As I read Hood's story of constant love, I feel the inevitable promise found there, but also a sense of timeless adventure. At the beginning of this setting, the piano represents the rolling waves of the sea—relentless and full of energy—and the unyielding march of time. The fourth verse becomes contemplative following the setting of the sun and grows into the brighter day before a layering of the opening melody that moves into the distance.

A solo voice and aleatoric verse provide a unique set of textures to open any concert or worship and music event.This setting makes for an excellent introit or processional with the choristers either in performance position or in the round. Begin with the tenors and basses in drone on the given pitches on either a hum or pure vowel such as [u] or [É‘]. All sopranos and altos should sing the melody in unison once through, followed by a male soloist who should sing the melody from the back of the performance space and move forward as he sings. The third and final iteration of the melody should be the sopranos and altos singing through each phrase in an aleatoric style. After the final release, one could move directly into an anthem such as Tebye poyem of Rachmaninoff. The key of this piece should be adjusted to fit the needs of the ensemble and program.

English.Sing On! Dance On! was premiered by the TCU Chorale in March of 2016 at Ft. Worth United Methodist Church on a program called, Dance On, Sing Praises! Another arrangement of this tune by Fellowes was a favorite of my predecessor at TCU, Ron Shirey, and this work was created to honor his legacy. The piece opens with a simple solo and builds with intensity to end with stomping, clapping and a vocal fanfare.
