Published by Paladino Editions (A0.1273679). Niccolò Paganini wrote his Cantabile, Op. 17, in 1824, at the height of his career. It could almost be regarded to be an antipode to his image of the bewitched violinist – in 1820, he had published the famous Capricci, Op. 1, with Ricordi. The fact that Paganini himself never played his most famous virtuoso pieces in concert has long been forgotten. All his other compositions are proof of his legendary art of violin playing which, according to a number of different legends, had its origin in a pact with the devil.

Shallow is a song performed by American singer-songwriter Lady Gaga and American actor and filmaker Bradley Cooper. It was released on September 27, 2018, by Interscope Records as the lead single from the soundtrack for the 2018 film, A Star Is Born (2018). Shallow was written by Gaga with Andrew Wyatt, Anthony Rossomando and Mark Ronson, and produced by Gaga with Benjamin Rice. It is heard three times in the film, most prominently during a sequence when Cooper's character Jackson Maine invites Gaga's character Ally to perform it onstage with him. The scene was filmed in front of a live audience at the Greek Theater in Los Angeles.Shallow is a pivotal moment in A Star Is Born, since it speaks about Ally and Jackson's conversations. Gaga wrote it from Ally's point-of-view with the self-aware lyrics asking each other if they are content being who they are. A country and folk pop power ballad, Shallow finds Gaga and Cooper trading verses and gradually moves toward the final chorus with a vocal run by Gaga. The recording is interspersed with the sound of audience noise and applause. Gaga premiered it on DJ Zane Lowe's Beats 1 radio show while giving an interview about the film. Published by David Warin Solomons (A0.576903). Instrumental arrangement of my classical-folk crossover setting of Prévert's poem Pour faire le portrait d'un oiseau (To paint the portrait of a bird). Prévert indicates that you can never capture the real essence of a bird. You can paint a cage, a tree branch for it to sing on, but you have to wait for the actual bird itself to enter your painting - only then can you sign your painting, using a feather from that bird. The music has a Dorian feel - ie with a minor third and seventh but often with a raised sixth - (in this case F#s in an otherwise A minor context). I have provided full score and separate parts and also the melody instrument part with chord names, to enable the guitarist to read along with the melody instrument player and opt for interpretations other than the notated version (eg strumming, rasgueado etc). The production for Cello and Guitar is, in general, quite scarce, and while one could be repelled from this instrumentation because of the potential sound balance issues, the actual result is, in truth, remarkable and surprising at the same time.During the 1810s, Dotzauer wrote three opuses involving the guitar, making us assume there could have been a player to serve as source for his inspiration. This Pot-pourri, Op. 21, composed around 1811 and marked for publication by Breitkopf & Härtel only in 1817, is a 9-minutes-long piece in five parts in the key of E minor. A dramatic, long introduction leads the way to a Gavotte-like Andante, whose melody is constantly varied and developed to put the singing qualities of the soloist in the spotlight. A dreaming Larghetto, in G major, prepares us for the coming back of the Andante, and for the closing, rushing Presto. This edition comes in a full score and cello part that closely follow Dotzauer’s instructions, plus several bonuses: A guitar part with annotations by Emanuele Buono, 1st-prize winner of the “Michele Pittaluga” competition in 2013Two additional cello parts, one with historical performance suggestions by Australian cellist Josephine Vains, and one with modern performance suggestions by Michele Galvagno.
