Because of this it's been on my mind for a long time to write a funeral song, but it was somehow just never the right time until just a few weeks ago when this one came pouring out in 5 minutes flat [which does not happen often, I can assure you!]. The culmination of years of playing for funerals, a bachelor degree in theology and sacred music, and many more years of writing and playing music through good times and also times full of grief, Lord of All Our Days is my very best and heartfelt attempt to serve those who are also dealing with the absolute heartache of loss, be it the acute, fresh grieving of just losing someone or the flashbacks that come time and time again, years and even decades later.This song carefully and tenderly handles the true earth-shaking grief that it is to lose someone you love, while holding out a strong hope of the life to come for those who trust God. I had a very difficult time recording it without being moved to tears over and over, and I pray it will reach many in need of comfort, being of service to anyone who is looking for a Christian, Biblical funeral hymn for a memorial service or a celebration of life service. This is the exact guitar version I used to record the Outdoor Acoustic Version of Lord of All Our Days, as heard on all streaming platforms. It is intended for use as a burial song, sung softly and reverently accompanied by a quiet guitar at the internment portion of a funeral service if music is desired at the graveside. I recommend playing it on capo 3 to match the original or a few higher to match your voice. You may also prefer to get the other version in C major and save using a capo. This version is just easier for a slightly more beginner guitarist. One other recommendation is to play it even lower so people can sing very quietly, i.e. capo 1 or even no capo at all, depending on the voice of the person leading the song.Also available, by searching Stacey Plays Hymns and the song title on this site, are the following versions:Piano Vocal in Bb Minor to match the original recording [vocal range: Bb3-Bb4]Piano Vocal in C Major for easier playing and a better congregational vocal rangeLead Sheet for piano or guitar in C Major - best key for singing without a capoA backup music mp3 track for soloists to perform with in a service, including the full backup choral arrangement.For other formats including large print, a different key to match a soloist's preferred range, or piano solo for a matching prelude or postlude, please write me at staceyplayshymns@gmail.com and I'll be glad to make them especially for you. It was introduced by Judy Holliday and Sydney Chaplin in the musical Bells Are Ringing in 1956. Judy Holliday and Dean Martin sang the song in the 1960 film of Bells Are Ringing. Martin then recorded it for his 1960 album, This Time I'm Swingin'. Tony Bennett recorded the song in 1956 and continued performing it until his retirement, at Radio City Music Hall, in 2021 at the age of 95.

Silver Bells is a Christmas song composed by Jay Livingston and Ray Evans. It debuted in the motion picture The Lemon Drop Kid (1951), where it was started by William Frawley, then sung in the generally known version immediately thereafter by Bob Hope and Marilyn Maxwell. Silver Bells started out as Tinkle Bells. Songwriter Ray Evans said: We never thought that tinkle had a double meaning until Jay went home and his first wife said, 'Are you out of your mind? Do you know what the word tinkle is?'This song's inspiration is the source of conflicting reports. Several periodicals and interviews cite writer Jay Livingston stating that the song's inspiration came from the bells used by sidewalk Santa Clauses and Salvation Army solicitors on New York City street corners. Published by SheetMusicHub (A0.662483). This is a lead sheet style (melody/chords/form) notation of Salute d'Amour (Liebesgruß) Op. 12 by Edward Elgar. From Wikipedia: Elgar finished the piece in July 1888, when he was romantically involved with Caroline Alice Roberts, and he called it Liebesgruss ('Love's Greeting') because of Miss Roberts' fluency in German. On their engagement she had already presented him with a poem The Wind at Dawn which he set to music and, when he returned home to London on 22 September from a holiday at the house of his friend Dr. Charles Buck in Settle, he gave her Salut d'Amour as an engagement present. The dedication was in French: à Carice. Carice was a combination of his wife's names Caroline Alice, and was the name to be given to their daughter born two years later. It was published a year later by Schott & Co., a German publisher, with offices in Mainz, London, Paris and Brussels. The first published editions were for violin and piano, piano solo, cello and piano, and for small orchestra. Few copies were sold until Schott changed the title to Salut d'Amour with Liebesgruss as a sub-title, and the composer's name as 'Ed. Elgar'. The French title, Elgar realised, would help the work to be sold not only in France but in other European countries. The first public performance was of the orchestral version, at a Crystal Palace concert on 11 November 1889, conducted by August Manns. The first recording of that version was made in 1915 for The Gramophone Company with an orchestra conducted by the composer. As a violin-and-piano piece Salut d'Amour had been recorded for The Gramophone & Typewriter Ltd (predecessor to The Gramophone Company) as early as 1901 by Jacques Jacobs, leader/director of the Trocadero Restaurant orchestra. Always On My Mind did not see completion until late 1971. Songwriter-guitarist Wayne Carson had about two verses done, with the working title You Were Always On My Mind. He had been occupied in Memphis on a project that required him to stay ten days longer, and he phoned his wife in Springfield, Missouri, to apologize for the delay. She was angry, and he replied: Well, I know I’ve been gone a lot, but I’ve been thinking about you all the time. His words struck him as potential song material, and he quickly ended the call so he could capture the idea on paper.
