He Lives Today, choral church anthem composed in 2016 The Inspiration The anxiety, fear and anticipation felt by Mary as she approached the tomb of Jesus, only to be replaced by great joy! The Music Composed for choir, soprano soloist, flute and piano. The piece begins with a somber flute solo, depicting Mary's journey to the tomb of the Lord Jesus. When finally reached, the flute solo quietly ends and the glorious choir response begins Our Lord Has Risen! He Lives Today! followed by the directive Go Spread The News!. The soprano soloist then recounts the event at the tomb between Mary and the angel. A repeat of the initial chorus brings the piece to a joyous close Our Lord Has Risen! He Lives Today! Program Notes The piece was written specifically to be used at the beginnings of a church service, or at the end, with the flute solo omitted. Of course it can be used for both!

Brahms composed Ein deutsches Requiem, nach Worten der heiligen Schrift, his longest composition, during the period, 1865-1868. For the libretto, he eschewed the Latin text of the Roman Catholic Requiem Mass, using instead verses he chose from the German-language Luther Bible. Thus, it was A German Requiem. The Roman Church’s Requiem Mass begins with prayers for the dead; Brahms, on the other hand, chose to console the living and framed his first movement around the second of the Beatitudes, Blessed are they that mourn, for they shall be comforted.  The first movement is, indeed, comforting, filled with warmth and beauty. This arrangement retains Brahms’ original choral parts and translates the orchestral accompaniment to the five quietly playing brass instruments. The audio sample was digitally created, so the choral part of the arrangement can be heard but without words. This arrangement was completed in 2017 and runs about 10 minutes, 32 seconds. Caffeinated Dreams is a humorous piece that pokes fun at high-dollar coffee by depicting a figurative monkey that is constantly trying to steal your latte. Anyone who has had the need for a nice warm caramel latte on a cold day (or any day) will enjoy this composition. Caffeine addicted people everywhere understand how difficult it is to get that monkey off your back... The one that's always telling you to cut back on your coffee habit. Watch out, or he'll steal your latte too! Caffeinated Dreams was inspired by the large number of coffee shops in Omaha, Nebraska, specifically one called Caffeine Dreams. If you are ever in the area, you should check it out. Also of note, there are small humorous illustrations throughout the score and parts to help inspire the performers. Perhaps you could attempt to get a local establishment to let you sing this piece for acup of java. Lift Me Up is the lead single from the soundtrack album of the 2022 Marvel motion picture Black Panther: Wakanda Forever.The song was written by Ludwig Göransson, Robyn Fenty (Rihanna), Ryan Coogler and Temilade Openiyi (Tems). It was intended as a tribute to the late Chadwick Boseman who played the title role of T'Challa (Black Panther) in the first of the Black Panther movies. Sadly, he died in August 2020. Speaking about the meaning and creative process for the song, Tems said, After speaking with Ryan and hearing his direction for the film and the song, I wanted to write something that portrays a warm embrace from all the people that I’ve lost in my life. I tried to imagine what it would feel like if I could sing to them now and express how much I miss them.
