This solo arrangement is written in the key of F major and has a vocal range of one octave, from middle C to high C (C4 to C5). The lyrics are from a traditional hymn but I've written new music for it in a minor key to match the sombre mood. This recording is a perfect accompaniment track for either a beautiful solo during a church service or for a congregation to sing along with, led by a singer who has heard the recording and knows the song. The mp3 has no lead singer but harmonies and a few descants in the background, particularly in the end, as they are really part of the music and will help to make it a really moving, powerful song at any church service. This rare hymn is wonderful for Ash Wednesday or any time during the Lenten Season or even Good Friday, contemplating Christ's betrayal by Peter and all who give in to sin. Although it is very solemn and touches on many points about repentance and Christ's suffering, it ends on an uplifting note and leads us on to stronger faith in Him.This song has a vocal range of Bb3-C5 and there is also sheet music in several keys available by searching Stacey Plays Hymns on this site. Suitable for any combination of Clarinet, Trumpet, Soprano Saxophone, Tenor Saxophone, and Baritone Treble Clef. Could be used for school, church or community. It can be presented with 1, 2 or 3 instruments (or more!) and it is possible to play 1, 2 or all 3 verses. The First part plays the melody all the way through and the part is identical on all 3 verses except for the key. The Second part adds harmony to verses 2 and 3. The Third part adds an obligato part on the Introduction and Verse 3. (this could be a teacher/adult/advanced student part if the other part(s) are played by students) Parts for Flute (part 2) and Violin/Glockenspiel (part 1) have been added - just in case! Published by Sharon Wilson (A0.565924). This collection features ten easy Christmas Carols arranged for a soprano BOWED PSALTERY with PIANO accompaniment. The psaltery part was designed for a beginning psaltery player. The piano accompaniment is at the intermediate level. The psaltery plays the melody for the first verse of each song with an optional repeat included in case a longer song is desired. For each song in this book, piano accompaniment tracks (MP3 format) are available as a separate purchase. To assist those new to reading music notation, two solo parts are included: one is the standard music notation and includes the lyrics for sing along enjoyment. The second solo part is identical to the standard music but instead of lyrics, the note names are provided below each note (example A, B, C. . .). The range of a typical soprano psaltery is two octaves beginning with the G above middle C (G4). However, since some soprano psalteries have fewer than 25 strings, the range used in this book is less than 2 octaves. Also, the notes are written an octave lower on the staff to avoid the ledger line notes that would be required to notate the upper notes. Thus, the notated range in this book is from A3 (A below middle C) to D5 (the second D above middle C).For each song, there is a combined score (grand staff, 3-stave) with both parts (PSALTERY and PIANO) on each page, plus 2 options for the 1-staff solo part (one with lyrics, one with alphabetic note names). Each song is also available separately with accompanying preview pages and audio samples. The medley features five classic hits, the James Bond Theme, For Your Eyes Only, Goldfinger, Live and Let Die, and No Body Does It Better. Although this arrangement is written for intermediate full orchestra, it has been scored in such a way that it will also sound as effective with strings only. Careful considerations have been given to tonality and rhythmical issues as related to the strings. Bowings have also been included to facilitate playability. For more additional flexibility, solo parts have been cued throughout. With solid scoring, adequate ranges and classic selections, this James Bond Medley is a sure winner! (9:23).
