Wilt Thou Forgive? is a setting of the John Donne poem, A Hymn to God the Father. John Donne (1572 – 1631) was one of the greatest of the metaphysical poets in England, a group that included George Herbert, Andrew Marvell, and possibly John Milton. An Anglican priest with a less than perfect moral reputation, Donne expressed through his poetry (notably, the Holy Sonnets) the incongruities of human attempts at living the Christian life.In the present poem, the speaker reveals his struggles with sin-the sin he was born with, the sin he commits daily, the sin through which he influences others to sin, and the sin he has quit for a short while, only to take up again for many more years. He confesses yet another sin: the fear that he will perish on the shore, presumably to die with unforgiven sins, consigned to eternal damnation. His desperate plea is that God’s Son shall shine as he shines now and heretofore. If God answers this prayer, he will fear no more, and will know that all his sins, including the sin of fear, are finally forgiven.This musical setting uses subtle inflection of rhythm and meter to mirror the text, aiming for natural prosody of speech and expressive accentuation. Melodic contours emphasize important words, while harmonic placement projects the various moods throughout the poem. The key relationships involve mostly shifts of minor 3rds; starting in D minor, the piece moves through several keys, reaching its final statement in D major. A variety of textures maintains aural interest: clusters and close harmony, full divisi chords, and an imitative passage painting the words, won others to sin, and made my sin their door. A series of shimmering major chords brings the work to a close, declaiming the words, Thy Son shall shine as he shines now and heretofore, and, I fear no more.

PLANET ORIGAMI : Is my latest play in the TYNE ONSTAGE series of family orientated musicals and takes the audience ‘Out of this World’ to a strange little planet in a far distant galaxy on a small barren rocky planet called BEEZEDON. This is a place entirely inhabited by a race of androids, who after some catastrophic event, were the only machines immune from the ensuing radiation which destroyed every living life form and fauna. Before leaving for a safer haven, the emigrating intelligencia built a new colony of these ‘droids and programmed them to make their planet beautiful again by carpeting it with new flowers, when it was deemed ‘safe.’ The droids had carried out this programme diligently for the next thousand years. However no one had thought through the consequence of instigating such a rigid programme and when their preliminary attempts ended in failure and the fauna died,these clever machines found a perfect solution by refering to their data banks and manufacturing replicas from synthesised plastic. Once the programme was completed and with no more space left, the ‘droids instantly ‘restored' themselves and began creating their world all over again. This is where my story begins:- ‘Melody Mayflower’, Is a newly appointed Earth’s Ambassador and a representative of the Commission for Harmony and Concilliation, an organisation which has been extending its borders throughout the Milky Way Galaxy. Our own star system has become a recent member and Melody is one of their many Goodwill Ambassadors. Although she doesn’t know it, she has been selected for the onerous task of convincing the Droid Nation that their programme is now obselete, as Beezedon is now free of contamination, therefore ready for re-planting with organic material.

He shares his vision with Cornelius and his household, and declares God has no favourites … you can be saved too … if you believe in Jesus. They believe, receive the power of the Spirit, and Gentiles also become members of the Chosen People, called out of darkness into wonderful light! BYZANTINE HYMN: O THRINOS TIS ALOSEOS: Lament over the Fall of Constantinople in 1453 (after Simon Karas) arranged for soloist and SATB choirConstantinople (ΚωνταντινοÏπολη=Constantin's City), had been the capital of the Byzantine (Eastern Roman) empire from 330 until 1453, when it fell to the Ottomans. It continued then as the capital of the Ottoman empire, and has since 1930 been called Istanbul, the Turkish understanding of the sound of Greek: Stin Poli (= to the City). This Hymn survived in the Greek Orthodox Church and has both a secular and a religious character, as it records the end of the 1100 years glorious era, as well as it is lamenting the religious restrictions the Greek Orthodox Church was subjected to as a result of the Islamic Occupation.
