This arrangement of the Allegro movement from Henry Purcell's Sonata for Trumpet would be a fabulous addition to any music library and could be performed for concerts, recitals and church services. It is suitable for high school and college students but professional musicians would also enjoy playing this selection. This selection is one of the arrangements from The Regis Bookshar Trumpet Ensemble's extensive music library, many of which are being made available for the first time. They have performed the Trumpet Quintet version of this composition quite often for numerous weddings and other special occasions. The original composition was written in D Major but Regis Bookshar has transposed it to Bb Major, making it a little easier for many modern musicians. Included are a score and a complete set of parts (13 pages). The 17th century composer, Henry Purcell, is generally considered to be one of the greatest English composers of his generation. His Sonata for Trumpet and Strings in D Major, composed in 1694, was probably written for the London Theatre, where a fine tradition of trumpet playing had developed. Purcell almost certainly had in mind either John Shore or his brother, William, the most renowned trumpet players in England at the time. The trumpets of the time were normally tuned in D and there were no valves on the Baroque trumpets, so they were limited in the number of notes that they could play. The term Sonata here probably means no more than a piece of incidental music and looks forward to the style that would become the solo concerto where soloist and strings are pitted against each other but also looks back to an older type of instrumental music which emphasized equality between members of the ensemble. The music is in three movements and looks forward to the fast-slow-fast plan popularized by Vivaldi's concertos. Regis Bookshar thought that it would be wonderful if other instrumentalists, besides trumpet players, could also have the opportunity to play the Allegro movement from Purcell's Sonata for Trumpet, so he has created other arrangements of this selection. This particular arrangement is for a Flute Octet, consisting of 8 Flutes, but there are Quintets, Sextets, Septets and Octets readily available for a wide variety of instrumental ensembles. Please take the time to look for other versions of this piece. You may find something else that may suit your needs. I would also encourage you to search for other arrangements by Regis Bookshar as well, as there are numerous arrangements in a wide variety of styles also available for purchase. This charity is for LGBTQ+. ( about the song meaning)Wrabel, the composer, stated the song is about the LGBTQ+ community and all the hardships they face.The song is directed and to encourage and give hope to a trans person who is being treated poorly and ostracized , and to let that perosn struggling know that there is absolutely Nothing wrong with you and there's soemthing wrong with the village.Too many of the trans/LGBTQ+ comminity are struggling , especially in todays political climate. All around the world LGBTQ+ persons are being bullied, discriminated against , attacked, thrown in jail , and even killed with liitle to no laws to protect people.in my own personal life, as a victim of a horrible hate crime where the person involved attmepted to beat me and kill me , unfortuanelty i found out very qucikly how laws even in the USA do not protect me , how many cops ignored me and/or attmepted to make the attack my fault , and how laywers did not want to help and judges either ,and beacsue of the laws i was not protected as a minority and the crime wasn't a hate crime even though the criminals admitted this as the reason of the attack.I was told that this was not a hate crime , unless the criminals made me a victim of S.A., used a car/vehicle , or a gun, or actually ended my life. I also wanted to add , this brutal attack ( recorded on video by the criminals ) which caused such serious bodily harm, had me in the hospital for surgeries, and required months of long and painful rehab and therapy.As a country, as a society, as a planet , we all need to do better, and have to have more protections for such a discriminated group of persons.I did want to add , all the issues happening around the world, and even here in the USA, such as the awful and fascist discrimitory laws in Florida and other states it's no wonder the statistics of LGBTQ+ that contemplate ending their person or even attempting the act .I ask respectfully that every one please go to law makers and demand better laws and treatments of people no matter what community there are of. All people deserve respect, proper medcial care, and to have the same rights as every other human being. We all can and must be the change you wish to see in the world. Sing Joyfully - William Byrd - Flute Sextet - Advanced/Intermediate - .William Byrd was the greatest British composer of the late Renaissance, and just maybe, the greatest Bristish composer ever. He wrote a huge body of choral music, some of it profound and timeless. He also composed brilliant, virtuoso pieces and his motet-like anthem, Sing Joyfully, a polyphonic setting of Psalm 81, written in 1590, is perhaps his best-known one, It is enchanting to listen to and is fun to sing. Regis Bookshar thought that instrumental performers should have the same opportunity that singers have experienced for years so he has now transcribed, edited and arranged this wonderful selection for a Flute Sextet.Since no tempo is indicated and there are no written dynamic or phrase markings in William Byrd's original score, Regis Bookshar has taken the liberty to add them in order to provide direction and life to the piece. This arrangement is suitable for high school and college students and is perfect for concerts and recitals and perhaps even church services, but could be performed for any occasion. Included are a score and a complete set of parts (27 pages).This selection is readily available for a wide variety of instrumental ensembles.
