Choral Choir,Choral,SATB Chorus - Level 4 - SKU: A0.1429535 Composed by Kevin G. Pace (ASCAP), Kathryn W. Hales. Christian,Christmas,Praise & Worship,Religious,Sacred. 3 pages. Kevin G. Pace #1010232. Published by Kevin G. Pace (A0.1429535). A notable, sacred Christmas hymn with music by Kevin G. Pace and text by Kathryn W. Hales.Text:The sounds of that holy, sacred nightBegan with moans of pain,Mary cried out as all mothers do,From the straw where she had lain. She was young, but knew God’s will:Become the mother of His Son, He came to earth as all men do,Born to be The Anointed One. Another sound broke through the night,A whimper from a newborn babe,In Bethlehem so long ago,Where in a manger He was laid.He cried as all babies do,But cradled in His mother’s care,He left heaven’s glory to reside,In a world of dark despair. Songs rang out that joyous night,As angels came down to Judah’s hills,And choirs proclaimed the wondrous birth,And the heavens their voices filled.“Peace on earth, good will to men,”Were the glad tidings of great news. The Word of God manifest in flesh,Would proclaim His gospel’s truths. Then Mary’s song that holy night,Became a lullaby of joy,As she gazed with wondermentAt this child, her precious baby boy,Hers to hold but for a time,Soon His Father’s work to do,On earth becoming Savior Lord,To live and die for me and you. Chorus:Sounds of that sacred nightHeard by so very few,Now ring forth from land to land,Announcing again the joyous news. The sounds and songs that holy night,We celebrate at Christmas time,The song of love that Christ was born,Song of love, O Love Divine!

Pace (A0.701759). An original hymn with text by Kathryn W. Hales below.YouTube video: https://youtu.be/fxh5D3JYM_o When I see the world through a child’s eyes, I see mountains and bluebirds and bright butterflies; I feel sand through my toes when at the beach And the apples on the tree just out of reach. When I see the world through a child’s eyes, It’s easy to believe in a Heavenly Father so wise, That He created this earth and all its beauty untold; I still hope to see it that way when I’m old. When I see a family through the eyes of a child, I see a father who provides and a mother who smiles; I have brothers and sisters who are kind to me And we all play together in harmony. When I see a family through the eyes of a child, I can believe in Heavenly Parents, loving and mild, I can view each person as someone of worth And accept them as God’s family here on the earth. When I see others through the eyes of a child, I can learn compassion, to speak without guile; I can be teachable, forgiving, honest, and true, When I see the kind things others may do. It’s easy to believe in a God who is just, When I learn from others to show mercy and trust. I can learn patience while waiting a while, For God’s blessings to come to an obedient child. (Optional for the Christmas season) When I see Christmas through a child’s eyes, I feel laughter and magic and wondrous surprise; I love lights and music and cookies and songs, I want to serve others and never do wrong. It’s easy to believe when Baby Jesus was born Though ‘twas long ago on that Christmas morn, That Love had come down to redeem and glorify, When I see our Savior through a child’s eyes.

Choral Choir (SATB) - Level 4 - SKU: A0.1245807 Composed by Words: Johann Franck, tr. Catherine Winkworth / Music: Lyndell Leatherman. Arranged by Lyndell Leatherman. Advent,Christian,Religious,Sacred. Octavo. 1 pages. Leatherman Music Services #840637. Published by Leatherman Music Services (A0.1245807). This is the four-part hymn-style edition of this Eucharistic hymn, to facilitate congregational singing. As far as I am concerned, you may purchase the minimum amount of copies that SheetMusicPlus will allow, and then freely duplicate the song sheet for inclusion in worship bulletins. Other editions are available:A FESTIVAL CHOIR arrangement of this hymn is available here: https://www.arrangeme.com/title/436143A PIANO/ORGAN Duet of the hymn is available here: https://www.arrangeme.com/title/436144Here are some program notes: Johann Franck (1618-1677) was born in Guben, Germany, the son of a lawyer. Like his father, Johann studied law at the University of Konigsburg, where–in addition to his studies–he developed a warm friendship with a group of hymnists and poets. Returning home, he began his law practice and eventually became mayor of Guben. As an avocation, the Lutheran politician wrote poems–and soonbecame known as one of the leading hymnists of his time, ranked only behind Gerhard. He is credited for the creation of a group of so-called Jesus hymns, building the foundation for the pietistic hymn movement that would later sweep through Europe. Franck once wrote that poetry should be the nurse of piety, the herald of immortality, the promoter of cheerfulness, the conqueror of sadness, and a foretaste of heavenly glory. Indeed, his hymns echoed his own spirit of encouragement.Lyndell Leatherman (b. 1953) was born into a Nazarene parsonage in southeast Kansas. After studying church music and composition at Olivet Nazarene University (Kankakee, Illinois) and Illinois State University (Bloomington-Normal, Illinois), he launched into a life of music ministry. Since 1977 he has enjoyed a diverse career as church musician, editor, accompanist, composer, and arranger. In 1998 he became aware of Franck’s eucharistic / Advent hymn, translated either Deck Thyself with Joy and Gladness (Mattes) or Deck Thyself, My Soul, with Gladness (Winkworth). Because the text was unique in its unusually exultant treatment of the sacrament of holy communion, Lyndell felt that the hymn was worthy of renewed consideration in the third millennium of Christian worship. So he updated the language and gave it the new musical setting used here. ************It has long been my passion and privilege to create customized arrangements for the churches and schools with whom I have been associated. Many were published; some were not. During the 2020 slowdown caused by Covid-19, I finally had the time to start posting the unpublished resources on Sheet Music Plus. Featuring SATB with piano, simple melodies with rich harmonies and rousing unison final verse this Carol will be a perfect piece for your Christmas recital or concert.Duration: 2 mins 40 secondsLyrics: Christ He was born on a day cold as this,Crowned in the end with sharp thorns on a hill,Betrayed by his friend with a welcoming kiss,And yet tonight we remember Him still.By birth He was lowly, poor as can be,Acquainted with sorrow, He shared in our plight,Most of His life veiled in mystery,And yet still we remember Him tonight. His example remains – the gospels attestHis was a holiness the world could not kill. The stars look down on the Earth that he blessed,And so tonight we remember Him still.Carols we sing bring to mind the Christ childWho came in darkness to bring us His lightTo the halt, the lame, the blind, the exiled. And so still we remember Him tonight.

Choral Choir (SATB) - Level 3 - SKU: A0.953621 Composed by Adrienne Inglis (ASCAP). Celtic,Christian,Contemporary,Sacred. Octavo. 19 pages. Adrienne Inglis (ASCAP) #4807817. Published by Adrienne Inglis (ASCAP) (A0.953621). One of the most powerful passages in scripture set to music! Good length for an anthem, interesting and idiomatic use of flute and harp, nice mix of beautiful melodic passages and crunchy bits!A Setting of Philippians 2:5-11 from New Revised Standard VersionFor SATB chorus, flute, and clà rsach (Scottish lever harp) or harp or pianoDuration approximately 5:00 The Letter of Paul to the Philippians 2:5-11 (NRSV)*Let the same mind be in you that was in Christ Jesus, who, though he was in the form of God, did not regard equality with God as something to be exploited, but emptied himself, taking the form of a slave, being born in human likeness. And being found in human form, he humbled himself and became obedient to the point of death - even death on a cross. Therefore God also highly exalted him and gave him the name that is above every name, so that at the name of Jesus every knee should bend, in heaven and on earth and under the earth, and every tongue should confess that Jesus Christ is Lord, to the glory of God the Father. *New Revised Standard Version Bible, copyright © 1989 National Council of the Churches of Christ in the United States of America. Used by permission. All rights reserved.Composed by Adrienne Inglis in 2014 and premiered in 2014 in Austin, Texas, by the Westminster Presbyterian Church Sanctuary Choir, In Heaven and on Earth for SATB chorus, flute, and clà rsach, draws inspiration from the tune Love is the Cause of my Mourning from The Caledonian Pocket Companion Book 1, p. 27. The piece opens with the tune altered to G mixolydian mode. As the word exploited appears, a sinister-sounding E flat enters the harmony. Open octaves between soprano and bass show the emptying, followed by a shift to E phrygian mode with the word slave. Several dissonances emerge as the narrative gets darker. The flute and clà rsach represent chaos or hell with an aleatoric interlude of extended techniques involving tongue rams, flutter tonguing, multiphonics, spoken syllables, and lever glissandi. The harp then joyfully proclaims the new tonality of G major in a fanfare to introduce the text of praise and exaltation. The original source tune returns harmonically restored to G major.

Hush, 'til Thou saves from the Fall. Love will imprint on thy palms, Grace displaying healing balm. Hush, sweet Baby, hush. 'Til then sleep the night away, waiting for a brand-new day. Close your eyes now while you may. Hush, sweet Baby, sleep. Hush, hush oh Baby sweet. Sleep, sleep tonight. Jesus, our dear Savior lives, will His saving light.

An original hymn with text by Kathryn Hales below.YouTube video: https://youtu.be/w68JlvntMjcI did not see the vision, Nor dream a prophet’s dream, I only saw the barren desert Stretch forth upon the scene. I was not there when Brigham’s cane Touched the virgin ground Naming the spot the Lord had shown Where a temple would be found. I did not hear the Lord’s own voice As over ocean waves I tossed, Nor spared the death of loved ones dear As the vast plains I crossed. I only felt the Holy Spirit Telling me the work was true, So I obeyed the prophetic words Until my trek was through. I helped dig the rocky soil Before the foundation was laid Then with shovel filled the gaping hole Before Johnston’s army stayed. I did not see the temple’s spires I only saw the walls, I only shaped the granite stones With hammer, chisel, maul. I coaxed oxen through the mud To move stones down a mountain side, I watched our leaders grow old in years, No temple finished before they died. Now soon I too will join them Though I’ve labored oh so long, I’ll not see the rising spires Or sing praises in Hosanna song. I’m just a common earthly man, A laborer in a cause so great, To generations yet unborn, I’m not one you’ll appreciate. Through the years I’ve toiled and sweat, Shared blood and grief and tears, Obeyed the prophet’s call to serve Listened in faith, not fear. Please do not take for granted As you walk through these carved doors, Or hear the echo of carpenters From stairs or roof or floors The love and work that went into Many years of toil and prayer, Feel our spirits in the halls As you enter there. Though the structure’s end I’ll not see, To others who this path may trod, Go forth with diligence and faith Till we finish the work of God.

Starts quiet, small and atmospheric and builds up, with a yearning, modal harmonisation of the chorus 'Jesus your king is born'.  This would work very well for any Christmas service or concert.  We have enjoyed singing it in our choir. I would love to hear if you perform this, or do leave a review for others to see.

This is a medley of It Came Upon a Midnight Clear, Angels from the Realms of Glory, While Shepherds Watched Their Flocks by Night, Infant Holy. Some of the lyrics are changed and it is in SATB choir cello with parts included and piano. There is optional narration before each song change that can be sung with the intro. cdboss@cvalley.net See Lyrics below:
Hear the Angels Sing
?God sent the angels from heaven down to earth to proclaim the message of His son?s birth?
*It came upon the midnight clear
That glorious song of old
From angels bending near the earth
To touch their harps of god
Peace on the earth, good will to men
From heaven?s all gracious king
The world in solemn stillness lay
To hear the angels sing
?The angels proclaimed - Come and worship, Christ the newborn King!?
*Angels from the realms of glory
Wing your flight o?er all the earth
You who sang creations story
Now proclaim Messiah?s birth
Come and worship, come and worship
Worship Christ the newborn King
?The angels spread God?s message all around; In the country and in the town. The sight of the angels sent fear in some of the people?
*While shepherds watched their flocks by night
All seated on the ground
The angel of the Lord came down
And glory shown around, and glory shown around
?The angels and all of the people in the area followed a bright star. It shown it?s great light upon a stable. There they found Mary, Joseph and the newborn King?
*Star is shining, in the night sky
Lighting up the stable walls
Baby?s lying in a manger
Where His bed?s a cattle stall
Mary?s rocking, Joseph?s walking
Angels singing, Bells are ringing
For the babe, was born for all.
?You could hear the angels beautiful voices all over the land. Proclaiming songs about His birth?
*Still through the cloven skies they come
With peaceful wings unfurled
And still their heav?nly music floats
O?er all the weary world
Peace on the earth good will to men
From heaven?s all gracious King
The world in solemn stillness lay
To hear the angels sing???.

Women did come, their spices prepared;Still grieving the loss of life thus not spared. Then, finding the tomb with the stone rolled awayVoid of His body, cried in dismay.Angles came singing, sent from aboveWhy seek ye the living? Our Father’s LoveRising, thus breaking the death bands to giveA promise of life to all who would live.Seeking for truth, he knelt down to pray;Disturbed by the strife of men in his day.A pillar of light shone around this young boy;Christ and His Father answered in joy.Angels came singing, sent from above;Proclaiming the good news, our Father’s love;Full restoration of truth to the Earth; That all may rejoice, His gift of great worth. This Christmas (Easter) day, I ponder anewHis birth, life, and death; my covenants true,And His resurrection that leads to my own;Prophets still leading, guiding me home.Angels are singing, sent from our homeProtecting our children, loved ones who roam. One day we'll join them to sing in His light. He’s coming again in glory and might.

It is also found in another context – possibly at the Feast of Lights when the Temple was illuminated with a plethora of lights. With electric lights, we are used to seeing many, sometimes intense lights at night. But night light was limited in the first century to oil lamps. Christian Music Ministries #6135917. Published by Christian Music Ministries (A0.927456). Rock - a worship musical.Full piano score with SATB choir, solo parts and narration.Starting in Caesarea, Peter's story unfolds in flashback. From fishing, his 3 years on the road alongside Jesus and the disciples, his triumphs and failures. Jesus calls Peter 'the Rock' - but we see that only in Christ, and filled with His Spirit, is Peter on solid ground.Synopsis Traditional words introduce the theme of the Musical: Jesus is our ROCK OF AGES, but the story starts IN CAESAREA BESIDE THE SEA. Here, centurion Cornelius declares I’ve had a vision - but who can explain it, who can help? Cornelius’ household tell of Simon Peter, a disciple of Jesus, and we are taken back to Galilee when Peter, a fisherman, WORKING IN THE FAMILY BUSINESS, hears Jesus’ call to leave your nets and leave your boats. He responds I WILL FOLLOW YOU. For three years Peter follows Jesus, and when challenged declares YOU ARE MESSIAH, the Son of the living God! Jesus replies On this rock I will build my church, then, ominously, points towards Jerusalem. He and his followers eventually arrive in the city at Passover, and during the meal they wonder IN THIS BREAD, IN THIS WINE, is there love for me? At first reluctant, Peter allows Jesus to wash his feet. Events turn against Jesus; he is arrested, and Peter is afraid. The taunt SURELY YOU MUST HAVE BEEN WITH HIM sees Peter denying he ever knew Jesus. Then their eyes meet across the courtyard, and Peter is devastated by his own failure. But even at such an awful time as this, THE LOOK OF LOVE contains acceptance and hope. WERE YOU THERE WHEN THEY CRUCIFIED MY LORD? Peter wasn’t - he was in hiding along with many of the disciples. But after the resurrection, Jesus greets Peter and the others in Galilee: THIS IS THE PLACE – I am the Lord who comes to meet you here. Jesus asks: SIMON PETER, DO YOU LOVE ME? After being asked three times Peter reaches reality: Lord, you know everything … you know how much I love you! and receives the commission Feed my sheep. Peter and the disciples return to Jerusalem, and wait for the promised Holy Spirit. At Pentecost the Spirit comes, and as A CHOSEN PEOPLE, the followers of Jesus receive his power. Peter preaches, and thousands believe and respond JUST AS I AM … O Lamb of God I come. The Church is born and in the power of the Spirit begin WORKING IN THE FATHER’S BUSINESS, doing the things that Jesus did! Peter eventually arrives IN CAESAREA BESIDE THE SEA. He shares his vision with Cornelius and his household, and declares God has no favourites … you can be saved too … if you believe in Jesus. They believe, receive the power of the Spirit, and Gentiles also become members of the Chosen People, called out of darkness into wonderful light! Peter’s vision is fulfilled – the Gospel is for all who believe in Jesus. Peter declares HE IS THE STONE that the builders rejected … on Jesus the ROCK I will build my life! .

This SATB a capella setting of a beautiful poem by Imtiaz Darker was composed for the BBC Carol Competition 2019. It is suitable for both professional and amateur/community choirs. The theme is a universal one of new birth, making it suitable for many occasions as well as Christmas. The text is as follows:Rise and go on a bitter nightWhen hope lies frozen in the ground,Hushed and hidden out of sightNo living thing for miles around.Even though the tears of the earthHave turned to crystal, rise.Take the road that leads to a birth,An infant calls and the heart replies.See in the eyes a blazing star,A spark of something newly born,Feet already walking on air,Holding a lifeline in the palm. When at last you see the faceAnd feel on your cheek the baby's breath; When you have known the graceOf a beginning, being blessed.Look up at the hungry bowl of the skyAnd empty your pockets to fill it,See where the water is risingAnd lift your hands to still it.Turn to a world that is still unbornAnd raise your voice to sing it,Go to the child who is not your ownAnd open your heart to save it.See in the eyes a blazing star,A spark of something newly born,Feet already walking on air,Holding a lifeline in the palm.

Published by Con Spirito Music (A0.1367409). Perhaps the most often-sung processional hymn on Palm Sunday, “Ride On, Ride On in Majesty†was written in 1820 by Anglican cleric, poet, and scholar Henry Hart Milman (1791-1868) and first  published in Reginald Heber’s Hymns Written and Adapted to the Weekly Church Service of the Year (1827). The hymn references Jesus’ entry into Jerusalem prior to his Passion, as recorded in Matthew 21:1-11.Writing for the Hymnology Archive of The Hymn Society in the US and Canada, editor Chris Fenner notes in his analysis of the text that:“This hymn ... is much less a narrative or paraphrase of the triumphal entry (Matt. 21, Mk. 11, Lk. 19, Jn. 12) than it is a forward-looking hymn pointing from the palms to the cross to [Jesus’] ascended position on the throne. The triumphal entry itself is a fulfillment of Zechariah 9:9 (‘Behold, your king is coming to you . . . humble and mounted on a donkey’). The recurring opening line is possibly an allusion to Psalm 45:4 (‘in thy majesty ride prosperously’). “Some hymnological commentators connect this hymn with the idea of the great reversal in Philippians 2:5-12, where we find the Christ who humbled himself in a crucified death, later to be exalted, name above all names, to which every knee will bow. As Canadian hymn scholar Stanley Osborne observed, this hymn’s poetic strength is in its exploration of that duality:'Objective, robust, confident, and stirring, it possesses that peculiar combination of tragedy and victory which draws the singer into the very centre of the drama. It is this which gives the hymn its power and its challenge.'In this arrangement for SATB voices and organ, Milman’s text is set to the 15th-century English ballad, “Deo Gratias†(aka The Agincourt Carol), with the refrain Ride on in majesty!†following each verse.©Copyright 2024 Todd Marchand / Con Spirito Music (ASCAP). Published by WheatMyer Music (A0.976710). It Is Not Death to Die is a new setting of French poet Henri Abraham César Malan's Non, ce n'est pas mourir as translated by George Washington Bethune and adapted for this work. Why this text? It first came to my notice shortly after the passing of Billy Graham, who was known to paraphrase D. L. Moody, Someday you will read or hear that Billy Graham is dead. Don’t you believe a word of it. I shall be more alive than I am now. I will just have changed my address. I will have gone into the presence of God.Graham's bold proclamation and Malan's poetry motivated me to focus anew on the resurrection, re-remembering it as the pivotal element of the Christian faith. For if there is no resurrection, Paul says in 1 Cor 15, our faith is useless. But Christ has indeed been raised from the dead! Unfortunately, singing about heaven has, perhaps, been neglected of recent decades. We seem to have focused more on the already to the detriment of the not yet. But it is important to remember that this life is not all there is! Quoting Paul again, the sufferings of this present time are not worth comparing with the glory that is to be revealed to us (Rom 8:18). Yet, if Christ delays, the grim inevitability of our transition into eternity is a certain experience we all face. Malan's poetry so poignantly and eloquently captures this tension that it compelled me to compose a fresh musical setting that attempts to captures the mixture of dread and hope borne out in the acclamation that death is swallowed up in victory! I pray that this setting aids the Church to remember the great hope and promise Christ has granted us: O Death, where is your victory? O Death, where is your sting?_______________________________________________________________________________________________The music opens with a C# diminished chord in a very still and somber texture reflective of grief. The text is introduced with the first of two main motives, a rising 4-note outline of B minor in a triple repetition of It Is Not Death. As each stanza proceeds the music concludes on the second motive, a 5-note descending span of a minor 7th in Bb Lydian. The energy and mood of the music gradually shift over the five stanzas, as the focus moves from this life to the next; the texture thickens, the harmony expands, and the dynamic grows into the music’s pinnacle on reign with You on high! The music closes on a reprise of the opening section, simultaneously mindful of our mortality and our eternity.
