It’s rather fun too!The lovely chord sequences and the need for controlled articulation make this a delightful piece for any intermediate duo.I have added a few dynamics (but feel free to change them if you wish), and some suggested fingerings for the guitar part. Note that the guitar requires a Capo fitted to fret 1 so that both clarinet and guitar are in comfortable keys. This places the music a semitone above the original but makes it much easier to play!I hope you enjoy playing this piece!

I decided to dedicate some of my compositions to this issue. This is the third composition with that title and only includes Portuguese imaginary beings: 1 - OLHAPIM - Very small entity, a sort of ghost or goblin. It has four eyes, two forward and two backward, to see all around; 2 - JANA - Spirit who makes clothes for the night if you let cake for him. 3 - TRASGO - Imaginary being of small stature, which uses red cap and possesses supernatural powers. This work was requested to be premiered by Wesley Ferreira. Was composed between January and April 2012.

The harmonies and melody continue to sway in their relations in a curious and yet logical progression. Many of the arrangements that are out there don’t have same notes as the original, and therefore some of the cleverness and simplicity of the original gets lost.This arrangement uses the same shapes as the original, and there’s guitar and tablature as well guitar notation only so that you can easily see that almost all the measures in the music have the same right hand fingering, despite the mix of open and stopped strings making the score look much more complex than it actually is!The original key makes for undue complexity in the clarinet part, so I have arranged the piece to be played by the guitar with a Capo on fret one, so that all the clever shapes can be retained, and the piece moved from 5 sharps in the Clarinet to no sharps. In both the score and the tablature the fingering and positions are marked relative to the Capo, so fret 5 means 5 frets up from the Capo (actually fret 6 on the guitar).I’ve produced two clarinet parts - one sits almost entirely in the chalumeau register, and one sits almost entirely in the clarion register. The span of the piece means there always has to be places where the clarinettist is crossing the break but these are few and far between, making the piece accessible to players from early intermediate upwards.I hope you enjoy playing this piece!

Nur wer die Sehnsucht kennt (known in English as Only the lonely heart or Only the lonely know) - the original song, by Tchaikovsky, was a setting of the poem by Goethe (one of the songs of Mignon in his novel Wilhelm Meisters Lehrjahre). It is one of Tchaikovsky's most yearning melodies. I have transcribed the piano part into a relatively simple guitar version. The Baião melodies are usually in the mixolydian and lydian b7 modes. It's written in 4/4 but you can find also the use of binary meters, 2/4 or 2/2.
