With Zwei lateinische Marienmotetten for mixed a cappella choir (SATB) and interlude for organ or string quintet, Andreas Pieper has created two gems of Marian devotion which are perfect for being used in church services. The two four-part chants pay homage to the Virgin Mary and refer to two different solemnities of the Roman Catholic Church celebrated in her honour. Whereas Assumpta est Maria is a motet for the Feast of the Assumption of Mary on 15 August, Benedicta es tu, virgo Maria refers to the Feast of the Immaculate Conception celebrated every year on 8 December. Both choral settings can be easily mastered by ambitious church choirs, and the interlude and postlude for organ or string quintet of Assumpta est Maria, the easier one of the two motets, can be easily performed even by amateur musicians.

Carl Orff's masterpiece Carmina Burana composed in 1936 undoubtedly is one of the best-known musical creations throughout the world. By popular request, we now publish a separate edition of the opening chorus O Fortuna taken from the piano score (ED 2877) of the complete work. This new separate edition provides the opportunity to perform O Fortuna in a mixed concert.

Andreas Pieper, born in 1958, studied church music at the Staatliche Hochschule fur Musik Westfalen-Lippe and composition with Roland Ploeger at the Lubeck Music Academy. In 2002, he was among the prize-winners of the composition competition of the European music festival 'Windrose' as part of the Ruhr Festival.
From meditative simplicity to the brilliant 'Alleluja', the atmospherically dense motet 'Justorum animae' interprets a famous text from the 'Book of Wisdom' about the hope of men beyond their transitoriness.

Another lullaby for insomniacs! Matthew Brown sets the poem of Alicia E. Stallings for mixed choir with piano accompaniment in his usual colourful manner. Partly forceful, partly sleepy, this piece is suitable for choirs who wish to feel their way slowly towards modern choral music.

'Daybreak' is a 16th-century love poem set to music by Matthew Brown for four-part chamber choir. Harmonic frictions spice up the tonal image of romantic love.

E. E. Cummings' poem about a bygone love, about despair, indifference to acceptance is set for mixed choir. Brown's music relives the story with hovering and grating sounds, demanding courage to use extremely different dynamics.

The Spanish composer Rafael Sanchez Mombiedro set the well-established text 'O Magnum Mysterium' on the Coming of God to music in a new and inspiring way. He plays with dynamics and strange harmonies, thus giving the concert programme of the experienced choirs that certain something.

Matthew Brown interprets the liturgical phrase Dona Nobis Pacem (meaning 'grant us peace') as the lifelong struggle of individuals to achieve peace in their own lives. These ideas are expressed by the music: forgetful, perhaps devoid of hope, fighting out battles.

Georg Kreisler equals scathing, dark black humour on the piano!
The Singphoniker have arranged Georg Kreisler's best known songs for all-male ensemble and recorded them on CD. Schott now publishes the corresponding music edition for mixed choir SATB with piano accompaniment. The topics range from the poisoning of pigeons to the love of a wonderful woman .to a tribute to the triangle. These pleasant arrangements for mixed choir SATB and piano with Kreisler's humorous texts most certainly create an exuberant atmosphere in the concert.

During his time as Master of the Queen's Music, Sir Peter Maxwell Davies wrote a new carol for Her Majesty the Queen each Christmas. Ave, Plena Gracia , written for Christmas 2009, was the fifth in this series after An Heavenly Song, Wonder Tidings, The Yule-tide Bell and Kings and Shepherds all of which are published in the Schott Royal Collection.

First performed in St. James's Palace by the choir of the Chapel Royal on the Epiphany at the end of the 2009/2010 Christmas period, Ave, Plena Gracia is a short and traditional Latin setting that would be perfect for amateur choirs looking for new repertoire.

The ".Loop Songs". by Bertrand Grö.ger (Jazzchor Freiburg) are modern choir exercises for all SATB groups. Originally conceived as warm-ups or to loosen up repertoire rehearsals, many songs are also suitable as concert songs.

Nino Rota's Mass was composed in Rome in 1962, the very same year when the Second Vatican Council formally opened in 1962, whose fundamental changes regarding the use of liturgical music directly found expression in Rota's work: As a result, the anticipation of Christmas was to be expressed by pure a cappella works without accompaniment in the Advent season.

Composer Matthew Brown, who is highly acclaimed in the USA, has set texts from the Dream Songs of the Native American Wintu tribe to music. The typically American style of composition is characterized by spherical sounds.

Nino Rota wurde vor allem durch seine Filmmusiken zu ".Der Pate". (Francis Ford Coppola) und zu Filmen von Federico Fellini (La dolce vita / Das susse Leben, Otto e mezzo / achteinhalb, Il Casanova u.a.) und Luchino Visconti (Il Gattopardo / Der Leopard, Rocco e i suoi fratelli / Rocco und seine Bruder) bekannt. Daneben hat er aber immer auch Kammermusik und Vokalmusik komponiert, wobei die Chormusik einen besonderen Stellenwert hat. Hierbei sind Melodik und Harmonik unmittelbar eingangig und der geringe Schwierigkeitsgrad macht seine Chorstucke auch Laienchoren erreichbar. Und gerade in Unum panem sind Chor, Kinderchor und Orgel wirkungsvoll eingesetzt.
