This is a very upbeat song (sold here as a single song) based on the scripture Isaiah 60:1 Arise, shine; for thy light is come, and the glory of the LORD is risen upon thee. For, behold, the darkness shall cover the earth, and gross darkness the people: but the LORD shall arise upon thee, and his glory shall be seen upon thee. And the Gentiles shall come to thy light, and kings to the brightness of thy rising.It is written with very basic chord progressions, single note melody line, lyrics, guitar chords, and key change from F Major to G Major, that would be fairly simple for a Late Elementary-Early Intermediate piano student. It is the third entry in the Christmas Musical Christmas Lights - A Christmas Musical for Children , which can also be purchased in its entirety in a separate listing.

A lilting 6/8 pattern is established at the beginning with an initial statement of the Arise, Shine theme. This theme is repeated several times, which makes this an easy anthem for combined children and adult choirs. A treble soloist or treble ensemble may be substituted for the childrens choir if needed. A descant is added on the last stanza and leads into an antiphonal alleluia for the ending. A very effective piece.

Stephen Chatman’s choral settings are broad in scope and tone; the tone painting evokes the stunning landscapes and their diverse communities. Both his original texts and those of poet Tara Wohlberg capture the enchanted worlds of North, South, East, and West.1. Arise is the short opening of this suite of five pieces, and is set to glorious homophonic music with rising motives in the lower voices.2. What's Cookin'? takes its sweet time tantalizing the listener with all the menu items of a truly Southern feast. Music, set to a slow tempo in swing eighths, makes the recitation tempting, if not downright sultry.3. Bugs is a soundscape of insects and their songs. Precise vocal effects make this challenging but also whimsical, and the result is pure fun.4. Love, O Love recalls an old-fashioned love letter in which the writer compares the beloved to the moon and the sun and pledges eternal love. The music begins with lush chords sung together, moves to an over-arching soprano line with gentle undulations in the lower parts, and finishes with the choir singing together again, Love shines on you, my only one.5. A perfectly apt finale to this choral suite, Kentucky Derby begins with a nod to My Old Kentucky Home, and then it's off to the races, literally. The text of the suite is declaimed rapidly in patter-song format, almost as if the chorus is calling race as it progresses. A tour de force, and truly, ..a wild ride!

This sermon song was inspired by the second half of the sermon Those Who Came With Jesus by Dr. Paul de Jong at First Presbyterian Church, Fort Myers, Florida on November 26,2023 using the text Mark 10: 1-31. I used the first groups who came with Jesus were the Pharisees testing Christ about marriage and devorce, the disciples and the children. In my sermon song Marriage and Children With God I set to the traditional Here Comes The Bride, with a Christian message as apposed to Wagner's pagan opera of origin. This one focuses on the rich man in the Gospel of Mark who, although he kept all of the commandments, lacked one thing - that he sell all he had and give it to the poor. With sorrow he departed from Christ because he had many riches. I avoided the eye of the camel referance, but ended with the line For all things are possible with God.For the music, to describe this event, I tweeked my sermon song LOOK, which has been published by Sheet Music Plus. This SATB arrangement can be used as special music by a quartet, a choir anthem or sung by a congregation with its five verses as a hymn.
