This is a very exciting and picture-painting Christmas carol suitable for church choirs and other choir concert venues. Piano accompaniment stands alone, however, other instruments may be added, director's choice. Imagine you're in the desert at midnight, pitch black. You can't see, but you can hear something coming toward you at a distance, which gets gradually louder. It passes before you and moves away from you, fading off into the distance. You see nothing, but you hear: "We are traveling thru this cold wint'ry night; our desert ships bearing presents for a King."
