It combined the deacon's Invitation to the Prayer from Eastern Orthodox tradition and the People's Prayer from the Episcopalian rite. The syle is related to style antico of the Byzantinian psaltica. The mood is majestic and didactic, with a significant rhetorical component. Can be performed before or as a part of the People's Prayer. The accompaniment can be given to piano, organ, or strings.

St. Luke's mass is a traditional setting of 12 numbers based upon the texts in six languages: English, Latin, Greek, Hebrew, Arabic, and Russian. Each number is unique and specific for an ethnic tradition and a period. The styles are intentionally diverse; the music is tonal.
