The psalm is a deeply personal reflection by the psalmist on the wonder of my being and on the inescapability of God's love, wherever we might try to hide, and whatever we might do ourselves or might experience - even death. This gentle setting for unaccompanied SATB choir uses the full range of all four choral voices, with just one divisi passage at the end of the composition in the tenor and bass parts. The piece should be sung meditatively, without too much drama, even in the fortissimo passages, aiming for a sense of wonder and inner peace. Psalm 139 O Lord, you have searched me out and known me; you know all my sitting down and rising; you discern my thoughts from afar. You mark all my journeys and my resting place and are acquainted with all my ways. For not a word is on my tongue but, Lord, you know it altogether. Published by Con Spirito Music (A0.1359972). “Lord Jesus, Think on Me†is a translation and free paraphrase of a 5th-century poem by Synesius of Cyrene (ca. 375-414), Bishop of Ptolemais in north Africa and contemporary of Augustine, Bishop of Hippo (354-430). Synesius was a public servant and statesman, a neo-Platonic philosopher and poet. In 410, he was popularly chosen as Bishop of Ptolemais, a position he reluctantly accepted, as his views on certain beliefs of the church, including the soul's creation, a literal resurrection, and the end of the world (eschatos) were unorthodox. In the last of 10 odes Synesius authored, he describes himself bowing humbly in the presence of Christ. But after the resurrection, Jesus greets Peter and the others in Galilee: THIS IS THE PLACE – I am the Lord who comes to meet you here. Jesus asks: SIMON PETER, DO YOU LOVE ME? After being asked three times Peter reaches reality: Lord, you know everything … you know how much I love you! and receives the commission Feed my sheep. It was released in May 1982, as the lead single for the album Chicago 16. The song reached No. 1 on the Billboard Hot 100 Chart in September of that year, where it remained for two weeks. It was the group’s second No. 1 single (their first was If You Leave Me Now) and their first top 50 hit since Tell No Lover in 1978. O. : Is my newest sci-fi full length modern play in the TYNE ONSTAGE series of original musicals. I wrote this specifically for the senior students of the Performing Arts. It has many leading parts for both sexes and has a hint of the 60-70 style of writing found in those musicals of the times but modern in context. The story line includes opportunities for many individual performances covering song and dance numbers, group singing, contemporary dance, dramatic interludes and strong comedy parts. This is an original story taking a humorous look at a possible visitation from our space neighbours. The story begins with the arrival of GS2, an ‘Interstellar Space Surveyor’ on its mission to map this part of the Universe. Whilst reporting its position to the home base ‘Niva’, the surveyor informs them that one of the planets (Earth) appears to have intelligent life forms. On receiving this information Niva decides to dispatch a party of college students to study this unique planet, much to the annoyance of GS2 who take umbridge at being appointed, what he calls a Galactic Nanny! Events take a dramatic turn when the surveyor is called away on an ‘emergency rescue mission’ so has to beam the students down to planet Earth, where during transmutation, they are warned not to integrate with the population. THE GOLDEN YEAR As this chapter of my life comes to a close, I leave behind me a vision; a dream of students living in the moment and making the best out of their high school experience, an image of the vibrant purple and gold bolstered by the classes below, a mark that will live on throughout the generations to come, and the orange skies that will always remind me of where I spent my happiest years. -Chris Paul Chris Paul, a Jersey Village High School graduate(Class of 2017), wrote this ritualistic hymn during the second semester of his senior year. As graduation drew nigh, he reminisced about the time spent at his beloved Alma Mater, and dedicated ‘Departure’s Hymn’ to his classmates. Traditionally, the hymn is sung by the entire group/organization, while holding hands, in commemoration of those who are about to depart unto new endeavors.
