This arrangement comes in the following format, all provided in this one download:*A score with notes and TAB*A score with notes only (to facilitate page turns at the request of teachers)*Parts in notes and TAB*Parts with notes onlyThe melody set here is traditionally used for a setting of the beautiful Robert \'Rabbie\' Burns poem \'Ye Banks and Braes\'. The actual melody is much older and its origin unknown.The arrangement here is intended for an ensemble of guitars of mixed levels of experience. The verses and chorus are set in both G major, A major and then G major again. Groups can shorten or lengthen a performance if desired, according to experience.Arrangement details are as follows:Guitar 1 - has the main melody and also plays in harmony with Guitar 2. Higher-position playing is required later in the arrangement, if the the full version is performed.Guitar 2 - often harmonises, and plays in canon with Guitar 1. There is some high-position playing required in the full version.Guitar 3 - is intended for beginners and is an optional part. It consists of dotted half notes (minims) throughout.Guitar 4 - has chords throughout. I have provided chord symbols for those familiar with this system. The harmonies given in the notes and TAB are designed to facilitate left-hand chord changes. Perhapsour instrument?s greatest joy is the fact that it exists in so many forms andstyles of music. Some players prefer the electric guitar and read from TAB,others have a classical background and are therefore more familiar with notes;others still prefer reading from chord charts with fretboard diagrams.

Thisdownload considers all of these musicians.

Guitar1 is the main tune, as played by Hank Marvin in The iconic recording made byThe Shadows. The music is provided in both notes and TAB.

Guitar 2is a part with chords. This is given with chord symbols, fretboard diagrams andrhythm patterns.

Guitar3 is designed to include the less-experienced player. It is in open positionand the part, being easy to read, is given in notes. This is an optional part.

Guitar 4is a transcription of the bass line. It is an interesting andrhythmically-exciting part. It is in simple positions and is given in notesonly.

Guitar4 can also be played by a bass guitar. The part is also given in bass clef(sounding an octave lower).

Originally intended as an inside joke for the LAGQ members, this clever and comical send-up of Pachelbel's beautiful (and somewhat overplayed) melody has become a standard LAGQ encore and an internet sensation. Featured in performance on the Mel Bay DVD LAGQ Live at the Sheldon, this unique arrangement presents the pristine Baroque theme, and then adapts it in a number of unexpected musical styles: Reggae, salsa, bluegrass, jazz, flamenco, disco, and even punk. This is the only arrangement in the LAGQ repertoire that was a true group-project with all four members (John Dearman, William Kanengiser, Scott Tennant and Andrew York) contributing; as a special bonus, new LAGQ member Matt Greif has added an alternative solo for the jazz section. Carefully notated to capture the nuances of LAGQ's stylistic flair, the parts are presented in standard notation as well as in tablature for those less familiar with note-reading. It's a challenging and fun re-imagining of a timeless classic.
