Walking in the Air is the iconic, beautiful song used in the 1982 animated film 'The Snowman'. The Welsh child singer, Aled Jones, popularised the song in a single released in 1985 to great commercial success.

This version is for four guitars of intermediate level. In the single download you will receive:

The actual melody is much older and its origin unknown.The arrangement here is intended for an ensemble of guitars of mixed levels of experience. The verses and chorus are set in both G major, A major and then G major again. Groups can shorten or lengthen a performance if desired, according to experience.Arrangement details are as follows:Guitar 1 - has the main melody and also plays in harmony with Guitar 2. Higher-position playing is required later in the arrangement, if the the full version is performed.Guitar 2 - often harmonises, and plays in canon with Guitar 1. There is some high-position playing required in the full version.Guitar 3 - is intended for beginners and is an optional part. A short, easy arrangement of the theme from Antonin Dvorak's famous New World Symphony (2nd Movement).

This arrangement provides a full score plus individual parts in both notes and TAB. The notes and TAB are given on separate sheets as I am aware that some teachers avoid TAB.

The parts are equally balanced with every guitarist enjoying some melodic interest.

The level is suitable for very early stage players. The music:

(1) Remains in open position
(2) Uses finger-friendly pentatonic shapes (as supported by many major pedagogic schemes)
(3) Requires players to alternate single notes between both thumb and fingers
(4) Gives time and space before engaging more-tricky fretted notes.

Perhapsour instrument?s greatest joy is the fact that it exists in so many forms andstyles of music. Some players prefer the electric guitar and read from TAB,others have a classical background and are therefore more familiar with notes;others still prefer reading from chord charts with fretboard diagrams.

Thisdownload considers all of these musicians.

Guitar1 is the main tune, as played by Hank Marvin in The iconic recording made byThe Shadows. The music is provided in both notes and TAB.

Guitar 2is a part with chords. This is given with chord symbols, fretboard diagrams andrhythm patterns.

Guitar3 is designed to include the less-experienced player. It is in open positionand the part, being easy to read, is given in notes. This is an optional part.

Guitar 4is a transcription of the bass line. It is an interesting andrhythmically-exciting part. It is in simple positions and is given in notesonly.

Guitar4 can also be played by a bass guitar. The part is also given in bass clef(sounding an octave lower).

This is one of the most iconic pop songs ever written and has been covered by a huge range of international artists.

This arrangement has been designed to make technical playing as easy as possible and to maximise musical interest; even the easiest part has melodic interest due to the pentatonic shapes employed.
