Ebed-Melech and how he saved the prophet Jeremiah. Music by Kevin G. Pace. Text by Kathryn W. Hales. Text: The Good Book says that Moses Was buried by the hand of God; And those bitten by fiery serpents Were healed by lookin’ at a rod. Elijah was taken up to heaven By a chariot of fire, But the prophet Jeremiah Was cast into a pit of mire. “Can’t you hear me, Lord?†Jeremiah is a’cryin’, “Wilt Thou deliver me? For I am surely dyin’.†The Lord touched the heart On one Ethiopian And says to Ebed-Melech, “Go and save my son.†That black man, he did hearken And went straight up to the king, “What you’ve done to Jeremiah Is a very wicked thing.†“Can’t you see his misery? Can’t you hear him cryin’? Let me deliver him, O King, For he is surely dyin’.†Then Zedekiah repented, Said, “Go get Jeremiah Out of that old dungeon Out of the pit of mire. Take thirty strong men with you Do not delay or wait, Bring the prophet up again Before it is too late.†Ebed went to the pit, Called down into the dark, “I’s a comin’ to save you, Now, oh man, take heart. The king has relented, But before we start, Put old rags beneath your arms, So the ropes won’t leave a mark. Poor Jeremiah was so weak, He’d almost lost all hope, The men did gently lift him up ‘Cause he couldn’t climb the rope. He was kept in prison, But now he had some food, Until the Babylonians came To seize the multitude. ‘Twas an Ethiopian that saved him, A servant to Judah’s King, Blessed be the name of Ebed-Melek For doin’ such brave things. The Lord uses many people From every tribe and race To be an instrument in His hands, An implement of His grace. “Repent all House of Judah,†Jeremiah kept on a’cryin’, “Turn unto the Lord again, Otherwise you’all be dyin’. His words come down through the years To the people of today, “Repent and turn back to the Lord, And walk His chosen Way.â€.

Published by Kevin G. Pace (A0.701653). An original hymn with text by Michael Young below.YouTube video: https://youtu.be/IYJ1IZr-6tQ1. In Eden, then in Canaan's land,Then in Israel was heard. The voice of God, both still and grand,Prophets wrote His holy word. The Stick of Judah lent its voice,Witnessing of Christ to come,And making all who read rejoiceIt was the part, but not the sum.2. First in a stable as a child, On the shores of Galilee,Some heard Christ’s words, pure, undefiled,Many wrote what they did see.The Stick of Judah grew againWitnessing the Christ who came. How once our Savior dwelt with men,And cleansed mankind of sin and blame.3. In wilderness and on the sea,And then in the Promised Land. Both Nephi and his seed were free,And did God’s grace understand. The Stick of Joseph then sprang up,Witnessing of Christ as well,Of him who drained the bitter cup,Who redeemed their souls from hell.4. The Stick of Judah is one voice, The Stick of Joseph unitesIts witness, and gives us the choice, Of heeding both these two lights. Two witness of Christ who lives, Who came and will soon again, Until that time, His words He gives, None may know the hour when.

The woman with the issue of blood touched the clothes of Jesus, just as those who crucified him, who cast lots for His clothes and took them away; the woman experienced God's healing power but there was no record of any transforming impact on the soldiers' contact with Jesus' clothes. Faith made the difference. For some, Jesus reached out and touched them; for others, they had to reach out to touch Him. One way or another, the touch of faith makes all the difference.

Choral Choir (SATB) - Level 4 - Digital Download SKU: A0.719561 Composed by Multiple composers. Arranged by Curtis Hanson. Christian,Sacred. Octavo. 20 pages. Curtis Hanson #2036367. Published by Curtis Hanson (A0.719561). The pieces which comprise the Six Lenten Anthems are scored for SATB divisi chorus and organ and are both original and arrangements. They were conceived as a unit, i.e. some material is thematically related. The cycle is in arch form - pieces one (Out of the Depths) and six (Be Near Me, Precious Savior) are edited versions of German chorales, both of which have ties to Hassler and Protestant Germany and which have similar cadences. Pieces two (Lamb of God) and five (When Jesus Wept) are arrangements of works utilizing modal dissonance in juxtaposition, number two being another traditional German chorale, number five a familiar melody by Billings. Pieces three (Hosanna! and four (Jerusalem) are original works which require multiple divisi and also employ significant dissonance. Each of the pieces are available and may be performed separately.

Choral Choir (SATB) - Level 4 - Digital Download SKU: A0.888995 Composed by Quinn McMath, Levale Walker. 20th Century,Contemporary. Octavo. 12 pages. Quinn McMath #6130757. Published by Quinn McMath (A0.888995). 6.75 x 10.5 inchesSigh is a piece for choir, with piano accompaniment and a baritone voice solo. This piece would be a great concert piece for high school and collegiate level ensembles.Sigh was born out of the pain and turmoil of witnessing and experiencing the daily racism and systemic discrimination of minority groups in this world and in the United States. Sometimes it is difficult to express the intense trauma that comes with being a minority, and Sigh follows the journey of an individual holding in their feelings to a point where those feelings can no longer be contained. During the birth of this piece, stories of black deaths were nearly unavoidable and took a heavy toll on the black community. Sigh is a representation of the release that the community so desperately needs. It is important to note that this piece is driven by the hardships of racial minorities, thus it is preferred that the soloist be a person of color to better reflect the purpose of this piece.
