All are very worthy additions to the Trombone Ensemble repertoire. This work for 8-part Trombone ensemble is in two movements and about 7 1/2 minutes in length. This music is appropriate for advanced performers. The top two voices have parts supplied in both alto and tenor clef.

Capriccio in B-flat, BWV 992 is an early keyboard work, first performed at age 19 when his brother Johann Jacob travelled to become an oboist in the army of Charles XII of Sweden. The 12-minute work is appropriate for advanced performers. Dr. Marcellus has dedicated his arrangement to the memory of the late Steve Witser, his former student and colleague who was Principal Trombonist with the Los Angeles Philharmonic. In his arrangement Marcellus has split the music into a two 3-part Trombone choirs each with two tenor Trombones and a bass Trombone. The work is separated into six sections titled: 1. Arioso: Adagio - His friends try to persuade him not to undertake the journey 2. Andante - His friends tell him of the various misfortunes that may befall him abroad 3. The Ricercare a 3 is a three-voice Fugue, a close cousin to the six-voice Ricercare from the same collection.Mr. Sauer has brilliantly scored Bach’s three-voice Fugue for 6-part Trombone Ensemble. The texture of which is quite transparent until the ending, which goes out in a blaze of glory.The work is about six minutes in length and is suitable for advanced performers.

Ralph Sauer has taken the final two sections of Bach's great organ composition Toccata, Adagio and Fugue in C major, BWV 564, and beautifully arranged them for 8-part Trombone Ensemble. It is about 9-minutes in length and appropriate for advanced performers.The Adagio is in two sections. The first is almost cheerful in its minor key, but the 2nd part Grave is very dark and brooding. It was used during a satanic ritual scene in the 1934 Karloff/Lugosi film The Black Cat.The Fugue is in 4-voices in 6/8 and bounces along nicely till its dramatic ending.
