Published by RayThompsonMusic (A0.553769). This music was originally attributed to Giovanni Pergolesi, as they were in a Mr R. Bremner's original 1780 London publication and also arranged by Hugo Riemann, and again wrongly attributed to Giovanni Pergolesi.It is actually made up of 3 different pieces: Gallo's 2nd Trio Sonata in Bb. Mvts I and III, and Trio Sonata No 8 in Eb.All 3 Gallo mvts were used by Igor Stravinsky in the 3rd mvt. Scherzinoof his Neo Classical Pulcinella Suite. There is few bars joining the 3 mvts...one is Stravinsky's own, one is from a Pergolesi Opera.The Pulcinella Suite for small chamber orchestra and 3 vocalists which was derived from the ballet, was written in 1922 and has no vocal parts. But even though Stravinsky used Pergolesi's(which were in this case Gallo's) melodies and bass lines with little change, he managed to put his own unmistakable stamp on the music through his use of modern harmonies and occasional rhythmic modifications.I have used transcriptions of the original pieces, but have transposed them into the keys used by Stravinsky. I have included the original Pergolesi Aria as the first link, and a scale passage of my own for the second.My arrangement is in the same format as Stravinsky's so is a complete work.I have another upload with the 3 separate movts in their original keys.This arrangement is interesting to play and  do not sound too dissimilar to Stravinsky's final work.It is arranged for clarinet trio (2 Bb and bass)https://youtu.be/PMC-84MmuYw

The first is a kind of playful fugato, where each player enters in canon as the three play around with the melodic material. . The second movement is slow, wistful and languorous. All three will need good breath control. The third movement requires good technique and tonguing. it flies along like swallows in summer, zipping here and there, never still. This movement is really testing as the melodic material progresses up a scale from A to Bb to C etc returning to A at the end.

One cannot often find the origin of a folk tune or a definitive form, and bewares of modern arrangements (including mine!) The REFRAIN is Kolomeike, кoлoмийкa, a very quick duple-time dance tune, with a variable scale, popular in Ukraine for weddings and other festive occasions, often led by a clarinet with soft reed and many smears. EPISODES are mostly sad love-songs: A. Чом ти не прийшов: a girl sings Why did you not come and meet me in the moonlight? Wouldn't your mother let you? Dorian mode. B. Slow Waltz: I have seen this with G major accompaniment, but I have used G mixolydian: a popular mode in Ukraine.The bass has the melody. C. O, in the cherry orchard Ой, у Вишневому Саду. A girl (Clarinet) sings that she begged her boyfriend to take her home from the orchard, as it was late, but he took a different girl. Mother knows what has been going on, but is sympathetic. G minor. D Tanietz: a very fast dance tune led by the Clarinet: I do not know its name. E a reprise of the Cherry Orchard. F.Ти ж мене підманула You tricked me and let me down. I have seen and heard this sung cheerfully and very fast, but its lyrics are really sad. A young man complains that his girlfriend never turns up for their dates. Players will choose a tempo. The basic melody was attributed to Semen Klimovski. Here, the Bass sings the melody. DURATION: 11 minutes. INSTRUMENTATION: Two Bb CLarinets, Bass Clarinet.

It is composed for trio, it consists of 3 connected movements and the main motif represents all 3 inversions of the C major chord.In the first movement the mentioned motif is worked out in numerous variants. The second movement is written in the parallel minor scale, where the main motif from the first movement appears only at certain spots in a restrained way. The third movement is a dancing merge of both previous movements. The liaison of the individual motifs becomes tighter until they completely melt down to the end.The PDF contains the score and all parts. In 1853 Charles Czerny composed a set of 20 easy piano pieces which he called Amusement des Jeunes Amateurs (Amusement for Young Amateurs); they were subtitled Petites et Brillantes Recreations (Small and Brilliant Recreations). Let's just say they are easy fun little pieces! All of the pieces were loosely based on a folk song or a popular theme from a classical composer. One of them was based on a popular folk Russian polka, so he called it Polka Russe.I have taken Polka Russe and freely arranged it for Instrumental Trio, using some of Czerny's themes, re-arranging them into parts, and also re-ordering them into my own Rondo. Form is Intro-ABACADA-Coda. I have broken up his melodies and spread them across all three parts; each part is of equal importance and each part independently adds to the stunning melodic weaving. Parts are mostly scales and arpeggios. It requires careful counting and close attention to rhythmic interplay, but sounds quite advanced and dramatic when all details are observed. This piece is really quite Easy, I have just marked it Early Intermediate because of the Allegretto vivace tempo, the note range (two octaves), and the necessary counting. A fun piece to show your technique and musicianship as a group in any concert. 1:45 minutes, 8 pages score, 3 pages @ part(Temporary recording of piano reduction of parts)
