Choral Choir (SATB) - Level 3 - Digital Download SKU: A0.976711 Composed by Isaac Watts / Lowell Mason. Arranged by Robert Myers. Christian,Easter,Sacred. Octavo. 31 pages. WheatMyer Music #4775085. Published by WheatMyer Music (A0.976711). When I Survey the Wondrous Cross, written by the Father of English Hymnody, Isaac Watts, in 1707 and later matched with Lowell Mason’s 1824 tune, HAMBURG, has long stood at the forefront of English hymnody. This arrangement, taken from my Passion Week cantata, Wounded, Bleeding, Still Proceeding, allows the full talent-spectrum of the Body of Christ to contemplate His sacrifice and offer their devotion. The first two stanzas feature an alto/soprano duet, set in a minor key with frequent diminished and augmented chords to reflect the despair and loss of a witness to the crucifixion. The entire third stanza, set for SATB chorus, never really moves off the F minor tonic until the end. That, and the relentless pounding of the bass line, ponders the witnesses anguish and our vicarious experience of it through Scripture. So, sing these stanzas sadly – they are sad! When the choir enters, be sure to observe the swelling crescendos/diminuendos as the sorrow and love mingle together. The fourth stanza offers optional congregational participation and may be used to provide a responsorial to the Word of God or a preparation for the Table. The choir sings this stanza in four part harmony as the congregation joins on the melody. It stays in a major key and closely follows the traditional consonances used in Lowell Mason’s harmonization; thus, the choral parts will feel familiar and the congregational melody will flow naturally. Take the text literally (Love so amazing, so divine, demands my soul, my life, my all.) and sing it firmly, enthusiastically, passionately, but never triumphantly. Sing it as a song of personal devotion to commit all that you have, all that you are, and all that you will ever be, to the one who humbled Himself by becoming obedient to the point of death, even death on a cross (Phil 2:8b) so that we might become the righteousness of God in Him (2 Cor 5:21)The music is well within the grasp of any ensemble competent with traditional SATB anthems. The piano/organ accompaniments are straightforward yet very colorful. When I Survey the Wondrous Cross is an unapologetic Christian worship anthem suitable for sacred services, yet does not compromise on artistic expression. The parts provided in this version include a full score, a piano-vocal octavo (which may be performed alone), and organ and timpani/percussion parts. Neither organ or timpani are required but adding either or both provides a deep and rich experience. Parts for reduced orchestra (strings and single winds) are available separately.

THE GREAT HUMILITY OF CHRIST (SATB) – Philippians 2:5-11
Chorale SATB
Choral Choir (SATB) - Level 3 - Digital Download SKU: A0.926663 Composed by Michael…
(+)
Choral Choir (SATB) - Level 3 - Digital Download SKU: A0.926663 Composed by Michael A. Morizio. A Cappella,Christian,Sacred. Octavo. 7 pages. M.A. Morizio #3588423. Published by M.A. Morizio (A0.926663). In chapter two of Paul's letter to the Philippians, Paul begins speaking to his readers about encouragement, comfort from love, participation in the Spirit, and godly affection and sympathy for one another. He says, we are to count others as more important than ourselves. He pleads, Complete my joy by doing these things. From this point, Paul breaks immediately into this other known 1st century Hymn to Christ (Verses 5-11), which I have called, The Great Humility of Christ. The hymn text is a beautiful exposition of the Gospel; Christ in the form of God, did not hold onto (grasp) His equality with God, but humbled Himself and took on the human form of a servant (slave) and poured Himself out for all of mankind. The anthem is composed for SATB (a cappella) choir in two stanzas, with a bridge section and a coda. The piece is scored in D minor, but weaves between D minor and G Major (representing the dual natures of Christ-fully God and fully man). After the first stanza, regarding Christ’s taking on human flesh, the unthinkable happens; Christ humbles Himself in holy obedience to be put to death, even a humiliating and repugnant death on a cross. Here in the anthem we find the musical bridge between the two stanzas with the sopranos holding onto a single note (high D) followed by a cascade of dissonant suspensions, one voice handing off to the other, finally resolving in a descending scale. The second stanza declares God’s having exalted Christ as a consequence of His sacrifice, giving Him a name that is above every name, that at the name of Jesus every knee shall bow, in heaven and on earth and under the earth. The final coda (in G Major) trumpets the pronouncement that; Every tongue will confess that Jesus Christ is Lord, to the glory of the Father.

Alto Voice,Bass Voice,Piano Accompaniment,Soprano voice,Tenor Voice - Level 3 - Digital Download SKU: A0.1318498 Composed by Phillips Brooks and Lewis H Redner. Arranged by Connie Boss. Christian,Christmas,Holiday. 10 pages. Connie Boss #907165. Published by Connie Boss (A0.1318498). This version has an optional beginning. I have choir humming for the first three measure. There is a soloist that starts singing after that. The optional part is to not play the piano until half way through the verse. There is accompaniment if you prefer. THE ICON OF THE INVISIBLE GOD (SATB) – Colossians 1:15-20

Choral Choir (SATB) - Level 3 - Digital Download SKU: A0.926661 Composed by Michael A. Morizio. Christian,Sacred. Octavo. 15 pages. M.A. Morizio #3588399. Published by M.A. Morizio (A0.926661). In the first chapter of Paul’s letter to the Colossians, we discover the next known Hymn to Christ right after his introductory passages, beginning at the 15th verse. Paul opens this letter with a blessing, then immediately flows to one of the 1st century hymns, which I have called, The Icon of the Invisible God. The lyrics of this hymn are declarative, bold and illuminating as to whom the Christ figure is-the icon, the very image of the invisible God, the firstborn of all creation. The text makes it abundantly clear that Jesus is the authority; that He was there before all things, that He created all things, and that through Him all things hold together. This anthem is composed for SATB choir with Pipe Organ accompaniment. The meter is set to 6/8 time, with a rhythm tempo of Totally Alive; which is one actual definition of the word Holy. The anthem starts at a good clip (♪=100). The key is G Major, with an incidental and occasional flatted 5th (Dâ™) as a surprise-landing befitting to the text presented, as if to say, This is so amazing, how can it be? The flatted 5th gives the piece it's own identity and causes the listener to stand up and take notice whenever it occurs. When the hymn's lyrics glide into the all-important resolution, having made peace through the blood of the cross, the song retards and lands on a surprising musical cadence, the sixth chord (E Major). In this piece, the pipe organ is boldly featured as it supports and under girds the musical line, occasionally trumpeting its own victorious motifs and adding some contrapuntal elements, such as this duplet motif, in the pedal line. The final lyrics about Christ having reconciled everything to Himself, whether things on the earth or in the heavens, finish the piece with a great, ‘High-Church’ choral ending.

Published by Kevin G. Pace (A0.1076393). Have you ever wondered how to have a really happy life? In Matthew 5-7 in The New Testament and in 3 Nephi 12-14 in The Book of Mormon, Another Testament of Jesus Christ, our Savior teaches us the way to contentment and happy living through The Beatitudes. These gems of Christian living were taught by Jesus as the initial part of the most well-known of his teachings called The Sermon on the Mount. The word “beatitude†comes from the Latin “beatitudo†meaning “blessedness.†Each of the eight beatitudes in this book consists of two phrases: the condition and the result. Together, these illustrate a set of ideals focusing on love and humility, echoing the highest of Jesus’ teachings on spirituality and compassion. Each also promises a future reward, and the themes appear to escalate from beginning to advancing levels of responsibility and spirituality as the Sermon progresses. By the end of the Sermon a recipient would have earned the reward to stand ceremonially in the presence of God, and to ultimately gain the greatest reward of living with Him in heaven. The purpose of this book is to praise our Lord through song and text, rejoicing in the gifts we receive from Him as we do as He suggests. Please enjoy this collection of original solos, SATB choral renditions, and a duet, along with a short text explaining each beatitude in the order our Savior spoke them so many years ago as part of the greatest sermon ever given, our Lord’s Sermon on the Mount! It was a joy to prepare them for you. Happy Living!

The King, by Dennis McCorkle, is a contemporary pop-rock musical of the first two kings of Israel, Saul ben Kish and David ben Jesse and explores the contrasting lives and outcome of each man’s choices in life. [2 Samuel 12:24 - And David comforted Bathsheba his wife, and went in unto her, and lay with her; and she bore a son, and called his name Solomon. And Yahweh loved him;] [1 Kings 2:1-4 - Now the days of David drew nigh that he should die; and he charged Solomon his son, saying: 2 I go the way of all the earth; be thou strong therefore, and show thyself a man; 3 and keep the charge of Yahweh your God, to walk in His ways, to keep His statutes, and His commandments, and His ordinances, and His testimonies, according to that which is written in the law of Moses, that you may prosper in all that you do, and whithersoever you turn yourself; 4 that Yahweh establish His word which He spoke concerning me, saying: ‘If thy children take heed to their way, to walk before Me in truth with all their heart and with all their soul, there shall not fail thee, said He, a man on the throne of Israel.’] BATHSHEBA becomes pregnant again and DAVID a son, SOLOMON is born to them [The Kingdom has a New Son – Elders]. Choral Choir (SATB) - Level 3 - Digital Download SKU: A0.926671 Composed by Michael A. Morizio. Christian,Sacred. Octavo. 24 pages. M.A. Morizio #3588445. Published by M.A. Morizio (A0.926671). My dear friend, and Pastor Don Colageo and I cut our teeth together with this piece when we decided to dive headlong into this cycle of Seven Anthems to Christ. It was the second song of the (SEVEN ANTHEMS TO CHRIST) cycle that I had composed, but the first using his Greek translation(s). It eventually would become the last piece to grace the cycle of seven in order of my musical presentation sequence. In fact, this known 1st century Hymn to Christ spans 18 verses of the first chapter of the Gospel of John. My setting of the anthem is seven plus minutes long in performance length. The song's length was not on purpose, but the number seven does have Biblical significance (seven days of creation, seven golden lamp stands, etc.) The number seven is also known among Biblical scholars as the number of Holiness and Perfect Creation. Since this rather long, yet theologically complete Hymn to Christ already existed in the 1st century, it is no wonder the Apostle John opted to begin his Gospel with it, probably quoting the entire text. Consequently, he converted this particular Hymn to Christ’s lyrics into what would later become canonized Scripture. The anthem is composed for SSATB with solo SSA trio, and Solo Soprano and Solo Baritone lines, accompanied by Flute and B♠Clarinet. The key signature of the anthem is B♠Major. However, a lot of time is spent weaving and bobbing around the Dominant chord, (F Major). The Flute and Clarinet introduction play seven different motifs, interweaving with counterpoint, musically connoting the dual natures of Christ--fully God, and fully man. An SSA trio opens the piece recounting the creation story. A bass solo shortly follows, introducing John the baptizer's story and purpose. Soon, the anthem breaks out into full SSATB illustrating Christ's life and purpose for our salvation. The final coda is the great Doxology, sung in 5 parts, accompanied by the Flute and Clarinet, and the entire congregation (or audience) is invited to sing along with the familiar tune.

Jorg #2027759. Published by Paul A. Jorg (A0.522294). The following scriptures support the fact that God is a musician. He not only composes, but He SINGS! God composed a song which He gave to Moses to teach the children of Israel - The Song of Moses. Deut. 31:19 Now write down for yourselves this song and teach it to the Israelites and have them sing it....... The first lines of the song go like this: Deut. 32:1-4 Listen, O heavens, and I will speak; hear, O earth, the words of my mouth. Let my teaching fall like rain and my words descend like dew, like showers on new grass, like abundant rain on tender plants. I will proclaim the name of the LORD. Oh, praise the greatness of our God! He is the Rock, His works are perfect, and all His ways are just. A faithful God who does no wrong, upright and just is He. This song will be sung by the redeemed in heaven! Revelation 15:2,3 And I saw what looked like a sea of glass mixed with fire and, standing beside the sea, those who had been victorious over the beast and his image and over the number of his name. They held harps given them by God and sang the song of Moses the servant of God and the song of the Lamb: Great and marvelous are your deeds, Lord God Almighty. Just and true are your ways, King of the ages. AND GOD SINGS! Zephaniah 3:17: The LORD your God is with you, He is mighty to save. He will take great delight in you, he will quiet you with his love, He will rejoice over you with SINGING. I WANT TO BE THERE TO HEAR GOD SINGING UP IN GLORY!

Choral Choir (SATB) - Level 5 - Digital Download SKU: A0.719523 Composed by Curtis Hanson. Christian,Sacred. Octavo. 59 pages. Curtis Hanson #2032867. Published by Curtis Hanson (A0.719523). The Missa Millennia was composed during the spring of 2000 and premiered the following November by the choirs of the John Duss Music Conservatory, Duluth, MN. Scored for a chamber orchestra of strings, keyboard, and solo oboe (full score and instrumental parts available separately), the work is not so much a celebration of the new millennium as it is an assimilation of many of the musical styles, characteristics, and forms of the previous thousand years. The entire piece is in the form of the traditional Mass, a musical form having its origins in the Middle Ages, and is divided into the five movements commonly found in the Mass Ordinary: Kyrie (Lord, have mercy), Gloria (Glory to God in the highest), Credo (the Nicene Creed), Sanctus – Benedictus (Holy, holy, holy – Blessed is he who comes in the name of the Lord), and Agnus Dei (Lamb of God). In the final movement, the Prayer of St. Francis of Assisi (Lord, make me an instrument of thy peace) concludes the work. Although the Missa Millennia as a whole is distinctly contemporary, elements from many earlier musical periods are incorporated into the movements. These include chant, open fifth and parallel fifth harmonic movement (organum), and canonic imitation from the Middle Ages and Renaissance; fugue, word-painting, terraced dynamics, ostinato (a repeated rhythmic or bass accompaniment), Alberti bass accompaniment figures, ABA form, and dominant-tonic harmonic relationships typical of Baroque and Classical music to name but a few. Other significant features are the usage of non-Western modality in the plaintive solo oboe and of pedal point, a sustained tone in the bass over which the melody and harmony evolve. Pedal point, a compositional tool used throughout music history, dates from the Middle Ages about the time of St. Francis. Although not directly based upon the music of any composer, the astute listener may hear musical ideas reminiscent of Vivaldi, Vaughan Williams, Respighi, Duruflé, and others. In the audio file, the 2nd movement (Gloria) can be found at approximately 6'25, the 3rd movement (Credo) at 12'05, the 4th movement (Sanctus) at 21'15, and the final movement (Agnus Dei) at 31'05. The complete Mass is approximately 43 minutes long.

Poignant, sacred choral music. The text is in reference to the sacrifices of the pioneers of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints.  Music by Kevin G. Pace.  Text by Mark R. Fotheringham. Dedicated to the Willie and Martin handcart companies. Text: Into the wind, we suffer the more. To Zion we march, or to heaven's door. We stumble and fall; angels attend To help us rise up and march on again. No never alone, for God is our guide. We know inside.Tattered and torn, our shoes all in shreds. In sage or in snow, we lay down our heads. We dig shallow graves, bury our dead, Then wake the next morn and onward we tred. Through trial and pain, we hold to the rod, And thus know God.All that we have in one little cart, Together we push; we each do our part. And somehow our hearts, knit by our chores, Are strengthened to know we'll see temple doors. These rags will be white, for joy is in store Forevermore.

Published by Kevin G. Pace (A0.986799). Sacred music for SATB choir. Music by Kevin G. Pace. Text by Mary Ann W. Snowball. Text: Each child of God must choose . . . Some follow light and desire only truth. Who are these meek souls awaiting God’s pure grace? Who are these people? Whose are they? Whose? These poor in heart, so stilled . . . They turn to prayer for each blessing to be filled. As each is humble and seeks for heaven’s help, Does God receive them? What is His will? Disciples walk, and wait, Expecting gifts for their own display of faith. They view themselves in their mortal, carnal state, And greet the Savior at heaven’s gate. At heaven’s gate . . . at home. Each rightful heir brings a contrite heart to own. Their kingdom lasts with all glory and all pow’r. The poor in spirit have now come home!

Choral Choir,Choral (SATB) - Level 2 - Digital Download SKU: A0.1376536 By Brooke Griffin Carpenter. By Brooke Griffin Carpenter. Arranged by Brooke Griffin Carpenter. Christian,Praise & Worship,Religious,Sacred,Spiritual. 8 pages. Brooke Griffin Carpenter #961065. Published by Brooke Griffin Carpenter (A0.1376536). I wrote this song to describe my feelings about the atonement of Jesus Christ. It's a conversation with the Savior about His role in my life and my desire to follow Him. It was greatly inspired by the October 2012 General Conference address The First Great Commandment by Elder Jeffrey R. Holland. Elder Holland states: My beloved brothers and sisters, I am not certain just what our experience will be on Judgment Day, but I will be very surprised if, at some point in that conversation, God does not ask us exactly what Christ asked Peter: 'Did you love me?' I think He will want to know if in our very mortal, very inadequate, and sometimes childish grasp of things, did we at least understand one commandment, the first and greatest commandment of them all—'Thou shalt love the Lord thy God with all thy heart, and with all thy soul, and with all thy strength, and with all thy mind' (Luke 10:27; see also Matthew 22:37–38). And if at such a moment we can stammer out, 'Yea, Lord, thou knowest that I love thee,' then He may remind us that the crowning characteristic of love is always loyalty. This song is a testament of the words I want to say when that day comes for me.*Please note that this is the choral version of this composition.

Three Sacred Songs: 1. The Round Day (Downloadable)

SATB choir, flute and piano (ad lib.) - Moderately Difficult - Digital Download SKU: MQ.7540-E Composed by Derek Healey. Instrument part. 9 pages. E. C. Schirmer Music Company - Digital #7540-E. Published by E. C. Schirmer Music Company - Digital (MQ.7540-E). English. These songs are dedicated to William Osborne. The title Three Sacred Songs: was given to these pieces rather than the more usual terms anthem or motet because of the strongly secular presence in the texts. The songs were written over a period of some eighteen months. The Shepherd Lad was finished on February 29, 2008. The Round Day and Magdalene’s Song were completed in Brooklyn on June 11, 2009, the music having been originally sketched-out on Christmas Day and Boxing Day 2008, at Putnam Valley, New York. In the first song, The Round Day, the singer hears the voice of the Blessed Virgin Mary as she sings to the glory of God throughout the day. The text was written on June 7, 2008. In The Shepherd Lad, the Spanish mystic Saint John of the Cross describes a shepherd lad’s (Jesus’s) love for a shepherdess (the Church) and how another (the Devil) tempted his love away. Heartbroken, the shepherd climbed a tree, “And threw wide his arms in sweetest charity, Since by His Shepherdess He was forsaken.†The original Spanish text was translated and adapted into Villanelle form by the composer in early December 2004. The text of Magdalene’s Song describes the feelings of a mystic, or a devotee of Jesus, inspired by the fresh beauty, grace and power of the Lord of creation. The main body of the text is given to a soprano solo. The text was written on April 27, 2008. These sacred songs were conceived as being performed either as a set or individually. The composer had secular ensembles in mind, such as college or concert choruses, but these songs may, of course, also be performed in a liturgical setting. The accompanying flute provides introductions, interludes and codas throughout the set and, on a few occasions, plays with the voices. The piano part is ad lib. (optional).

Christian,Praise & Worship,Religious,Sacred,Spiritual. 11 pages. Kevin G. Pace #934234. Published by Kevin G. Pace (A0.1349477). An epically beautiful, sacred choral work with baritone soloist.  Music by Kevin G. Pace.  Text by Mary Ann W. Snowball.Text:Shouldst Not the Heavens Weep?“ . . . for He loveth the world . . .† (2 Nephi 26:24)In a striking prophecy and opened to his view,Enoch saw mortality as a glorious truth.Curtains of creation birthed God’s pure holy race.Yet what Enoch saw were tears on His saddened face. How is it that Thou canst weep? Thou art God of all!All eternity is thine . . . this thy sacred call.Mercy goes before thy eyes, truth before thy throne. How is it that Thou canst weep? All thy worlds are known.Of my soul pure children came, from my very hands.I gave mankind agency so all love could stand. But, behold, their sins I see; mis’ry is their doom.Seeing some shall suffer much, my heart feels entombed.Shouldest not the heavens weep for these ofmy own?Suff’ring for each child of mine, I for them atoned.Tears that fall are for their souls; these must suffer too.If they choose not to repent, my love seems untrue.Chorus:Shouldst not the heavens weep? God gave life to all.Shouldst not the heavens weep? His love covers all.
