Published by Grant Horsley (A0.1138249). Aria is scored for 4 C Flutes, Alto and Bass Flute. This version is in F major- also a D major version is available. It is a very restful melodic piece based on a single motif heard in bar 1. Written in the key of F major the piece is very hymn -like in design- with long notes and chords but has some unusual harmonies. The searing theme is stated then repeated with variation in texture. The theme is then developed using the rhythmic motif in the beginning climaxing in G major briefly before calmly returning to F major to repeat again. On this repeat more variation and articulation takes place before a restful conclusion. I've tried to keep all parts interesting. The full score is 11 pages and parts are 3 pages each- it is roughly 5 mins 30 in length. I have set it to intermediate level but an early intermediate should be ok with some of the parts. The whole score is on the youtube link for you to assess suitability. Price is for the full score and all parts. Coronation March, TH 50, CW 47 by Peter Ilyich Tchaikovsky. Flute Octet - Advanced/Intermediate - . This marvelous arrangement of Peter Tchaikovsky's Coronation March, sometimes called Festival March or Festival Coronation March, would be a fabulous addition to any music library and could be performed for concerts, recitals and other festive occasions. This arrangement keeps all of the intensity and excitement of the original composition and is suitable for high school and college students. Professional musicians would also enjoy playing this selection. Included are a score and a complete set of parts (27 pages). This selection is one of the many arrangements from The Regis Bookshar Trumpet Ensemble's extensive music library which are being made available to the public for the first time. The Coronation March was ordered by the city of Moscow for the coronation of Tsar Alexander III in 1883. It was written during March of 1883 and was performed for the first time on June 4, 1883 in Sokolniky Park in Moscow, conducted by Sergei Taneyev. The music then included excerpts of the anthem, God Save the Tsar. The American premiere was on May 5, 1891, for the opening concert of Carnegie Hall in New York City, conducted by Tchaikovsky himself. During the Soviet Era, Russian performances and recordings of the music were revised to omit the excerpts from the Czarist national anthem, replacing it with thematic material used earlier in the march, due to an official Soviet ban on the anthem. Starting with Dmitri Medvedev's inauguration in 2008, an abbreviated version of this piece is played during the Russian presidential inauguration accompanying the entrance of the incoming president, and ends well before the playing in this piece of the Tsarist anthem God Save the Tsar. Unlike Tchaikovsky's other major compositions, the Coronation March does not have an opus number. It has been given alternative catalogue designations TH 50 and CW 47. Tchaikovsky's Coronation March was originally scored for a full orchestra and written in the key of D Major. Regis Bookshar has now created an abbreviated version, written in Db Major, and has arranged it for a Flute Octet. In addition to this arrangement of Tchaikovsky's Coronation March for a Flute Octet, other arrangements of this festive composition for various instrumental ensembles are also available. Please feel free to search for other arrangements by Regis Bookshar as there are many more arrangements in a variety of styles, also available for purchase. You may find something else which might interest you as well, and please continue to check periodically because new arrangements are being added as often as possible. I'm certain that this wonderful arrangement of Tchaikovsky's Coronation March will continue to entertain both audiences and performers alike for years to come.

(Other flute choir versions are also available) It is a descriptive exciting piece, and the intention was to make it a dramatic and mysterious in style- with a film -like storyline flowing through it. It has a calm intro going into a heavily syncopated driving 4 as the main theme punctuated by a heavy accented ostinato figure to add tension. The middle section is calmer and more relaxed where elements of the 1st theme appear in fragmented form. The intro returns once again before returning to the main theme which has slight modifications-extra accents etc, and the piece ends with the recurring stabs heard earlier before flourishing out.The ranges of the flutes are between one and a half octaves and 2 octaves depending on the part. Set at intermediate level but the full score is on the youtube link for you to assess suitability.It runs at4 Mins 35 in length. Ideal as a showpiece, contest/festival, concert etc or an additional piece for the repertoire.Price is for the full score and all parts.

Cascades is a three-movement composition for flute choir that represents both the waterfall definition of the word and the mountain range in the Pacific Northwest. The first movement represents Multnomah Falls, the tallest waterfall in Oregon. It drops 635 feet in two tiers. The music has cascading musical figures as well as sense of power and beauty. Mt. Hood is the inspiration for second movement. Standing at 11,249 feet above sea level, this majestic mountain is dramatically visible from the valley floor and is snow covered most of the year. The music of this movement depicts the rising from the valley floor with its low to high orchestration. The almost symmetrical shape is represented by descending lines after the two climaxes.The third movement is a reminder of the relatively youngness of the Cascade mountain range. In 1980, Mt. St. Helens erupted, causing catastrophic damage to the surrounding area and loss of lives. What remains of this former symmetrical mountain is a large crater as a reminder of the volatile nature of the Cascade Range. The music of this movement is filled with tension, from the seismic tremors of the first part to the eruption itself in the second part. A final cascade, this time depicting lava flow rather than a waterfall, brings both the movement and the composition to a close.

They are plentiful in Somerset in the West Country of England Though similar in appearance to a gargoyle, a hunky punk is purely decorative and has no other functional purpose whatsoever!! Unlike the gargoyle, which serves to drain water off the roof through its mouth. The theory behind hunky punks and grotesques in general, was that churches were designed to reflect the balance between good and evil, reminding worshippers of the narrow path leading through life. As a result, for every saint or animal that was intended to signify purity and ‘goodness’, there was also an ugly creature to signify evil and ‘badness’.Scored for six C Flutes, this piece is in concert D minor and begins with a medieval type of fanfare which occurs throughout. What follows is a haunting theme with lots of flattened 5ths and several discords to represent the uncomfortable nature of this statue. The staccato and accent direction in most of the piece gives the impression of walking on eggshells not knowing what lies around the corner! Then a brief legato section of the fanfare appears to provide a calmer atmosphere before eventually returning to the main theme and big ending. This tree lines the streets of Buenos Aires which is considered by many to be the birthplace of the Argentinian Tango.This original Tango has two main sections- a passionate and animated section to begin with which clearly states the rhythms associated with the Tango, followed by a contrasting more wistful romantic middle section, which has the Cuban habanera elements present, from which a Tango is derived. Then the piece returns to the first section taking it to a conclusionJacaranda is scored for 6 C flutes and is in the key of D minor (concert) with the middle section in D major. The range is around two octaves for all players, and I have tried to keep all parts interesting with shared moments of melodic and rhythmic interest. It also has wide dynamic contrasts and heavy accents, along with legato and staccato phrasing, all of which are effectively used in this genre.It is set to Intermediate level- it is 4 mins 40 in length and would make a lovely addition to any programme.The youtube link has the full score so you can assess suitability. Published by Grant Horsley (A0.1226298). Varadero is a modern Cha-Cha. The name is a city in Cuba- the country the Cha- Cha originated.Varadero is in concert G minor and is scored for Six C Flutes. It is essentially in ternary form, however there are two different sections in the middle before returning to the opening and coda. There is plenty of interest in all parts- the range is Low C to the the highest note being top G so not too high, and the rhythmic off-beats play the largest part in this style. Hence it has been placed at Intermediate but the full score is on the youtube link for you to assess suitability. It is 3 mins 20 in length.I wanted to do something a little different for flute choirs so it could be useful in a variety of contexts- concert, contests, recital, productions, shows encore piece etc.Price is for the full score and all parts.There is another flute choir version available which has 4 C flutes, Alto and Bass, also there is a Clarinet choir version.

Scored for 4 C Flutes, Alto and Bass Flute, Weekend in Paris is a bright jazz waltz intended to convey the excitement and anticipation of a trip to Paris.The music is to bring to mind pleasure in sightseeing, wandering around cafe's, seeing children at play, people dancing and laughing and families gathering in a happy relaxed atmosphere in the glorious sunshine. The piece is in concert F major establishing the bright swingy rhythm, this then flows into the second section which is more lyrical and legato and is in E flat major. A short bridge section follows keeping the motif's heard in the first section but exploring the lower registers and remains largely legato. The first two sections are then heard again before a modulation takes place to give the piece a final lift before the end. The piece concludes quietly with a snippet of the opening motif. I have set it to intermediate level but the whole score is on the youtube link for you to assess suitability. The music would be a great addition to any repertoire as a happy piece, programmatic with a world/travelling theme in mind. Full score 16 pages-parts 4 pages. 4 mins 30 in length.
