Choral Choir (SATB) - Level 4 - SKU: A0.1135629 Composed by Kevin G. Pace (ASCAP), Kathryn W. Hales. Christian,Praise & Worship,Religious,Sacred,Spiritual. Octavo. 2 pages. Kevin G. Pace #735685. Published by Kevin G. Pace (A0.1135629). A rousing, sacred hymn with music by Kevin G. Pace and text by Kathryn W. Hales. Text : The trumpet sounded forth: From the watchman on the tower: “Amend your ways, turn back to God, Feel His redeeming power.†The trumpet’s voice is loud and strong, It calls us to gather ‘round, For its clear voice is warning, “Hearken to the trumpet’s sound. A trumpet sounded forth, Calling men to arms: Prepare yourself for battles long, Protect all from danger’s harm. A trumpet sounded forth: “Raise the ensign high, Rally to the Standard Bearer, Yea, to the Lord on High.†His trumpet sounded forth, It will never call retreat: “Go forth in faith to meet the Lord, Kneel at His judgement seat.†A trumpet sounded forth, Proclaiming divine decree: The Gospel is restored to earth, So all men may come to Me. A trumpet shall sound forth, Calling all men from the grave When resurrected souls will sing, “Hosanna to the One Who Saves!†The trumpet sounded forth: “Prepare for the King to appear!†With songs of joy, we await that day, “Behold! Your King is Here!â€.

Choral Choir,Choral (SATB divisi) - Level 4 - SKU: A0.1349477 Composed by Kevin G. Pace (ASCAP), Mary Ann W. Snowball. Christian,Praise & Worship,Religious,Sacred,Spiritual. 11 pages. Kevin G. Pace #934234. Published by Kevin G. Pace (A0.1349477). An epically beautiful, sacred choral work with baritone soloist.  Music by Kevin G. Pace.  Text by Mary Ann W. Snowball.Text:Shouldst Not the Heavens Weep?“ . . . for He loveth the world . . .† (2 Nephi 26:24)In a striking prophecy and opened to his view,Enoch saw mortality as a glorious truth.Curtains of creation birthed God’s pure holy race.Yet what Enoch saw were tears on His saddened face. How is it that Thou canst weep? Thou art God of all!All eternity is thine . . . this thy sacred call.Mercy goes before thy eyes, truth before thy throne. How is it that Thou canst weep? All thy worlds are known.Of my soul pure children came, from my very hands.I gave mankind agency so all love could stand. But, behold, their sins I see; mis’ry is their doom.Seeing some shall suffer much, my heart feels entombed.Shouldest not the heavens weep for these ofmy own?Suff’ring for each child of mine, I for them atoned.Tears that fall are for their souls; these must suffer too.If they choose not to repent, my love seems untrue.Chorus:Shouldst not the heavens weep? God gave life to all.Shouldst not the heavens weep? His love covers all.

Choral Choir (SATB divisi) - Level 3 - SKU: A0.919010 Composed by Karen E. Peace (KE Peace). Contemporary,Holiday,Love. Octavo. 8 pages. Pax Multimedia #2894557. Published by Pax Multimedia (A0.919010). Love poem by the composer. SSAATTBB with piano for rehearsal only.Text: Ah, but shall i not long for you? Shall I, in obeisance to your scruples , then banish my love to a dark cell and express not its insistent call? It is you who have loved me and made me love -- Now I am as Prometheus, who, seeing fire, could never after forget its light and for that, submitted to burning pain for love of fire and love of human kind. And, captive to its eternally mesmerizing call, consented his liver to be consumed. And so my heart for you. Each ray of the setting sun that lures my essence outside its boundaries Each sparkle reflected on my solitary walls, each note that calls the soul to absent itself from form each subtle intimation of immortality -- at each my soul cries out for you, who has captured and entranced, plundered and bound, myself, in love, to you.

Published by Musik Fabrik Music Publishing (A0.535376). Gather Us In is an excerpt from Undelivered, a cantata written about the speech that John F. Kennedy never gaev in Dallas in November, 1963. In this piece for chorus and piano, Suzanne Calvin adapted this text from the Oxford Book of Prayer originally by G.D. Matheson (1842-1906). The work is suitable for both religious services and concert performances. Gather us in, Thou love that fillest all;Gather our rival faiths within thy fold.Rend each man’s temple-veil and bid it fall,That we may know that Thou hast been of old;Gather us in.Gather us in: we worship only Thee;In varied names we stretch a common hand;In diverse forms a common soul we see;In many ships we seek one spirit-land;Gather us in.Each one sees one colour of thy rainbow-light,Each looks upon one tint and calls it heaven;Thou art the fullness of our partial sight; We are not perfect till we find the seven;Gather us in.

The Heliotrope-the mind of man turned to GodAscensions (2009) for SATB chorus, traverso, baroque violin, viola da gamba, and organ was commissioned by and isdedicated to the Cornell University Chamber Singers, Holland J. Jancaitis, director. The work is a cantata consisting of an instrumental sinfonia followed by choral settings of three poems by neo-Latin poetJakob Balde, S.J. (1604–68), hailed as the Horace of Germany and considered one of the greatest Latin poets of any era.In the case of the three poems selected, Balde’s vivid imagery and mastery of Latin poetics are put in service of religiousexpression. The poems are filled with countless allusions to the classical poetic tradition; notably, he creates a strongcorrelation between the Virgin Mary of his Christian tradition (Balde was a Jesuit priest) and the goddesses invoked inclassical Latin poetry. Thus, Balde uses the older forms to express something that was, for him, contemporary andrelevant. (An analogue to this use of language is the idea of creating new music to be played on period instruments.)The opening sinfonia begins with an ascending pattern of triads, which returns throughout the work. The forwardmomentum is interrupted several times before the movement settles tonally. The first choral movement employs abouncy momentum to set the celebratory poem on the Virgin’s assumption. The second movement is a prayerful song onthe acceptance of death; it is spare and meditative, unfolding as a series of sectional canons over several drones. The finalmovement returns to the celebratory spirit of the opening; this time, instead of the Virgin’s journey, the poem describesthe speaker’s journey and compares a purposeful sea voyage to a directed life.Balde’s poems are provided in their original Latin and in two translations. One is a free translation in rhyming poeticEnglish created by James J. Mertz, S.J., longtime professor at Loyola University. The other is a newly-created literaltranslation by Edward J. Vodoklys, S.J., Senior Lecturer in Classics at the College of the Holy Cross.Carson P. Cooman, January 2009, Cambridge, Massachusetts, USAPERFORMANCE NOTES: The composer prefers a classically-informed Italianate pronunciation of the Latin(church Latin is acceptable). (It is important that V always be pronounced as V, not as the W soundoften used by classical Latinists.)The work is conceived for a chamber choir, as a larger choir would not balance the timbres of the baroqueinstruments. It is suggested that 16–24 singers be employed (no fewer than 12).As with much early repertoire, dynamic and expressive markings are kept to a minimum. It is expected thatdirector and performers will inflect lines expressively and naturally. The organ part is notated for a small portatiforgan with pull-down pedal (with no independent pedal stops). If played on a larger instrument, this smallerregistration plan should be kept in mind so as to create balance with the instruments and choir.

Published by Sandra Milliken (A0.774720). Bambino dalle stelle (Child of the Stars )is a choral arrangement based on the traditional Italian Christmas carol Tu scendi dalla stelle (From Starry Skies Descending).Tu scendi dalla stelle is amongst the oldest of Christmas songs in Italy. The original version was written in the mid-1700s in Naples by the Catholic Bishop of Sant'Agata dei Goti, Alfonso Maria de’ Ligouri. At that time it was called Quanno nascette Ninno and was written in the Neapolitan dialect in the style of a pastorale. The song was later re-written in Italian by Pope Pius IX and thereafter it became famous as a Christmas carol all over the world.Originally containing seven verses, today’s performances of the carol in Italy generally include only the first two verses. Notable recordings and performances of the carol include those by Sergio Franchi, Andrea Bocelli and Luciano Pavarotti. This English language arrangement has been extended to four verses. Verse 1 and 2 are adaptations of the first two verses of the original; the third verse tells of the adoration of the shepherds and the wise men; and the fourth is based on some ideas inspired by the remaining verses of the original version.Instrumental accompanimentAvailable separately is an instrumental accompaniment scored for string quintet and glockenspiel. Artist of Note, Inc. #1073248. Published by Artist of Note, Inc. (A0.1496732). Jazz Hodie (On this Day Earth Shall Ring)PERSONENT HODIE arr. Ken Litton (ASCAP) Those who have the good fortunate to hear Gustav Holst’s arrangement of PERSONENT HODIE as a choral processional with its engaging melody, measured gait and echoed text have never forgotten the magical moment—and were never really ready for it to end. Hailing from the The Oxford Book of Carols this German plainsong melody—from the Piae Cantones, 1583—has made its way into strong choral and worship traditions at Advent/Christmas.Of all the current texts and arrangements available, this version honors Holst’s unison accompanied setting in an unexpected subtle jazz styling, with the hope of bringing additional range to its established place in advent literature (both in terms of style and in appeal to a variety of age groups). And, On This Day Earth Shall Ring, translated by Jane M. Joseph (text in the public domain) gives it just the traditional touch needed for Jazz Hodie (On this Day). This SATB setting of the tune offers accompaniment designed for piano or organ, optional acoustic/string bass and an optional part for a single player involving three of the percussionist section best friends in the : the suspended cymbal, mallets (vibraphone, marimba or bells or bell lyre), and a small triangle. It should be noted that an electronic piano/synthesizer voice could substitute well for the mallets and the use of handbells is also viable. Perfect for Lessons & Carols presentations! The unison singing and bell-tone echoes of the first stanza/refrain soon give way to smooth, contrasting jazz harmony. The choral ranges are very much within the reach of the average choir and the voicings vary from unison to three and four parts, followed by a return to the character of the opening. The piece builds toward a close with a choral ascent in the final bars and a bass line reminiscent of the first verse, but with an extra jazz twist. But, it can easily be restarted for processional use by simply dropping back into the C minor introduction’s bass line. Note: the String Bass/Electric Bass part is included! Also available in a Hymn Sheet Version that includes everything needed for a small ensembe and/or the worshiping congregation. All this from the places you go for the best in downloadable resources:Sheet Music Direct Sheet Music Plus As well as via Hal Leonard InStore™ retailers. Also…be sure to check out other titles from East of the Altar/Artist of Note, Inc.Thanks, as always to the good folks at ArrangeMe.com, a division of Hal Leonard.

Https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=PqIQfHGxLEg&feature=youtu.be With thoughts leaning and reflecting on the end on Fall, and November, I can’t help but notice the beauty of fall and the trees and foliage. This wonderous little musical piece , from the motion picture The Lorax from the Dr. Seuss movie, depicts of the main character the Lorax speaking for the trees and in many ways advocating for all things, people and groups that can not speak for themselves. And even in the times that we live in, this story still rings true today. And beauty can still be found in sadness, or endings whether the be falling leaves in the park, or even with the events that are said , we grow and learn, being grateful for what we have , and learn to find our voices to speak out for the things that truly matter in life. This music, which is much like a hymnal, especially in the beginning of the piece, is perfect for this message. A message of peace, reflectiveness and hope and courage. As a side note , this piece should be played with lots of thoughtful rubato, and when the meter changes for 4/4(5/4) to 12/8, the beat does not change from quarter to dotted quarter .In the middle, minor section, I really added and improvised my musical skills per chord and melody of the song which makes my arrangement very distinctive, individual and unique. This would be great for a movie themed concert, all by it's self, for a funeral, for Arbor Bay/ Tree ceremony , for fall or autumn music/ themed programs, recitals, etc. Sure to be a well used piece in your collection. Scored for piccolo, flute 1, 2, 3 4, alto and bass flute. This pieces suites smaller groups , such as 1 per part, or doubling up with discretion. please visit my website at doraymeflute.com , too!I hope you enjoy this as much as I do, thank you for your support.#movie music #arborday#holidaymusic #fallmusic #holiday #fall #autumn #season #flutechoir #movieflute #autumnmusic

SATB chorus a cappella - SKU: BJ.1444 Composed by Henrik Dahlgren. Christian. Octavo. 8 pages. Bo Ejeby Forlag - Digital #1444. Published by Bo Ejeby Forlag - Digital (BJ.1444). 8.27 x 11.7 inches. The single word alleluia is used as the basis for harmonic exploration as the slowly moving pulsed a cappella harmonies build and diminish. Feature a soprano soloist or the section on an ethereal descant that elevates the texture to sublime heights. This piece came about for two different reasons. The initial musical idea evolved while I was working on a short study for piano, so the piece was strictly instrumental. The other idea stemmed from a discussion with my friend and mentor Dr Phillip Cooke, about why the word “Alleluia is so commonly used in choral music. Apart from the obvious reasons – “Alleluia being a significant word in the sacred music tradition, and so on – we discussed the multiple possibilities a composer has with a word like that, in the sense that different syllables can be stressed, such as alleluia, alleluia or alleluia. This was something I used as the other structural building block in the composition, and I added “Alleluia as the only word, but with the emphasis moving to different syllables throughout the piece. For me, the setting of a single word like “Alleluia is far from any texts I usually set. The word, however, has a strong anchorage in musical tradition and composers have always set this word in all kinds of different ways.In this composition, I am interested in the word itself, the build-up of the word, the structure of the music, and adding something to the musical tradition of setting this famous word to music. This piece was premiered by the University of Aberdeen Chapel Choir at King’s College Chapel in Aberdeen, Scotland. The performance was conducted by their Director of Chapel and Ceremonial Music, Stuart Muir. – Henrik Dahlgren.

Choral Choir (SATB) - Level 1 - SKU: A0.841363 Composed by Felix Bartholdy Mendelssohn, Samuel Arnold, and William H. Cummings. Arranged by Michele Galvagno. Christian,Christmas,Praise & Worship,Sacred. Octavo. 18 pages. Artistic Score Engraving di Galvagno Michele #6098159. Published by Artistic Score Engraving di Galvagno Michele (A0.841363). This year's Christmas publication choice fell on a song very dear to me: Hark! The herald angels sing. The text, inspired by Luke’s Gospel (2:14), appears for the first time in a collection of Christmas carols called Hymns and Sacred Poems in 1739, jointly written by Charles Wesley (1707-1788 ) and George Whitefield (1714-1770), two of the founding members of the Methodist movement. The version we know today is the one adapted by William H. Cummings (1831-1915) from the section Vaterland, in deinen Gauen of the Festgesang zum Gutenbergfest, WoO 9, by Felix Mendelssohn-Bartholdy (1809-1847). The story, however, is more complex and articulated than that. The original version of the text, written by Wesley, bearing the title Hymn for Christmas-Day, had received only slow and solemn music for its verses, music now almost completely discarded. Also, his original opening lines were Hark! How all the welkin rings / Glory to the King of Kings .The version that has been passed to us is the result of alterations made by different hands, especially those of Whitefield, who changed the initial couplet into the one we know today. In 1840-one hundred years after the publication of Hymns and sacred Poems-Mendelssohn composed a cantata commemorating Johann Gutenberg’s invention of movable-type printing. The English musician William H. Cummings finally adapted Mendelssohn’s music around 1855 in order to fit the music to the verses and give it its present look.In this edition we propose the version that every listener expects to hear when reading the title on the programme and, immediately after, one of the few original versions that have reached us in their entirety, that is the one set to music by Samuel Arnold (1740-1802) and available today in The British Minstrel, and Musical and Literary Miscellany, vol. 3, published in 1843.The proposed instrumentations are those of the classical string quartet and the cello quartet. Both variants are very simple to perform and are certainly suitable for small string ensembles formed in musical schools. In the cello quartet version, the only relatively complex part is that of the first cello, which should be left to the teacher or to a student able to play up to the 7th position without excessive troubles.I hope this music can bring you the serenity that made me prepare it.

Choral Choir (SATB) - Level 3 - SKU: A0.1262362 Composed by Sally Whitwell. 21st Century,Contemporary. Octavo. 17 pages. Sally Whitwell #855402. Published by Sally Whitwell (A0.1262362). On the morning of 2 March 2020, I finished writing the first draft of this song. It was the same morning that the New South Wales Rural Fire Service announced that for the first time since July 2019, the state was free of active bush and grass fires. At the time it felt quite euphoric. We’d been through a lot. Little did we know what was coming just a few days from then, when the Covid19 global pandemic reached our shores. It’s a virus that would kill millions across the world, and disable millions more, long term. It forced us, globally, into a kind of reckoning the like of which we had never experienced before. Non pharmaceutical controls like lockdowns, mask mandates, social distancing and ventilation standards were employed to keep us safe from this airborne virus, whilst scientists worked round clock to develop vaccines and treatments.Technically, the declaration of a pandemic is still active, but governments and people have somehow decided for themselves that it is all over. No one takes any precautions any more. Governments have stopped reporting statistics. People who know they are infected are going about their business with no thought for others. Meanwhile, many of the immune-compromised, the disabled, the vulnerable, are unable to safely leave their homes and engage in activities out in the world. I know this, because I am a carer for a vulnerable person. What this whole exercise has taught me is that people in the world are actually much less kind than I thought they were. Humans do not really care for each other. People attack me for wearing a mask, tell me that I’m virtue signalling and that I look ridiculous (as if I care how I look). I’ve asked questions about workplace Covid safety and been informed that it’s “a bit rich†that I’m asking at all, when everything is now safe. A friend’s diagnosed Long Covid symptoms were cruelly minimised or completely dismissed “Oh, it’s not Covid. How old are you? In your forties? It’s your hormones, it’s the menopause.†The fatal combination of sheer selfishness, rampant misinformation and DISinformation continues, whilst people waltz around spreading a deadly virus with no thought for the grief that will undoubtedly ensue. It boils down to this: if we want to continue as a species and to have a planet on which to reside, we have to stop with the Self Care and start with the Community Care. A choir is the perfect instrument for expressing these notions, through the unique power of the massed first person plural. My wish for this piece is that it spurs performer and listener alike into some kind of action. Please consider the effect your actions have on others, and on the planet, and make any changes necessary, however inconvenient or difficult they are. Otherwise, there’s really no point.Sally Whitwell 11 July 2023.

Published by Biretta Books (A0.879627). The Traditional Latin Requiem Mass is a musical genre that brought the Western musical tradition important works ranging from composers such as Mozart, Faure, Berlioz, Verdi, Palestrina and Victoria. This is a newly composed setting of the Latin text of the Requiem Mass from Stephanie Martin, a master of the choral idiom. This setting of the Requiem has solid choral writing, beautiful melody and rich harmonies. It is that sort of sensuous music that is choirs love to sing, and which stirs the hearts of listeners. In 2017, All Souls’ Church in San Diego, California, commissioned Martin to composed a Requiem for All Souls. Martin’s Requiem for All Souls was premiered on Souls’ Day, November 2, 2017, and dedicated in loving memory of The Reverend Edward Kellogg. On the day before the premiere, Chris Jennewein of the Times of San Diego wrote: This is the first major musical commission in the church’s history, but follows the centuries-long tradition of churches commissioning new music from significant composers. ‘Today many people don’t realize that the music commissioned by churches for performance during Masses, holy days, and other ceremonies forms a part of what we now call classical music,’ says Ruben Valenzuela, who is All Souls’ Director of Music and will conduct the premiere. So many of the landmark works we still love and perform were in many cases commissioned by churches or other religious institutions. Martin’s 25-minute Requiem for All Souls is set to the traditional Latin text of the Requiem Mass and will be performed a cappella. Valenzuela describes it as a work of pure, beautiful vocal music grounded in traditional church music.

In the third movement, Christmas Eve, the early twentieth century poet Robert Bridges looks back, on a frosty evening, from his own time to the very distant past, and considers what Christmas means to him. Then in the fourth movement, our Christmas Feast is prepared, and the Christmas Grace (fifth movement) is not forgotten. It is of course impolite to sing during the actual Christmas Dinner itself, but towards the end of the meal the peace is rudely interrupted by the sixth movement, Christmas Crackers. The seventh movement, Christmas Spirit, reminds us, in seventeenth-century words, of how we should share our good fortune with those who have need of it, and in the last movement, Christmas Celebration, the audience is invited to join in, with the last verse of the well known ‘We wish you a merry Christmas’ Some separate movements are also available: Christmas Recipe, Festival (Christmas) Grace, and Christmas Celebration. Alan Bullard’s choral works are performed worldwide, and many have been recorded and broadcast. He has a growing reputation for music that choirs enjoy performing, and which speaks directly to audiences. The Colne Choral Series contains a range of Bullard’s pieces for adult and youth choirs of all types, including cantatas and choral suites as well as individual movements. Choral Choir (SATB) - Level 2 - SKU: A0.904849 Composed by Giorgia Todrani, Maurizio Fabrizio. Arranged by Marco Borsoi. Jazz,Pop,World. Octavo. 21 pages. Marco Borsoi #3512071. Published by Marco Borsoi (A0.904849). --------------- Strano il mio Destino is a piece of music by the Italian singer-songwriter Giorgia, 3rd at the Sanremo Festival 1996. The piece is on the album Strano il mio destino (Live & studio 95/96). Authors of the song are Giorgia and Maurizio Fabrizio. This original harmonization for mixed SATB choir and piano, enhances even more the melodic and harmonic characteristics of the piece, making it even more unique and magical. The song is about a woman who reflects on a past story. A story that she herself wanted or had to close, but certainly not without regrets; What a woman I will be, if you are not with me and if I will love you more and more.... And she thinks: Strange is my fate, that brings me here…; a fate that compels her, for some reason, to reflect on her past, bringing her back to the moment in which she decided to leave away in silence. A destiny that, even today, surprises her to rethink about that love but without indicating a new way to go, because, even if all that love, I have swept it away ..., it hurts not to think about you. In the refrain, a hope emerges (underlined by the opening of the melody): I will not lose you, beyond time and distance I will go ...; hope that is confirmed in the last stanza: It is clear my destiny ... I will reach you, when the girl also understands that not everything depends on her: I will try to shout and maybe you will hear, my voice calling you, if you want . And hope, become certainty, returns with the repetition, emphasized by the melodic impetus, of the concluding sentence ... not to leave you, anymore.

Now that winter is upon us is set to an original poem by the composer. NOW THAT WINTER IS UPON US, OUR MIND SLOWLY GOES UNDER SLUMBERING THOUGHTS. LIKE DAYS BEFORE WHEN THE GOLDEN SUN SHINES BRIGHT ACROSS THE EARTH, AND THE NIGHT'S GENTLE AIR KEEPS OUR HEARTS WARM. SLOWLY, ALL FALL ASLEEP AND SILENCE FILLS THE SKY. SILENT. EARTH'S BLANKET IS NOW WHITE, WITH SILVER GLEAMS OF WINTER'S DUST SOAR TO THE HEAVENLY STARS ABOVE. THE MOON STRETCHES DOWN ONTO THE HIDDEN TREES, ONLY TO FIND THE BARREN ARMS OF THE THINGS IT ONCE HELD. LIFE IS STILL. LIFE IS CALM. PEACE SURROUNDS WHAT IS LOST AND WILL GUARD YOUR HEART, UNTIL THE RETURN OF ALL THAT IS ANEW!

Published by WheatMyer Music (A0.976710). It Is Not Death to Die is a new setting of French poet Henri Abraham César Malan's Non, ce n'est pas mourir as translated by George Washington Bethune and adapted for this work. Why this text? It first came to my notice shortly after the passing of Billy Graham, who was known to paraphrase D. L. Moody, Someday you will read or hear that Billy Graham is dead. Don’t you believe a word of it. I shall be more alive than I am now. I will just have changed my address. I will have gone into the presence of God.Graham's bold proclamation and Malan's poetry motivated me to focus anew on the resurrection, re-remembering it as the pivotal element of the Christian faith. For if there is no resurrection, Paul says in 1 Cor 15, our faith is useless. But Christ has indeed been raised from the dead! Unfortunately, singing about heaven has, perhaps, been neglected of recent decades. We seem to have focused more on the already to the detriment of the not yet. But it is important to remember that this life is not all there is! Quoting Paul again, the sufferings of this present time are not worth comparing with the glory that is to be revealed to us (Rom 8:18). Yet, if Christ delays, the grim inevitability of our transition into eternity is a certain experience we all face. Malan's poetry so poignantly and eloquently captures this tension that it compelled me to compose a fresh musical setting that attempts to captures the mixture of dread and hope borne out in the acclamation that death is swallowed up in victory! I pray that this setting aids the Church to remember the great hope and promise Christ has granted us: O Death, where is your victory? O Death, where is your sting?_______________________________________________________________________________________________The music opens with a C# diminished chord in a very still and somber texture reflective of grief. The text is introduced with the first of two main motives, a rising 4-note outline of B minor in a triple repetition of It Is Not Death. As each stanza proceeds the music concludes on the second motive, a 5-note descending span of a minor 7th in Bb Lydian. The energy and mood of the music gradually shift over the five stanzas, as the focus moves from this life to the next; the texture thickens, the harmony expands, and the dynamic grows into the music’s pinnacle on reign with You on high! The music closes on a reprise of the opening section, simultaneously mindful of our mortality and our eternity.

Wilt Thou Forgive? is a setting of the John Donne poem, A Hymn to God the Father. John Donne (1572 – 1631) was one of the greatest of the metaphysical poets in England, a group that included George Herbert, Andrew Marvell, and possibly John Milton. An Anglican priest with a less than perfect moral reputation, Donne expressed through his poetry (notably, the Holy Sonnets) the incongruities of human attempts at living the Christian life.In the present poem, the speaker reveals his struggles with sin-the sin he was born with, the sin he commits daily, the sin through which he influences others to sin, and the sin he has quit for a short while, only to take up again for many more years. He confesses yet another sin: the fear that he will perish on the shore, presumably to die with unforgiven sins, consigned to eternal damnation. His desperate plea is that God’s Son shall shine as he shines now and heretofore. If God answers this prayer, he will fear no more, and will know that all his sins, including the sin of fear, are finally forgiven. This musical setting uses subtle inflection of rhythm and meter to mirror the text, aiming for natural prosody of speech and expressive accentuation. Melodic contours emphasize important words, while harmonic placement projects the various moods throughout the poem. The key relationships involve mostly shifts of minor 3rds; starting in D minor, the piece moves through several keys, reaching its final statement in D major. A variety of textures maintains aural interest: clusters and close harmony, full divisi chords, and an imitative passage painting the words, won others to sin, and made my sin their door. A series of shimmering major chords brings the work to a close, declaiming the words, Thy Son shall shine as he shines now and heretofore, and, I fear no more.

A fantastic offer price for the full score and all parts! ... Looking for something to add a sense of oriental exoticism to your amateur orchestral/choral concert? This may be what you're looking for! This charming little suite of six dances lasts about 15½ minutes. It consists of a Pavane, Bourée, Sarabande, Allemande, Basse Danse and Galliard, which vary widely in character. As a whole the suite provides some interesting challenges for both performers and listeners. Apart from conventional strings, flute and harp (which can be either pedal or lever) you will need:- One or maybe two Arabian ouds. The parts are playable also on a fretless acoustic guitar. (Needs to be fretless because of the quarter-tones in some of the Arabic modes used.)- A cimbalom (the part can be played on a piano also, with slight modification). You might get away with using a hammered dulcimer but you'd need to make a number of compromises.- A doumbek and a djembe. These beautiful drums are a must for Middle-Eastern or African music. They're fairly easy to find, though finding somebody who can play them properly may take a bit more doing!- Finger cymbals and a gong. These are regular western instruments.- A wind-chime. Anything that produces a nice shimmering spangle of sound will probably do!- A group of singers (SATB). Nothing particularly challenging but see below. The primary oud part, the strings and the singers need to have sufficiently good intonation to pitch quarter tones. These are the exception rather than the rule, but nevertheless play an important part in the character of the music. Apart from this, the music is relatively straightforward and probably playable by any reasonably competent amateur or high school orchestra. In the spring of 2020 I wrote a set of short music tracks for a charity of which I'm a trustee. In order to protect my intellectual property rights in the music, I decided to bring it together into an attractive if not intellectually challenging little suite, hence An Omani Dance Suite. Originally the dances were all in Arabic quarter-tone temperament, but obviously quarter-tones cannot be played easily (if at all) on the flute, harp and cimbalom. So I have made some adjustments but retained the Arabic temperament wherever reasonably possible. I had thought initially of using a santur instead of a cimbalom, but the santur lacks the range and the dynamic capability to be used with a string chamber orchestra. The cimbalom doesn't need to be a concert grand model; in fact it doesn't even need to have dampers. The Omani was something of an afterthought: a musician friend of mine had worked in Oman and commented on how authentically Omani the Basse Danse sounded. The period of composition coincided with a time when I was really missing friends in Vietnam and Romania, so somehow influences from those countries found their way into the music.I'm not bothering with performing rights for this - just go away and enjoy the music! ... but if it inspires you find out more about the charity work that inspires me, feel free to get in touch!https://www.facebook.com/stuartbrownmusic/

Classical,Historic,Patriotic,Religious,Sacred. 4 pages. Military Bible Association #1044469. Published by Military Bible Association (A0.1465872). History of the United States Air Force and the Air Force HymnOn September 18, 1947, the National Security Act of 1947 created the National Military Establishment and the United States Air Force. The National Military Establishment later became the Department of Defense. The Air Force was part of the Army Air Corps since August 1, 1907. It had the oversight of military aviation for land-based operations. The organizational development of the Air Force is as follows: Aeronautical Division, Signal Corps (1 August 1907 – 18 July 1914), Aviation Section, Signal Corps (18 July 1914 – 20 May 1918), Division of Military Aeronautics (20 May 1918 – 24 May 1918), Air Service, U.S. Army (24 May 1918 – 2 July 1926), U.S. Army Air Corps (2 July 1926 – 20 June 1941), the U.S. Army Air Forces (20 June 1941 – 17 September 1947), and the United States Air Force, 18 September 1947 – present), and the separation of the United States Air Force Space Command as the United States Space Force (20 December 2019 – present). The Air Force has been involved in World War 1, World War II, the Cold War and the Korean conflict, the Vietnam conflict, combat operations such as Operation Eagle Claw, the invasion of Grenada (1983), the bombing of Libya (1986), the invasion of Panama (1989), Operation Desert Storm, the Gulf War, Bosnia and Kosovo, the Global War on Terror, Operation Enduring Freedom, and Operation Iraqi Freedom.Mary Christian Dundas Hamilton (24 May 1850 - 10 June 1943) was a Scottish writer and poet. She is known for writing “A Hymn for Aviators” (1915). It was known as “Lord, Guard and Guide the Men Who Fly,” and also as the United States Air Force Hymn. It was set to Mozart's “Dona Nobis Pacem,” a waltz. Various phrases and verses were used in the United States Navy Hymn, “Eternal Father, Strong to Save,” and alluded to in the United States Space Force Hymn, “Creator of the Universe.” Former Air Force Chaplain and Officer, theologian and hymnist, Major James F. Linzey (Ret.), believed that military hymns should not be waltzes. So he converted the timing of Mozart’s piece to four-four timing, giving the Air Force Hymn traditional timing that is fit for a hymn. James Linzey is the General Editor of the New Tyndale Version (NTV) Bible translation.

Choral Choir,Choral (SATB divisi) - Level 3 - SKU: A0.835422 Composed by Stuart Brown. Contemporary,Sacred. 8 pages. Stuart Brown Music #9697. Published by Stuart Brown Music (A0.835422). Possibly unique: an Easter (or more properly Good Friday) hymn for six-part choir, in which the choir is actually the accompaniment for a piano solo of almost hyponotic dissonance in comparison. The result of superimposing these elements is strangely beautiful. The composer offers the following commentary: I guess most people seeing a piece with a choir and a piano would think of it – not unreasonably – as a choir accompanied by a piano. This piece is subtly different: the way in which I can best explain what was in my mind when I composed it would be to describe it as a piano solo accompanied by choir. While the choir sings music that feels like a slow pavane the pianist plays a series of arpeggios and cluster chords around another relatively simple but unlinked melody. The combined effect is almost hypnotic and if the singers think of the pianist as their accompanist they will almost certainly lose the plot of what they are singing! On first hearing it may appear that the piano and the choir have little in common but the concept is simple enough. Both choir and pianist are meditating on the same theme, but coming at it from totally different directions. There is no formula to the way in which we approach the cross of Christ. We come as we are, seeking forgiveness and reconciliation, meeting at the foot of the cross. The juxtaposition of choir and piano represents that meeting and the cluster chords that the pianist plays reinforce a sense of brokenness that is essential to a proper understanding of the music. I have dedicated this to Canon Andrew White and the Christians of Iraq, knowing that their situation seems impossible in the face of the evil that walks that land, but trusting in the God and Father of the Lord Jesus Christ to do right even if from our earthly perspective we are unable to discern what right is.
