Choral Choir (SATB) - Digital Download SKU: A0.799653 Composed by D. M. Gardner. 20th Century,Contemporary,Sacred. Octavo. 62 pages. D. M. Gardner Music #481037. Published by D. M. Gardner Music (A0.799653). An intense hell-fire blazes throughout Day of Wrath. Though it begins quietly and mysteriously with the haunting Dies Irae chant, the audience is swept into a picture of hell painted by light and sound as the piano viciously churns-out its relentless melody against the turmoil of the choir... Driving to the ultimate end: Understanding whom we are to fear. But I will forewarn you whom ye shall fear: Fear him, which after he hath killed hath power to cast into hell; yea, I say unto you, Fear him. Luke 12:5 (King James Version)Day of Wrath is a performance not soon forgotten. Choreographed lights and sound add to the illusion of hell-fire and brimstone, while cello harmonics sail above the choir with an eerie crystalline presence. An opener, a closer... A crowd-pleaser for sure. If you want to break-up the praise and worship a bit, Day of Wrath will certainly wake up the audience!PURCHASE INCLUDES FULL SCORE AND ALL PARTS - Priced as a choral score (so, please purchase one copy per performer...Thank you!)Instrumentation: Cello, Narrator, SATB, Piano, Timpani, Cymbals, Bass DrumPremiere: University of Nebraska at Omaha - University ChorusDifficulty: Intermediate/AdvancedText from KJV version of the Bible and Dies Irae (Tomaso de Celano)To learn more about the composer, please visit https://www.dmgardner.com

Amazing Grace (my Chains Are Gone)

Choral Choir (SATB) - Level 4 - Digital Download SKU: A0.1225384 By Chris Tomlin. By Chris Tomlin, John Newton, Louie Giglio, and Traditional American Melody. Arranged by Dan Garrett. Christian,Contemporary,Sacred,Spiritual. Octavo. 11 pages. Daniel Garrett #821460. Published by Daniel Garrett (A0.1225384). This contemporary SATB divisi with piano arrangement provides much of the sound of today's professional a cappella renditions, but in a more approachable format for moderately advanced to advanced high school, church and community choirs. Written 250 years ago, the poetry and music of Amazing Grace make it one of the most recognizable and beloved hymns of all time. In 2006, Chris Tomlin was asked to provide the title composition for the movie, Amazing Grace, a docudrama about William Wilberforce's efforts in Parliament to end the British transatlantic slave trade. Inspired by the movie's subject, Tomlin added a powerful refrain, My Chains Are Gone, and a transcendent new verse. Refrain: My chains are gone, I've been set free, My God, my Savior has ransomed me. And like a flood, His mercy reigns. Unending love, Amazing Grace. Verse: The Earth shall soon dissolve like snow, The sun forbear to shine, But God, Who called me here below, Will be forever mine.

Choral Choir,Choral (SATB) - Level 2 - Digital Download SKU: A0.1376536 By Brooke Griffin Carpenter. By Brooke Griffin Carpenter. Arranged by Brooke Griffin Carpenter. Christian,Praise & Worship,Religious,Sacred,Spiritual. 8 pages. Brooke Griffin Carpenter #961065. Published by Brooke Griffin Carpenter (A0.1376536). I wrote this song to describe my feelings about the atonement of Jesus Christ. It's a conversation with the Savior about His role in my life and my desire to follow Him. It was greatly inspired by the October 2012 General Conference address The First Great Commandment by Elder Jeffrey R. Holland. Elder Holland states: My beloved brothers and sisters, I am not certain just what our experience will be on Judgment Day, but I will be very surprised if, at some point in that conversation, God does not ask us exactly what Christ asked Peter: 'Did you love me?' I think He will want to know if in our very mortal, very inadequate, and sometimes childish grasp of things, did we at least understand one commandment, the first and greatest commandment of them all—'Thou shalt love the Lord thy God with all thy heart, and with all thy soul, and with all thy strength, and with all thy mind' (Luke 10:27; see also Matthew 22:37–38). And if at such a moment we can stammer out, 'Yea, Lord, thou knowest that I love thee,' then He may remind us that the crowning characteristic of love is always loyalty. This song is a testament of the words I want to say when that day comes for me.*Please note that this is the choral version of this composition.

Snowball.Text:Like the fog in a storm and the sun who hides its face,Like pure shadows at noon, or a star out of place,Like the moon overhead in a dark and unclear night,I beseech more earnestly, seeking God’s pure light.Like bold sighs braving pain in Gethsemane’s lone space,Like the rock placed therein meant for grief’s leaning place,As blood dripping like rain for the pain is far too great,I beseech more earnestly, seeking God’s own traits.Like a child asking “How?” to his Father up above,Like each step to ascend on his ladder of love,Like each stretch sure to reach far beyond what I now know,I beseech more earnestly, trusting God to show. All at once I see light like a ray in shadowed sky,And it peers through each sphere as God’s voice in reply. Then more light, as if day, sheds its warmth into my soul . . .I still ask more earnestly, trusting to be whole.Perfect light comes from Him as He answers from his sky; From my bowed, lowered head, I can know Him on high.Perfect love shines below, from his ever-holy form,Right into my mended soul . . . his love to adorn.

Choral Choir (SATB) - Level 3 - Digital Download SKU: A0.1262362 Composed by Sally Whitwell. 21st Century,Contemporary. Octavo. 17 pages. Sally Whitwell #855402. Published by Sally Whitwell (A0.1262362). On the morning of 2 March 2020, I finished writing the first draft of this song. It was the same morning that the New South Wales Rural Fire Service announced that for the first time since July 2019, the state was free of active bush and grass fires. At the time it felt quite euphoric. We’d been through a lot. Little did we know what was coming just a few days from then, when the Covid19 global pandemic reached our shores. It’s a virus that would kill millions across the world, and disable millions more, long term. It forced us, globally, into a kind of reckoning the like of which we had never experienced before. Non pharmaceutical controls like lockdowns, mask mandates, social distancing and ventilation standards were employed to keep us safe from this airborne virus, whilst scientists worked round clock to develop vaccines and treatments.Technically, the declaration of a pandemic is still active, but governments and people have somehow decided for themselves that it is all over. No one takes any precautions any more. Governments have stopped reporting statistics. People who know they are infected are going about their business with no thought for others. Meanwhile, many of the immune-compromised, the disabled, the vulnerable, are unable to safely leave their homes and engage in activities out in the world. I know this, because I am a carer for a vulnerable person. What this whole exercise has taught me is that people in the world are actually much less kind than I thought they were. Humans do not really care for each other. People attack me for wearing a mask, tell me that I’m virtue signalling and that I look ridiculous (as if I care how I look). I’ve asked questions about workplace Covid safety and been informed that it’s “a bit rich†that I’m asking at all, when everything is now safe. A friend’s diagnosed Long Covid symptoms were cruelly minimised or completely dismissed “Oh, it’s not Covid. How old are you? In your forties? It’s your hormones, it’s the menopause.†The fatal combination of sheer selfishness, rampant misinformation and DISinformation continues, whilst people waltz around spreading a deadly virus with no thought for the grief that will undoubtedly ensue. It boils down to this: if we want to continue as a species and to have a planet on which to reside, we have to stop with the Self Care and start with the Community Care. A choir is the perfect instrument for expressing these notions, through the unique power of the massed first person plural. My wish for this piece is that it spurs performer and listener alike into some kind of action. Please consider the effect your actions have on others, and on the planet, and make any changes necessary, however inconvenient or difficult they are. Otherwise, there’s really no point.Sally Whitwell 11 July 2023.

Kevin G. Pace #806402. Published by Kevin G. Pace (A0.1208296). A stunningly beautiful, sacred composition for SATB choir.  Music by Kevin G. Pace and text by Mary Ann W. Snowball.  Depicting the miracle of Jesus curing the man by the Pool of Bethesda.Text:By Bethesda’s special pool, each day they did wait.Blind and halt and withered there, each to not be late.By the pool the crippled lay; healing was the goal.Ere an angel’s touch was stirred, not one would be whole.Years and years a man stayed near, but with none to aid. Then the Savior came, unknown, to surround and stay.Wilt thou be made whole? was asked by the Healer there.I can’t reach the pool myself. These pains I must bear.Wilt thou be made whole? I can ease thy load. Can I heal thy sun-parched soul? May I make thee whole?Rise, and take thy bed and walk. These words Jesus spoke.Soon the man was cleansed and healed, as if he awoke.Had full faith been shown that day from this aged man?Can we also trust our Lord? Will we take his hand?By our own Bethesda pools in a sacred space,He can clearly mend our cares through (by) his wondrous grace. We can also rise like him o’er our doubts and fearsAs we linger, patiently, listening to hear.We can be made whole when his hand we hold.He can heal our holy souls; He will make us whole.

Choral Choir (SATB) - Level 5 - Digital Download SKU: A0.989242 Composed by Mary Ann Joyce. Christian,Concert,Jewish,Sacred,World. Octavo. 9 pages. Mary Ann Joyce-Walter #6244605. Published by Mary Ann Joyce-Walter (A0.989242). Mary Ann Joyce-Walters writes: The first two sections of In Anguish and Hope are based on verses from two terrifying Psalms; the third section is a setting of a passage from Micah. I chose to use these texts after listening to a friend of mine speak about the death of her son.I became keenly aware of her personal and genuine feelings of rage against God, which were so similar to David’s Why do You hide Your face and forget our persecution and our oppression? Christ’s My God, My God, why have you forsaken me? and Elie Wiesel’s Never shall I forget those flames which consumed my faith forever. I realized that a far more difficult question (and perhaps more deeply personal) than that of asking God to forgive us is Can we forgive God?After asking that intimate and bold question, the words of Micah recall that peace, based on justice, will come one day: you shall be at peace and unafraid.…nations shall not lift up sword against nation….you shall bear fruit in justice and peace.

Choral Choir (SATB) - Level 2 - Digital Download SKU: A0.1171401 Composed by Roger Quilter. 20th Century,Classical. Octavo. 24 pages. Forsyth Brothers Ltd #771738. Published by Forsyth Brothers Ltd (A0.1171401). A delightful early opus from one of the most individual English songwriters of the Twentieth Century, Roger Quilter (1877-1953). The texts are taken from the works of Seventeenth Century English poet Robert Herrick (ca 1591-1674) whose lyrics Quilter also set to music in his Opus 8 song-cycle To Julia (1905). The Opus 7 settings are dedicated to Quilter's friend Percy Grainger.FIVE LYRICS OF ROBERT HERRICK (SATB & Piano): Cupid A Dirge Morning Song To Electra To Violets  CupidLove, like a beggar came to meWith hose and doublet torn; His shirt bedangling from his knee,With hat and shoes outworn. He asked an alms; I gave him bread,And meat too for his need,Of which, when he had fully fed,He wished me all good speed.Away he went, but as he turned,In faith I know not how,He touched me so, as that I burnedAnd am tormented now. Love’s silent flames and fires obscureThen crept into my heart; And though I saw no bow, I’m sureHis finger was the dart. A DirgeHere she lies, in bed of spice,Fair as Eve in ParadiseFor her beauty was suchPoets could not praise too much.Virgins come, and in a ringHer supremest requiem sing. Then depart but see ye treadLightly, lightly o’er the dead.Morning Song Let's now take our time,While we're in our prime,And old, old age is afar off:For the evil, evil daysWill come on apace,Before we can be aware of. To ElectraI dare not ask a kiss;I dare not beg a smile;Lest, having that or this,I might grow proud the while. No, no, the utmost shareOf my desire shall beOnly to kiss the airThat lately kissèd thee. To VioletsWelcome, maids of honour! You do bringIn the SpringAnd wait upon her She has virgins manyFresh and fair;Yet you areMore sweet than anyY'are the maiden posiesAnd so graced,To be placed'Fore damask roses.Yet though thus respectedBy and byYe do lie,Poor girls, neglected.

Choral Choir (SATB) - Level 3 - Digital Download SKU: A0.799640 Composed by D. M. Gardner. 20th Century,Contemporary. Octavo. 34 pages. D. M. Gardner Music #50653. Published by D. M. Gardner Music (A0.799640). Caffeinated Dreams is a humorous piece that pokes fun at high-dollar coffee by depicting a figurative monkey that is constantly trying to steal your latte. Anyone who has had the need for a nice warm caramel latte on a cold day (or any day) will enjoy this composition. Caffeine addicted people everywhere understand how difficult it is to get that monkey off your back... The one that's always telling you to cut back on your coffee habit. Watch out, or he'll steal your latte too! Caffeinated Dreams was inspired by the large number of coffee shops in Omaha, Nebraska, specifically one called Caffeine Dreams. If you are ever in the area, you should check it out. Also of note, there are small humorous illustrations throughout the score and parts to help inspire the performers. Perhaps you could attempt to get a local establishment to let you sing this piece for acup of java. I would.Humorous - You and your audience will love this piece!SATB/Solo Monkey with Conga, Bass Drum, Claves, Sand Block**Please note the MIDI audio sample does not reproduce any of the choir's non-singing vocalizations, of which there are many. Additionally, no monkey could be reached in time to make this recording, so that too is omitted. That being said, I think you will still very much enjoy this piece!Premiere: University of Nebraska at Omaha - University ChorusDifficulty: Moderate - A great piece for just about any choir...but especially for those old enough to drink a lot of coffee.Approx. 2 minutes and 30 seconds in lengthTo learn more about the composer, please visit https://www.dmgardner.com

Keep Thou my feet; I do not ask to see The distant scene; one step enough for me. I was not ever thus, nor prayed that Thou shouldst lead me on; I loved to choose and see my path; but now lead Thou me on! I loved the garish day, and, spite of fears, Pride ruled my will. Remember not past years! So long Thy power hath blest me, sure it still will lead me on. Published by Imagine Music - Digital (IZ.VMW193). 6.75 x 10.5 in inches. In 2015, Fr. Paulo Tanzini, former pastor of Church of the Assumption in Emerson, NJ, commissioned me to write a piece for the fiftieth anniversary of the building to be celebrated in mid-August of the same year during the recognition of Mary's Assumption. Although this was to be a fiftieth year jubilee, the parish had been in existence for many decades prior, and many of the choir members had been parishioners since the construction of the new building and some even before.Myidea was to ask the choir members to participate in this piece by expressing their thoughts regarding their devotion to Mary, and from their writing I would assemble their words into a lyric.Initially, A Prayer to Mary was composed as a unison/octave setting, after which I arranged it for SATB with piano accompaniment. Most important in the performance of this piece is to approach it with a generous amount of expression and rubato in several areas so that the meanings of the individual lyric phrases become meaningful and not just words.I have included chord symbols in the score for those who wish to personalize their own accompaniments; however, chord symbols do not, and in several cases cannot capture the exact content of the accompaniment. It would be beneficial to analyze the content of the written accompaniment before assuming that the chord symbols reflect the exact harmony.A Prayer To Mary can be appropriately performed during Mother's Day, the celebration of The Assumption of Mary in mid-August, as a communion meditation or any time during which special devotions are warranted.

Arranged by Orion Mendenall. 21st Century,Christian,Praise & Worship,Spiritual,Traditional. 12 pages. Amos 5.8 #1042316. Published by Amos 5.8 (A0.1463559). A common project among Christian musicians is arranging traditional hymns to sound contemporary. One day, my pastor asked me to do the opposite: arrange a contemporary worship song to sound traditional. This arrangement is the fruit of my effort. I conducted its performance. The arrangement is for SATB choir, organ, piano, and optional percussion. It has typical features of a traditional choral piece, such as descants and frequent key changes. The four voice sections each have their highlights in the song, building to a climactic finale.

In the place Gethsemane, Jesus Christ so fair Spoke to His disciples there, Tarry here and watch with me. Falling on his loving face, Praying fervently; His Father’s will to offer grace; Suff’ring willingly. 2. Cometh then, He finds asleep Those he left to spare Agony and pain so rare Of his gift, that they may reap. Could’st thou not one hour stay Watchful as the meek? Thy spirit, willing, longs to pray For the flesh so weak. 3. Time would meet Eternity As He prayed to God. Angels sing of glory, laud, Honor born of charity. Drinking of the bitter cup; Father’s will be done. Determined he would lift us up; Thus did God’s own son. 4. Now I’m asked to watch and pray, Offer all my heart. I will choose the better part, That I might abide the day. Father help my heart to know; Help my eyes to see; Unveil and guide my wand ’ring soul T’ward Eternity

Choral Choir (SATB divisi) - Level 3 - Digital Download SKU: A0.841250 Composed by Chris Gordon. Contemporary. Octavo. 18 pages. Cool Wind Music Digital #3029087. Published by Cool Wind Music Digital (A0.841250). A setting of a very powerful poem by English poet, Ted Hughes, about the onset of autumn in an English (Yorkshire) garden and the surrounding countryside. It is full of pathos and passion, harmony and dissonance, chaos and peace - just like English weather! This is a very individual and innovative choral setting of Hughes' poem which is, itself, rich in 'meaty' metaphor and colour - and the composer is a vegetarian! It evokes a savage Nature within a savage landscape where humans and animals compete for space and for food. It is October, the fields and woods and gardens of rural Yorkshire are readying themselves for the cold and desolation (and despair) of winter which isn't far away in time. 'A glass, half-filled with wine, left out(side) To the dark heaven all night, by dawn Has dreamed a premonition of ice across its eye as if the ice-age had begun its heave.' That is only two and a half stanzas but you see from these lines that there are veiled threats of (Nature's) violence in the heavy tread of the poet's slowly-building angst over what is happening in the surrounding countryside - and his fear grows, and his awe grows, with every line. There is even fear underlining the very last line: 'And now it is about to start.' Winter is creeping closer and closer towards the house and it will not be pleasant to experience!I have tried to instil a little of this in the music which keeps skidding from consonance to dissonance and back to consonance. Sometimes the dissonance piles up, like snow driven by the wind piles up into deep banks; sometimes the music relaxes into stillness and calm (painted in tonal music) like a crisp, mild late autumn or early winter's day when the sun warms the landscape and life appears bearable, tolerable. I hope this adds to the song's 'charm'. It wasn't easy to write: sometimes the right music was elusive. The music ends with the word 'October' repeated three times, with voices overlapping in a little canon. This conjures up the wistful feelings of the poet as he looks out onto a peaceful scene, soon to be filled with all manner of 'natural violence', while his inner peace will soon be shattered by the mayhem about to be unleashed around him.Setting Ted Hughes is no easy task. It is for choirs and choirmasters to judge if I have succeeded in conveying the 'sense and sensibility' of a classic 20th century English poem. The price is for one copy: please purchase a sufficient number of scores if you intend to perform this work. Choral Choir,Choral,SATB Chorus - Level 3 - Digital Download SKU: A0.1472849 Composed by Todd Marchand. Christian,Sacred. 5 pages. Con Spirito Music #1050479. Published by Con Spirito Music (A0.1472849). “That We May Give Ourselves” is a short anthem based on a traditional collect — a prayer comprising an invocation, petition, and conclusion — that appears in various Anglican prayer books. The invocation, “Eternal God and Father, by whose power we are created and by whose love we are redeemed” acknowledges the eternity, creative power, and redeeming love of God. The petition, “Guide and strengthen us by your Spirit, that we may give ourselves to your service, and live this day in love to one another, and live this day in love to you” asks for the aid of the Holy Spirit in service to God and recalls Jesus's words in the Gospel of Matthew, 22:37-39: “And [Jesus] said to him, ‘You shall love the Lord your God with all your heart and with all your soul and with all your mind. This is the great and first commandment. And a second is like it: You shall love your neighbor as yourself.’”The conclusion, “through Jesus Christ our Lord,” reflects the mediating role of Jesus Christ the Son, as expressed in I Timothy 2:5 (“For there is one God, and there is one mediator between God and men, the man Christ Jesus”) and Ephesians 2:18 (“For through him we both have access in one Spirit to the Father”).Appropriate at any time of year, this short anthem of dedication is an ideal offertory selection. ©Copyright 2024 Todd Marchand / Con Spirito Music (ASCAP). SATB choir, organ, narrator SKU: LO.55-1088S A Cantata Proclaiming the Glory of Easter. Composed by Stephen Walters. Choral, cantatas. Eastertide, Sacred. Choral score. Sacred Music Press #55/1088S. Published by Sacred Music Press (LO.55-1088S). UPC: 000308092882.Someone asked Mr. Walters, Why write an Easter cantata that's completely focused on the resurrection experience? He replied, Simple. I just thought it was time. After a week of music dedicated to the persecution, death and apparent failure that immediately preceded the resurrection, how much time is left, then, for us to celebrate the gift Jesus gave us? And so generously and completely? Here, then, is his talented response: a glorious compendium of anthems celebrating and rejoicing in the victory of the cross and the beginning, once again, of personal renewal.

TALLULAH TUNES #2151393. Published by TALLULAH TUNES (A0.933412). 2016 Choral Contest Entry - In late 2014, Dan Korneychuk, music director at the Bel Air Presbyterian church in Los Angeles, asked me to score one of his favorite poems which was written by Samuel Grossman in 1664. It had been put to music unsuccessfully, some felt, several times in the past. I decided to write a ‘hymn version’ first, much as it would appear in a traditional hymnal. Unfortunately, the text traversed the extremes of emotion in the telling of Christ’s passion rendering the melody inappropriate in places. I decided to keep to the hymn version as much as possible, but when the emotional story differed from the musical one, I used harmonic variation and dissonance, utilizing the wide palette of the orchestra to tell the story. This piece has been performed on Palm Sunday. Versions exist in the form of a hymn, an arrangement for 10 brass and 2 percussion, an arrangement for SATB/piano, An arrangement for SATB/organ, and an arrangement for orchestra.Questions or comments? SATB choir (choir divisi) unaccompanied - Difficult - Digital Download SKU: MQ.8452-E Composed by Frank Ferko. Advanced/Collegiate. Secular, 21st Century, Creation/Nature. Instrument part. 20 pages. Duration 6 minutes, 7 seconds. E. C. Schirmer Music Company - Digital #8452-E. Published by E. C. Schirmer Music Company - Digital (MQ.8452-E). English. In the summer of 2011, while I was visiting my friends Don and Sally Roberts in Santa Fe, Sally asked me if I would be interested in writing a new choral work for Don in celebration of his upcoming 75th birthday. The idea appealed to me very much, so I readily agreed to write the piece. Since Don has enjoyed a lifelong interest in the American Southwest Pueblo people and their customs, Sally provided me with several Tewa texts, in English translation, to consider for musical setting. I was particularly drawn to the imagery of Song of the Sky Loom, so that poem became the basis for the new work. The music begins with two baritone soloists singing an introductory 'call-and-response' to which the entire chorus eventually responds. The opening line of text is first presented in fragmented form, as if voices from all areas of nature gradually rise up and then merge into a unified chordal texture. As the text turns to the imagery of weaving, the musical texture, accordingly, becomes contrapuntal: individual melodic lines, sung by solo voices or small groups (the 'weft'), intertwine with each other and also with the main chorus, which provides the overall harmonic structure (the 'warp'). The following chorale section, infused with occasional chromatic inflections, represents the massive 'rainbow' in the text and brings the work to a unified conclusion. Song of the Sky Loom was first performed by the Santa Fe Desert Chorale, under the direction of Joshua Habermann, on July 19, 2016 with three subsequent performances during the following two weeks. -Frank Ferko Duration: 6:07.
