This is a musically flowing compilation of several lighter selections authored by the legendary Antonin Dvorak and set for a trombone quartet. This challenging arrangement is the perfect addition to a college trombone recital or presentation piece. Lively, entertaining, engaging and full of beautiful counterpoint, Dvorak Front and Center is bound to be an audience pleaser from note one! Logically placed generous rehearsal markings are carefully set and a score is included to facilitate efficient preparation and rehearsal. There is an opportunity for an alto trombone double in the first part (not transposed). The first part does explore the very high register (triple D) but ossia notes are always included as an option. All parts are called upon for melodic playing as the lead line does move around. Thus, the 2nd and 3rd parts are called upon for a little high register playing too (not as high as the first though). Be advised- this is a challenging and very rewarding arrangement for advanced players. With the proper investment of time, Dvorak Front and Center will return rewards and accolades for your studious trombone quartet.

Trois Chansons (Three Songs) is a work by Maurice Ravel originally composed for a cappella choir written in 1915 in the spirit of nursery rhymes, with a Renaissance almost archaic sounding atmosphere.Ravel composed the Three Songs (Nicolette, Trois beaux oiseaux du Paradis and Ronde) in response to World War I while he was waiting to be drafted and he dedicated the songs to three people who might help him enlist in the military. The common theme in all the Songs is loss.Mr. Sauer has beautifully arranged the Trois Chansons for 4 Trombones. They are appropriate for advanced performers and total about 7-minutes in length.

The work was commissioned by and dedicated to Gerry Pagano and the St. Louis Low Brass Collective, with its first performance on January 20, 2015 at the Sheldon Concert Hall in St. Louis. The work is in a contemporary style and is about 11 minutes in length, appropriate for virtuoso performers. The work has many different effects, sounds and contrasts. Robert Schumann's Konzertstück (Concert Piece), Opus 86 originally for Four Horns is a work of incredible genius, in that it combines virtuosity, energy, expression, lyricism and harmonic invention. It is now available in a newly arranged edition for Four Trombones and Piano, by Gordon Cherry. Written during Schumann's most prolific period in 1849, it is a marvelous showpiece for Trombone quartet & Piano and unsurpassed for its sheer excitement. Each performer needs to be at the top of their game, but the rewards are well worth the effort. The 3-movement work of almost 20 minutes in length is a joy to perform and to listen to. Recommended for advanced performers.

Published by Gordon Cherry (A0.792553). Nimrod, the ninth variation from Elgar's masterpiece Op. 36, Enigma Variations (1898-99) is one of the most recognized works in the classical repertoire. There are so many adjectives to describe this piece of genius: stately, majestic, serious, solemn, moving, noble, languid, stoic, enduring and sublime. There are few works in the repertoire that bring forth such strong emotions as this work, which is often performed for funerals and for Memorial Day / Remembrance Day services. Mr. Sauer's arrangement is dedicated to the memory of the late Milt Stevens. This arrangement of 3-4 minutes in length is appropriate for an advanced performer on the top part and is of moderate difficultly for the rest.

Published by Gordon Cherry (A0.811160). Elgar composed Salut d'Amour, Op. 12 in 1888 while he was romantically involved with Caroline Alice Roberts (the work is dedicated to her). It's original title was Liebesgruss (Love's Greeting). It wasn't until the present title was used at the suggestion of his publisher that the work took off in popularity. It is one of Elgar's best-known works and has inspired numerous arrangements for widely varying instrumental combinations. Andrew Poirier's lovely arrangement for trombone quartet of advanced performers will make a beautiful addition to your recital.
