This lively and enchanting work -- lovingly crafted by an arranger who once played Friedrich von Trapp in a theatrical production -- can stand alone or can be combined with Prof. Hays' other arrangements to create a SOUND OF MUSIC SUITE. All members of the ensemble are featured in this arrangement which includes both the introductory and wedding versions of the endearing tune.

A simple setting of this pretty carol for flute quintet (2 C flutes, 2 Alto flutes and a Bass flute). Each verse the pitch goes up by a tone until the final verse which returns to the original key. Everybody except the bass flute has a go at the melody and each verse is harmonised in a different syle.

Verse 1 is a solo for Flute 1, Verse 2 is a duet for Flute 1 and Alto Flute 2. Verse 3 adds the Alto flute 1 and Bass, Verse 4 is the first verse with all instruments playing. Verse 5 is a trio for Altos 1 & 2 and Bass. Verse 6 uses all instruments for the finale.

This is a very simple arrangement and should be playable by any standard of ensemble.
