Saxophone Trio,Woodwind Ensemble Alto Saxophone,Baritone Saxophone,Soprano Saxophone - Level 3 - Digital Download SKU: A0.1342330 Composed by Traditional. Arranged by James M. Guthrie. Chamber,Christian,Christmas,Holiday,Traditional. 3 pages. Jmsgu3 #927846. Published by jmsgu3 (A0.1342330). Greensleeves is a traditional English folk song that has several interesting facts associated with it:Origin: The song's origin is uncertain, and there is no consensus on who composed it. It has been attributed to Henry VIII, the King of England, but this association is considered erroneous, and the song is more likely to be Elizabethan in origin.Christmas Carol: The tune of Greensleeves is used for the classic Christmas carol What Child Is This?Lyrics: The song's lyrics are about a painful romantic problem and include what some historians view as subtly salacious content. The lyrics deal with a spurned lover accusing Lady Greensleeves of casting him off discourteously despite his love for her. The song's scandalous twist is hidden in its title, and its exact meaning has been debated for centuries.Cultural References: The tune was used as the slow march of the London Trained Bands in the 16th and 17th centuries. It was adopted as the quick march of the 7th (City of London) Battalion London Regiment during World War I. Additionally, the tune has been referenced in literature, such as in Shakespeare's The Merry Wives of Windsor.Popularity: In some parts of the world, the Greensleeves tune is famous as a standard chime for ice cream vans. These facts make Greensleeves a fascinating and culturally significant piece of music with a rich history and diverse interpretations.

Woodwind Ensemble,Woodwind Trio Alto Saxophone,Baritone Saxophone,Clarinet,Flute,Soprano Saxophone,Tenor Saxophone - Level 2 - Digital Download SKU: A0.568484 Composed by Sebastina de Yvradier (1809â??1865). Arranged by Thomas Graf. Folk,World. 12 pages. Thomas Graf - the-hit-factory.com #2961267. Published by Thomas Graf - the-hit-factory.com (A0.568484). La Paloma is a popular Spanish song that has been produced and reinterpreted in diverse cultures, settings, arrangements, and recordings over the last 140 years. The song was composed and written by the Spanish composer from the Basque region Sebastián Iradier (later Yradier) after he visited Cuba in 1861. Iradier may have composed La Paloma around 1863, just two years before he died in Spain in obscurity, never to learn how popular his song would become. La Paloma belongs to a genre of songs called Habaneras, a musical style developed in 19th-century Spain that is still today very much present in the form of folk songs and formal compositions, particularly in the Northern Basque Region and East Coast (Catalonia and Valencia) regions of the country. Like all Habaneras, its characteristic and distinct rhythm reflects the fusion of the local Cuban songs that the Spanish sailors of the time brought back with them from their travels to the island, with the rhythm structure of the flamenco tanguillo gaditano (original from Cádiz, Andalusia). Very quickly La Paloma became popular outside of Spain, particularly in Mexico, and soon spread around the world. In many places, including Afghanistan, Hawaii, the Philippines, Germany, Romania, Zanzibar, and Goa it gained the status of a quasi-folk song. Over the years the popularity of La Paloma has surged and receded periodically, but never subsided. It may be considered one of the first universal popular hits and has appealed to artists of diverse musical backgrounds.[1] There are more than one thousand versions of this song, and that together with Yesterday by the Beatles, is one of the most recorded songs in the history of music. Instrumentation: Part I (Soprano/Alto), Part II (Alto), Part III (Tenor) Listen to the recording - a challenge for your ensemble. Saxophone Trio,Woodwind Ensemble Baritone Saxophone - Level 2 - Digital Download SKU: A0.1147503 Composed by Ludwig van Beethoven. Arranged by Ander. Christmas,Classical,Instructional,March,Romantic Period. 9 pages. Woods Only, Arrangements #747741. Published by Woods Only, Arrangements (A0.1147503). This arrangement adapted for baritone saxophone trio was designed to make its listeners weep with emotion, because the adaptation preserves the original essence of the work, keeping its integrity faithful to what Beethoven wanted to transmit, with only a slight change in tone and addition of harmonic resources in the structure of the arrangement. Even though it is a funeral march, it is well suited for any musical performance occasion, being intended for beginner students who want to immerse themselves in the universe of romantic music, and nothing better than starting with the transitional composer of this period, which also does not prevent professional teachers from using it for recitals, academic presentations or didactic material in their classes as an ensemble practice. Ludwig van Beethoven's Piano Sonata No. 14 in C minor sharp, Op. 27, No. 2, is one of his most popular compositions and was an audience favorite even in his day. Written when Beethoven was 31, the Moonlight Sonata (Mondscheinsonate in German) was composed after he finished some commissioned works, but there is no evidence that he was hired to write this work. It did not receive its nickname until 1832, five years after Beethoven's death. It was the critic Ludwig Rellstab who compared the music to a moonlighting on Lake Lucerne. This comparison was adopted as a nickname for the work. Called Quasi una fantasia by the author - like its companion Op. 27, No. 1 - the piece was completed in 1801 and dedicated the following year to one of the composer's pupils. Beethoven chose to open the sonata with a slow, hypnotic arpeggio movement, the best known of the entire work. The dotted rhythm of its minimal melody evokes the tradition of 'Trauermusik' (funeral music).

5 Famous Songs by Bach for Alto Sax Trio

Saxophone Trio,Woodwind Ensemble Alto Saxophone - Level 2 - Digital Download SKU: A0.11…

Saxophone Trio,Woodwind Ensemble Alto Saxophone - Level 2 - Digital Download SKU: A0.1138515 Composed by Christian Petzold, Johann Sebastian Bach, and Martin Luther. Arranged by Ander. Baroque,Easter,Renaissance,Sacred,Wedding. 38 pages. Woods Only, Arrangements #738855. Published by Woods Only, Arrangements (A0.1138515). This album contains 5 of Johann Sebastian Bach's most famous and versatile pieces for alto saxophone trio, all very well suited for the beginners who want to get to know the baroque repertoire. They are also suitable for performances at events such as: weddings, Christian and church ceremonies, Easter, and academic recitals or concerts. They can be used in music institutions and by teachers as repertoire material and study methods, either for performance or instrumental technique. This collection includes a totally free bonus for you to enjoy: Martin Luther's A Mighty Fortress is Our God, a Renaissance sacred song for choir, which has been adapted for this set. 1: Air on the G String - The original piece is part of Johann Sebastian Bach's Suite No. 3 for orchestra, in D Major, BWV 1068, written for Prince Leopold of Anhalt. The so-called Air on the G String dates from one of these latter employments. In the service of the Prince of Cöthen, Bach composed not only the famous Brandenburg Concertos, but also several orchestral suites, from the third of which comes the Air on the G String. This curious title derives from a later arrangement of this piece for violin solo, in which the melody is played entirely on the lower, higher string of the instrument. 2: Arioso - The Cantata 156 (BWV 156) was written for the third Sunday after Epiphany in 1729, and was first performed on January 23 of that year. The text is by Picander, one of Bach's favorite librettists. Of the four cantatas written by Bach for the feast, it was the last and only one scored for solo voice. This is a choral cantata, employing a choral melody in several movements. Cantata 156, in fact, employs two different choral melodies and texts in the second and sixth movements. A cantata is a sung symphony consisting of several parts, one of which is the Arioso, which is the initial instrumental part. 3: Jesu, joy of man's desiring - This is one of Bach's most beautiful cantatas, made famous by the Jesus the Joy of Men chorus. It was originally composed for Advent 1716 in Weimar. Years later, already in Leipzig, Advent was tempus clausum, there was no music in the churches. Bach then reworked it for the Feast of Mary's Visitation. It is the final chorale of the cantata Herz und Mund und Tat und Leben. Although it is the 32nd cantata composed by Bach, of those that have survived, it was given BWV 147 in the complete catalog of his works. 4: O Jesulein süss, o Jesulein mild - The Jesulein süß, the Jesulein mild is an original traditional German choral melody for voice and continuous bass arranged by Johann Sebastian Bach around 1735. With lyrics by Valentin Thilo, O Jesulein süss is a sacred melody adapted and catalogued as BWV 493. The first translation is by Dirk van Hogendorp, who made it more of a song for the time of suffering. 5: Minuet in G major - This famous piece has traditionally been attributed to Johann Sebastian Bach, as it appears in the Notebook for Anna Magdalena , a notebook that Bach gave to his wife Anna Magdalena in 1725 and which was to be filled with the favorite selections of Bach family members. However, recent research has concluded that this minuet, sometimes referred to as BWV Anhang 114. was probably composed by Christian Petzold, a German composer and organist contemporary with Bach. Bonus: A Mighty Fortress is Our God, by Martin Luther - Ein feste Burg ist unser Gott is a hymn written by Martin Luther probably before 1529. The melody was also considered his work for a long time, but it was created at least with the collaboration of Johann Walter. The song is of great symbolic power for Protestantism, where it is also known as Deus noster refugium et virtus. Considered one of the most important hymns in the history of Christianity, it was considered by the Christian poet Johann Heirich Heine (1797-1856) to be the Marseillaise of the Reformation, in an allusion to the French national anthem.

Divertimento in B-Flat, K.439b no 2

Saxophone Trio,Woodwind Ensemble Alto Saxophone,Baritone Saxophone,Soprano Saxophone,Tenor Saxophone - Level 4 - Digital Download SKU: A0.1405116 Composed by Wolfgang Amadeus Mozart. Arranged by Robert Stevens. Chamber,Classical. 60 pages. SAXpress.com #988156. Published by SAXpress.com (A0.1405116). Divertimento in B Flat (1783) K439b no 2 W. A. Mozart ((1756 – 1791)) Saxophone Trio, flexible instrumentation Divertimento in B Flat K.439b by Mozart, arranged for sax trio, flexible instrumentation. This is number two of a set of five divertimentos written around 1783. Originally, the works were written for 3 basset horns but were also performed by other wind and string ensembles. They are commonly performed by two clarinets and a bassoon today. This arrangement is for saxophone trio with flexible scoring.Divertimento in B Flat has five movements: Allegro (Common time, tempo around 124 bpm, B-flat major throughout, about 2.25 minutes) Minuetto 1 (3/4 time, tempo around 124-136 bpm, ABA form, B-flat major to E-flat major to B-flat, about 3.75 minutes) Larghetto (3/4 time, tempo around 60 bpm, B flat major throughout, about 4 minutes) Minuetto 2 (3/4 time, tempo around 136 – 144 bpm, ABA form, B-flat major to F to B-flat major, about 3.5 minutes) Rondo (2/4 time, tempo around 144 – 152 bpm, ABACA form, B-flat major except when the C section wanders to F minor, about 3.25 minutes) The first movement features a lively main theme and a carefree, somewhat mellow alternate theme. Minuet 1 has a graceful main theme and relaxed, somewhat playful trio section. The movement three Larghetto is slow and dreamy. It even seems to yawn when the music several times indulges in long pauses. The second Minuet movement is livelier and a bit more colorful and playful than the first with a lively trio section. The concluding Rondo (Allegro) is energetic and colorful, with syncopations and interesting key shifts to add interest. This version of Divertimento in B-flat includes the following parts: Full trio score (C score), 20pp Part 1 – soprano saxophone, 8pp Part 2 – soprano saxophone 2, 8pp Part 2 – alto saxophone, 8pp Part 3 – tenor saxophone, 8pp Part 3 – baritone saxophone, 8pp The printed score and parts are 9″x 12″. The alternate parts included with this arrangement allow a great deal of flexibility in your ensemble. The parts can be played in any combination as long as part one, two, and three are covered. Probably Soprano-Alto-Tenor or Soprano-Alto-Baritone would be the most common grouping. However, even though it is not specified on the parts, there is no reason the piece could not be played by a Tenor/Tenor/Baritone ensemble. Also if a bass sax is available it could certainly cover the part 3 tenor sax part.
