This version is arranged as a duet in a Jazz Swing style for one Trumpet and one Alto Saxophone. Mason was an admirer of G.F. Handel and the similarity of the melody to parts of the Messiah have been pointed out by many commentators.With a performance time of around two and a half minutes, this version of Joy to the World is perfect for seasonal celebrations and concert performances, both formal and informal. The jazz style is a fun, fresh and soulful take on this familiar tune.Joy to the World is arranged in a key and range best suited to the instruments. There is plenty of articulation detail to help deliver an authentic style. The melody is played two and a half times, with a short chiming intro and outro. This arrangement is suitable for players at an intermediate level.
