Alan Silvestri is one of my favorite movie composers. He composes mainly for the film industry, and wrote fantastic scores for movies like Forrest Gump, Back to the Future, and Night at the Museum, to name a few.

This piece comes from the movie, Cast Away. The movie didn't have much music in it, which was intended to create a feeling of isolation. Needless to say, when music was played during a scene, it made a big impact. Silvestri won a Grammy Award for his music score in this movie.

This arrangement of the theme song is written for 2 altos, 3 basses, contra-alto in G, and contrabass flutes. The Bass 3 part is optional if you have a contra-alto in G. The optional cello part is to provide extra support to the contrabass, if needed.

This piece is very soothing and meditative. I hope your choir and your audience will enjoy it.

Polyphonic arrangement of the famous Austrian Christmas Carol and lullaby. The melody is a folk tune (authorship unknown) from the State of Salzburg. The tune appeared for the first time in 1865 in a folksong collection of Maria Vinzenz Süß (1802-1868), founder of the Salzburg Museum, it has changed slightly over the years but remains attributed to G. Flute Choir/Ensemble - Piccolo, 4 flutes (flute 4 replacing alto flute 1), 3 alto flutes, bass flute (replacing alto flute 3), optional contr'alto flute, optional contra-bass flute. This is a complete transcription of Grieg's famour Holberg Suite. The layout is designed to be as flexible as possible. It is possible to perform this work with a lineup of piccolo, 4 flutes and two alto flutes, for groups who do not have access to the larger instruments. This piece is in 5 movements: Praelude, Sarabande, Gavotte and Musette, Air and Rigaudon. The praelude requires long sections of fast tonguing from all players, and flute one in general needs a player of about grade 8 standard, but the lower parts are much more accessible.
