A seminal jazz ballad selection, Niema (also known as Naima) was written by John Coltrane, with lyrics by Jon Hendricks and arranged by Lenora Helm Hammonds. The 2nd chorus features a vocalese with the arranger’s lyrics, written to pianist Tommy Flanagan’s solo from the original recording. The soloist for the vocalese can be soprano, high alto or a high tenor and is quite harmonically and rhythmically challenging. The arrangement features, some section unison features, dense chorus harmonies, and a vocal bass line in the bridge for the baritone and bass voices. Notes: The first chorus is performed by the complete ensemble, followed by the vocal solo. An instrument solo is also optional as an additional chorus separating the vocal solo and the return to the top of the form with the return of the ensemble (as heard in the demo.) The demo depicts the vocalists performing with piano, bass and drum as a rhythm section supporting the vocals. However, the arrangement can be sung a cappella for advanced groups or with just piano accompaniment.

This arrangement adapted for choir SATB and piano was designed to make its listeners weep with emotion, because the adaptation preserves the original essence of the work, keeping its integrity faithful to what Beethoven wanted to transmit, with only a slight change in tone and addition of harmonic resources in the structure of the arrangement. Even though it is a funeral march, it is well suited for any musical performance occasion, being intended for beginner students who want to immerse themselves in the universe of romantic music, and nothing better than starting with the transitional composer of this period, which also does not prevent professional teachers from using it for recitals, academic presentations or didactic material in their classes as an ensemble practice. Ludwig van Beethoven's Piano Sonata No. 14 in C minor sharp, Op. 27, No. 2, is one of his most popular compositions and was an audience favorite even in his day. Written when Beethoven was 31, the Moonlight Sonata (Mondscheinsonate in German) was composed after he finished some commissioned works, but there is no evidence that he was hired to write this work. It did not receive its nickname until 1832, five years after Beethoven's death. It was the critic Ludwig Rellstab who compared the music to a moonlighting on Lake Lucerne. This comparison was adopted as a nickname for the work. Called Quasi una fantasia by the author - like its companion Op. 27, No. 1 - the piece was completed in 1801 and dedicated the following year to one of the composer's pupils. Beethoven chose to open the sonata with a slow, hypnotic arpeggio movement, the best known of the entire work. The dotted rhythm of its minimal melody evokes the tradition of 'Trauermusik' (funeral music).

It was initially a call used by train drivers and mine workers to synchronize their movements while pushing and pulling railway cars or working in the mines.The song's lyrics and melody evolved over time through oral tradition, passed down among the workers as a form of communication, motivation, and solidarity. While in college, Larry also learned the violin, viola, trumpet, trombone, and bassoon.Larry taught public school music, and gifted classes in music for high schoolers at Eastern Oregon University, and Montana State; Larry also taught adult classical and folk guitar classes at Mt. While in college, Larry also learned the violin, viola, trumpet, trombone, and bassoon.Larry taught public school music, and gifted classes in music for high schoolers at Eastern Oregon University, and Montana State; Larry also taught adult classical and folk guitar classes at Mt. Hood Community College. Larry also developed a rock and roll boot camp for middle schoolers that ran for several years during spring breaks at the Overlake School in Redmond, Wa. Larry was commissioned to to write the Overlake School anthem. Larry’s students have earned scholarships to the Berkeley School of music; attended the Thornton School of music; New York University and many others. Larry is a recording studio musician and besides the 5 albums he has published on CDbaby, he has appeared on many other albums, produced jingles for commercials that received air play in the Seattle market, and was the pianist for a syndicated gospel TV show. Larry has performed from Hawaii to New York city. During his studies at the High School of Poitiers, he was also the student of pianist Hélène d’Ambelle who was herself a student of the great French Pianist Alfred Cortot. It was his work with Jean-Albert Villard, the organist of the Cliquot organ of the Cathedral of Poitiers which would determine his vocation as an organist. Jacques Dussouil continued his studies in Paris with Noëlie Pierront and especially with Edouard SouberbielleHis duties at the Royan Cathedral lead him to also become a choral director and composer, founding one of the best Cathedral Choirs in France which he directed for many years.
