Using a simplified harmonic language and the traditional alternation of Antiphon - Psalm verse form, the works from the series ennoble a liturgical service and are accessible to professional and semi-professional ensembles and soloists. Liturgically, I Am With You Always is the Communion Antiphon for the Feast of the Ascension and is appropriate at various other times during the liturgical year as well. Text from Matthew 28 and Psalm 68. This setting exists in three versions: 1) solo voice and organ; 2) solo voice, SATB, and organ; and 3) solo voice, SATB, ensemble, and organ.

He studied composition at the Royal College of Music in London under Hubert Parry and Frederick Bridge. Ager served as the organist and choirmaster at St. Andrew's Church in Birmingham for over 50 years. Ager also became Professor of Organ & Harmony at the Birmingham and Midland Institute School of Music (the predecessor of the Royal Birmingham Conservatoire) for nearly four decades. Although not as well-known as some of his contemporaries, Ager's music, including a variety of songs, choral, piano, and organ works, is worth exploring for those interested in late 19th and early 20th-century music. Perhaps his most famous composition is The Legend of St. Christopher, a cantata based on the medieval legend. Rejoicing is a beautiful hymn for SATB choir, which would be perfect for any number of concerts, festal days and services, such as Easter, Harvest, Earth Day, or for any suitable occasion. The register for all voices is suitable and accessible, making it an ideal addition to any choir’s repertoire. This version (in the original key of A major) has been re-engraved for both SATB short score, and long score – giving your choir the flexibility you may need. The short score has been kept as close to the original as possible, whilst the long score features some suggested extra dynamic markings. Re-imagined for double reed choir, it is a challenging and fun setting for this fugue. The different instruments take turns entering with the subject of the fugue, and interplay back and forth with the other instruments. The timbres of the different instruments adds a whole new textural dimension to this already fascinating work by J.S. Bach. I considered the need to breathe for each of these wind instruments, which obviously wasn't an issue for the original version intended for organ. This piece would be appropriate for advanced high school students, college students, or professionals. It would do well in a chamber music concert, in a church, or between acts of a larger ensemble concert, perhaps in another location of the auditorium while a (quiet!) set change is taking place. It would also work well as prelude or lobby music. The duration is just over three minutes (or longer if you prefer to take it slower). Each measure is numbered individually for convenience during rehearsals. I hope you will enjoy performing this piece as much as I have enjoyed arranging it! German.Hermann Schroeder (1904-1984) is one of the most important composers of Catholic church music in the 20th century. Apart from more than 100 organ works and masses, he also wrote numerous motets. The present four-part motet Freu dich, du werte Christenheit for mixed a cappella choir (SATB) was written in 1975. This old Resurrection song from the 16th century is based on a setting by the Franco-Flemish composer Johannes des Cleve (around 1529-1582) which has been skillfully transferred by Schroeder to the modern age with subtle harmonies. The tenor voice sings the cantus firmus and is embedded in archaic-seeming sounds typical of Schroeder by the other voices. This three-verse Resurrection song of about five minutes is perfect for church services at Easter.

During his studies at the High School of Poitiers, he was also the student of pianist Hélène d’Ambelle who was herself a student of the great French Pianist Alfred Cortot. It was his work with Jean-Albert Villard, the organist of the Cliquot organ of the Cathedral of Poitiers which would determine his vocation as an organist. Jacques Dussouil continued his studies in Paris with Noëlie Pierront and especially with Edouard SouberbielleHis duties at the Royan Cathedral lead him to also become a choral director and composer, founding one of the best Cathedral Choirs in France which he directed for many years.
