CAN YOU FEEL THE LOVE TONIGHT - 4 GUITARS or LARGE ENSEMBLEFor Classical or Acoustic Guitar - sometimes it's erroneously listed here as Electric Guitar.Derek Hasted writes I first arranged this lovely tune for The Hampshire Guitar Orchestra, and my arrangement here produces the same big sound from an intermediate guitar quartet or large ensemble. School teachers will find this is an ideal piece for an end of semester concert, and adult ensembles will find it makes a restful interlude piece in a full-length concert.My arrangement comprises two verses and a Coda, but either verse could be repeated to make an even longer performance piece. There are no page turns.Guitar 1 suits the seventh position, and guitar 4 (which is in two voices) is all in the first and second position. The middle parts could be taken in a variety of positions, and I have left the fingering for you to choose. There are many places where the faster notes can be slurred, and this does make a positive difference to the overall fluidity of the piece.There are suggested dynamics which make the piece come alive.I hope you enjoy playing this piece!

THE LONELY SHEPHERD (Kill Bill) - GUITAR QUARTET/large ensembleFor Classical or Acoustic GuitarDerek Hasted writes This charming instrumental might be known to you from Quentin Tarantino’s “Kill Bill”, or from the moving version by André Rieu, featuring Pan Pipes.Or maybe this is the first time you’ve come across this haunting melody, set above a bubbling accompaniment.My arrangement will suit a mixed ability guitar quartet or a larger ensemble. Guitars 3 and 4 are early intermediate, and Guitars 1 and 2 are intermediate.Note : I have also published a version for 3 guitars or larger ensemble in which all the parts are intermediate - find it easily from my website (below)Guitar 4 is tuned to 6=D to add depth to the D minor chords. There’s also a Guitar 4 part set in bass clef for deeper guitars - here the tuning is normal, and towards the end the bass is taken up an octave for variation, without getting tangled in the accompaniment parts. SUCCESSION TV THEME - for 4 GUITARS/Large EnsembleDerek Hasted writes Originally set in the key C minor, this quirky, short, TV theme tends to prove something of an ear worm with those who hear it. Perfect to close the first half of a concert, then!I've moved the piece into the key of E minor, partly to make best use of the guitar neck, and partly to allow open string harmonics to recreate effortlessly the octave jumps in the original piano chords.I’ve added fingering where I hope it will help. The main theme moves from player to player, so that no single player has extended runs at speed and the audience will enjoy an amazing stereo effect too. The dynamics show where the tune needs to be brought out.The original is very fast, and you may find, as I do, that it breathes better on guitar if taken 10% slower, with the bonus of making the piece just that little bit longer too.I have also arranged this for guitar duet, in an arrangement that is slightly more demanding - find it from my website below.I hope you enjoy playing this piece!This is one of a large and growing range of accessible ensembles from experienced arranger Derek Hasted, and is supplied as full score and parts. PORTSMOUTH - 4 GUITARS or LARGE ENSEMBLEFor Classical or Acoustic Guitar - sometimes it's erroneously listed here as Electric Guitar.Derek Hasted writes Although this piece was made famous by Mike Oldfield, it first appeared in John Playford’s “The Dancing Master†in 1701, and also found fame in the hands of Ralph Vaughan Williams. My arrangement starts with a slow, teasing, introduction, and introduces the famous melody very slowly and gently. “What Shall We Do With The Drunken Sailor†also makes a few appearances before we let the brakes off and burst into the tune that many people know. The music isn’t hard to play, and each line has some music interest, though only Guitar 1 has to venture up the neck. It’s ideal for a mixed ability ensemble, and runs at nearly five minutes, to make a substantial concert item that builds up and up. This arrangement was a firm favourite with the Hampshire Guitar Orchestra (HAGO) and their audiences. I hope you enjoy this piece as much as HAGO did!
