IF (David Gates/Bread) Bb CLARINET and GUITAR DUETFor Classical or Acoustic Guitar - sometimes it's erroneously listed here as Electric Guitar.Derek Hasted writes This simple but charming melody has a guitar accompaniment that uses a clever mixture of stopped and open strings to create a campanella effect. Many of the arrangements that are out there don’t have same notes as the original, and therefore some of the cleverness and simplicity of the original gets lost.This arrangement uses the same shapes as the original, and there’s guitar and tablature as well guitar notation only so that you can easily see that almost all the measures in the music have the same right hand fingering, despite the mix of open and stopped strings making the score look much more complex than it actually is!The original key makes for undue complexity in the clarinet part, so I have arranged the piece to be played by the guitar with a Capo on fret one, so that all the clever shapes can be retained, and the piece moved from 5 sharps in the Clarinet to no sharps. In both the score and the tablature the fingering and positions are marked relative to the Capo, so fret 5 means 5 frets up from the Capo (actually fret 6 on the guitar).I’ve produced two clarinet parts - one sits almost entirely in the chalumeau register, and one sits almost entirely in the clarion register. The span of the piece means there always has to be places where the clarinettist is crossing the break but these are few and far between, making the piece accessible to players from early intermediate upwards.I hope you enjoy playing this piece!

OPEN ALL HOURS (TV theme) - Bb CLARINET and GUITAR DUETFor Classical or Acoustic Guitar - sometimes it's erroneously listed here as Electric Guitar.Derek Hasted writes This rather poignant little piece introduced the original TV series of Open All Hours starring Ronnie Barker and David Jason - a program which has since re-appeared to tell the same tale a generation further on.Set here for early intermediate Clarinet and Guitar Duet, this is an easy-to-play piece which makes for a relaxing interlude in a School or Adult concert and the simple yet haunting melody connects instantly with an audience.There are some fingerings on the guitar part that are worth noting as the use of guide fingers here can make the chord transitions very much easier. Note that the guitar requires a Capo fitted to fret 1 so that both clarinet and guitar are in comfortable keys. This places the music a semitone above the original but makes it much easier to play!I hope you enjoy playing this piece!

It’s rather fun too!The lovely chord sequences and the need for controlled articulation make this a delightful piece for any intermediate duo.I have added a few dynamics (but feel free to change them if you wish), and some suggested fingerings for the guitar part.
