This arrangement comes in the following format, all provided in this one download:*A score with notes and TAB*A score with notes only (to facilitate page turns at the request of teachers)*Parts in notes and TAB*Parts with notes onlyThe melody set here is traditionally used for a setting of the beautiful Robert \'Rabbie\' Burns poem \'Ye Banks and Braes\'. The actual melody is much older and its origin unknown.The arrangement here is intended for an ensemble of guitars of mixed levels of experience. The verses and chorus are set in both G major, A major and then G major again. Groups can shorten or lengthen a performance if desired, according to experience.Arrangement details are as follows:Guitar 1 - has the main melody and also plays in harmony with Guitar 2. Higher-position playing is required later in the arrangement, if the the full version is performed.Guitar 2 - often harmonises, and plays in canon with Guitar 1. There is some high-position playing required in the full version.Guitar 3 - is intended for beginners and is an optional part. It consists of dotted half notes (minims) throughout.Guitar 4 - has chords throughout. I have provided chord symbols for those familiar with this system. The harmonies given in the notes and TAB are designed to facilitate left-hand chord changes. Canon on Tongo for four guitars by Dan Jones

Canon on Tongo is a canon for four guitars at ten-bar intervals. At bar 61, guitar one returns to the beginning of the piece followed by the three others before a joint coda at bar 101. The da capo at bar 61 corresponds with the golden section of the piece.

The fingering is chosen to allow players to respect the full duration of the lines (where possible). The resonance created is also very important.

Tongo is a call-and-response melody from the Polynesian Islands.

Thisarrangement of Apache has been madewith real-world guitar teachers and ensembles in mind.

Perhapsour instrument?s greatest joy is the fact that it exists in so many forms andstyles of music. Some players prefer the electric guitar and read from TAB,others have a classical background and are therefore more familiar with notes;others still prefer reading from chord charts with fretboard diagrams.

Thisdownload considers all of these musicians.

Guitar1 is the main tune, as played by Hank Marvin in The iconic recording made byThe Shadows. The music is provided in both notes and TAB.

Guitar 2is a part with chords. This is given with chord symbols, fretboard diagrams andrhythm patterns.

Guitar3 is designed to include the less-experienced player. It is in open positionand the part, being easy to read, is given in notes. This is an optional part.

Guitar 4is a transcription of the bass line. It is an interesting andrhythmically-exciting part. It is in simple positions and is given in notesonly.

Guitar4 can also be played by a bass guitar. The part is also given in bass clef(sounding an octave lower).

This is one of the most iconic pop songs ever written and has been covered by a huge range of international artists.

This arrangement has been designed to make technical playing as easy as possible and to maximise musical interest; even the easiest part has melodic interest due to the pentatonic shapes employed.

This arrangement is intended for intermediate level guitarists. It avoids unnatural barre shapes and shares melodic interest across all of the parts.

Thisarrangement of Rockin? Around the Christmas Tree is written for a guitarquartet although it may also be performed by a large guitar ensemble with fourparts. The Guitar 4 part may also bedoubled on bass. The rhythms in thisarrangement are rather simple. The rangefor guitar 1 goes to a high D on the tenth fret for only one note. This should be considered an intermediatelevel arrangement and ideal for Year 2, Quarter 2.
