Choral Choir (SATB) - Level 3 - SKU: A0.927456 Composed by Roger Jones, Alison Fuggle. Arranged by Annie Routley. Christian,Easter,Musical/Show,Praise & Worship,Sacred. Octavo. 98 pages. Christian Music Ministries #6135917. Published by Christian Music Ministries (A0.927456). Rock - a worship musical.Full piano score with SATB choir, solo parts and narration.Starting in Caesarea, Peter's story unfolds in flashback. From fishing, his 3 years on the road alongside Jesus and the disciples, his triumphs and failures. Jesus calls Peter 'the Rock' - but we see that only in Christ, and filled with His Spirit, is Peter on solid ground.Synopsis Traditional words introduce the theme of the Musical: Jesus is our ROCK OF AGES, but the story starts IN CAESAREA BESIDE THE SEA. Here, centurion Cornelius declares I’ve had a vision - but who can explain it, who can help? Cornelius’ household tell of Simon Peter, a disciple of Jesus, and we are taken back to Galilee when Peter, a fisherman, WORKING IN THE FAMILY BUSINESS, hears Jesus’ call to leave your nets and leave your boats. He responds I WILL FOLLOW YOU. For three years Peter follows Jesus, and when challenged declares YOU ARE MESSIAH, the Son of the living God! Jesus replies On this rock I will build my church, then, ominously, points towards Jerusalem. He and his followers eventually arrive in the city at Passover, and during the meal they wonder IN THIS BREAD, IN THIS WINE, is there love for me? At first reluctant, Peter allows Jesus to wash his feet. Events turn against Jesus; he is arrested, and Peter is afraid. The taunt SURELY YOU MUST HAVE BEEN WITH HIM sees Peter denying he ever knew Jesus. Then their eyes meet across the courtyard, and Peter is devastated by his own failure. But even at such an awful time as this, THE LOOK OF LOVE contains acceptance and hope. WERE YOU THERE WHEN THEY CRUCIFIED MY LORD? Peter wasn’t - he was in hiding along with many of the disciples. But after the resurrection, Jesus greets Peter and the others in Galilee: THIS IS THE PLACE – I am the Lord who comes to meet you here. Jesus asks: SIMON PETER, DO YOU LOVE ME? After being asked three times Peter reaches reality: Lord, you know everything … you know how much I love you! and receives the commission Feed my sheep. Peter and the disciples return to Jerusalem, and wait for the promised Holy Spirit. At Pentecost the Spirit comes, and as A CHOSEN PEOPLE, the followers of Jesus receive his power. Peter preaches, and thousands believe and respond JUST AS I AM … O Lamb of God I come. The Church is born and in the power of the Spirit begin WORKING IN THE FATHER’S BUSINESS, doing the things that Jesus did! Peter eventually arrives IN CAESAREA BESIDE THE SEA. He shares his vision with Cornelius and his household, and declares God has no favourites … you can be saved too … if you believe in Jesus. They believe, receive the power of the Spirit, and Gentiles also become members of the Chosen People, called out of darkness into wonderful light! Peter’s vision is fulfilled – the Gospel is for all who believe in Jesus. Peter declares HE IS THE STONE that the builders rejected … on Jesus the ROCK I will build my life! .

The piano part is of medium difficulty. This piece will be a popular addition to your Nativity play or Christmas services. Choral Choir (SATB) - Level 3 - SKU: A0.1240133 Composed by Debbie Allen. Children,Contemporary,Contest,Festival,Folk,Historic. Octavo. 14 pages. Nottingham Scores #835514. Published by Nottingham Scores (A0.1240133). Mystery of the Hills is an S.A.T.B. choral work describing the wonder of the Flint Hills, a region in East Central Kansas.  I’m not a native Kansan, but whenever I drive through this area, I am enthralled by the infinite sense of expanse and gently rolling terrain. Geologists believe there was an inland seaway that covered central North America starting 290 million years ago. Over time, alternating layers of hard limestone and softer shale rocks formed. It is believed erosion caused the varied elevations of terrain, unique to the slopes of the Flint Hills. These surface layers of limestone and chert prevented the settler’s ability to farm, which in turn preserved the integrity of the soil. Today, the prairie grasses can reach 10 feet tall if not managed.  The rich grasses are prime for feeding livestock. This music attempts to provide images of traveling through the Flint Hills today, while imagining changes over eons of time, due to weather and eventually, human interaction.  Generally, the upper voices provide the imagery and some history, while the lower voices describe a bedrock foundation.  Describing the rock foundation found in the Flint Hills is also a metaphor for human strife and struggle as man, among living flora and fauna, interact with the area. The vocal ranges and harmonies are accessible for young ensembles, whether in development or with years of experience.

Choral Choir (SATB) - Level 3 - SKU: A0.1019370 Composed by Kevin Longley. Christian,Praise & Worship,Sacred. Octavo. 12 pages. Kevin Longley #6532899. Published by Kevin Longley (A0.1019370). Bring His LoveInspiration (below is a note I sent to my sister) Hi Karen! In the fall of last year I started working on a new church anthem for FUMC. Over the years your choir has sung several pieces of mine; so I felt I should do something in return. I quickly got an idea for the music only (sometimes I will get some lyric ideas also, but didn't this time.) By the first of the year I had the basic structure sketched out on paper but then put it aside for Easter Rehearsals. When the pandemic stopped all church choirs I returned to the music and by early May had the score in the computer, close to completion. At that point I still didn't have any lyrics but began feeling that it should be about God's creation. All I could envision was a singer with his arms stretched out to the sun, the ocean, the moon, etc. while singing this piece. So I started searching for a possible prayer that might fit and came upon Canticle of the Son. As I read it through I liked the structure and began sketching out the lyrics. I couldn't help but wonder what our response should be to God's creation. How should we thank him or praise him or take care of it? I then turned my thoughts to FUMC and considered this - what phrase would sum up this churches mission? I almost immediately got Bring His Love. From there the balance of the lyrics fell into place. So attached is the recording and the music. I have no expectations but hope you and the choir enjoy the music. The Music The piece starts with 16th note broken chords in the upper register of the piano which lead to the opening theme. A tenor soloist begins by singing God's praises for all he has given us; ending with the thought How can we thank such kindness?; The answer Bring His Love the B section. At its conclusion we are returned to the opening theme, this time sung by the choir which again leads us to the same questionHow can we thank such kindness?, The answer Bring His Love the B section. A C section is then introduced with a change to a more beat driven accompaniment with the vocals alternating between the upper and lower voices. A return to the opening theme, with minimal chordal accompaniment, features the original soloist but then adds a second voice leading to a duet and a return to the broken chord accompaniment.. Finally the B section,Bring His Love is repeated and concludes in a rousing fashion.. Program Notes The piece could work very well for Earth Day celebrations.

Choral Choir,Choral (SATB) - Level 3 - SKU: A0.522059 Composed by Colin Kirkpatrick. A Cappella,Christmas,Praise & Worship,Sacred. 10 pages. Colin Kirkpatrick Publications #4628229. Published by Colin Kirkpatrick Publications (A0.522059). This is a dramatic and attractive setting of the traditional text by Nahum Tate (1652-1715). Tate was an Anglo-Irish poet, hymn writer and lyricist, who became Poet Laureate in 1692. He’s best known for The History of King Lear, his 1681 adaptation of Shakespeare's play. He also wrote the libretto for Henry Purcell's timeless opera, Dido and Aeneas. The traditional melody of While Shepherds Watched is well-known, but this new setting brings in a wealth of new musical material. This is a tuneful work and is sure to be enjoyed by your singers and audiences alike. It is in 2/2 time throughout but journeys through several contrasting keys. It’s also available for SSA and SAT choirs with keyboard accompaniment.  There’s an a cappella section in the middle and more suited to experienced singers. The piano part is not difficult and should be within the reach of any competent pianist. This piece would be ideal for Nativity presentations or would make an excellent addition to your Christmas service or concert. With a duration of 03:05 the vocal ranges in the SATB version are as follows: Soprano: D4 – G5; Alto A3 – D5; Tenor: C3 – E4 and Bass F2 – C4. If you like this choral piece, you might also be interested in other Colin Kirkpatrick Nativity Anthems in this series And a Star is Shining in the East, See this Little Town, I Saw Three Ships, Sing! Choral Choir (SATB divisi) - Level 4 - SKU: A0.1265239 Composed by Kirsten Duncan. A Cappella,Contemporary. Octavo. 12 pages. Shrub Creative #858085. Published by Shrub Creative (A0.1265239). Composed by Kirsten Duncan. Contemporary choral SATB a cappella. A4, 12 pages (including covers). Published by Shrub Creative. Item number 2023-01. ISMN 9790900969910. A narrative work for intermediate unaccompanied mixed choirs (SATB divisi, a cappella), setting Lewis Carroll’s epic adventure poem ‘Jabberwocky’. Score includes piano reduction for rehearsal, and pronunciation guide. In Lewis Carroll’s ‘Jabberwocky’, published in his 1871 novel Through the Looking-Glass, a “beamish boy†sets out on an adventure through a mysterious land populated by fantastical creatures, vanquishes a fearsome beast and returns triumphantly home. Central to the enduring appeal of the poem is Carroll’s linguistic creativity. There are at least 16 other choral settings of ‘Jabberwocky’, so why choose this one? Like most, Kirsten Duncan’s composition seeks to express the meanings of the words and actions in the text through musical ideas. Unlike most, this piece is composed for intermediate to advanced mixed adult choirs (SATB divisi) without any instrumental accompaniment, and combines the tradition of Anglican chant (evident in the final stanza) with a mood of fireside storytelling for a ripping musical yarn of high adventure. Kirsten Duncan has had a lifelong passion for choral singing. Now based in Canberra, Australia, she has performed with Gaudeamus (Judith Clingan), Hamburg International School (ISH) Singers, the choirs of Christ Church St Laurence Sydney (Dr Neil McEwan), The Resonants (Helen Swan) and others. Kirsten started composing choral music in 2015, contributing to the musical community that has been a stabilising thread throughout her life. She especially thanks Helen Swan and The Resonants for giving voice to this composition. Visit kirstenduncan.com.au to notify about performances of this music, and find more choral works and information. Copyright © 2023 KIRSTEN DUNCAN.
