This piano solo is excellent for learning to play four sixteenth notes in the right hand against triplet eighth notes in the left hand, a challenge for every piano student. This would be a very appealing student recital piece due to the descriptive nature of the music. The questioning/ascending melody, depicted in the title Is It Going to Rain?, is followed by trills in the left hand to portray claps of thunder. This is followed by a repetitive pattern of sixteenth note versus eighth note broken chords to portray heavy rainfall, which then comes to an end as suddenly as it began.

Published by Blaze Scheuerman (A0.1047338). The Doomsday Clock is a piece that primarily shows anxiety and being overwhelmed. I composed this piece my senior year of high school. At the time I could feel the impending deadline of college piano auditions approaching, and this coupled with a hand injury caused me to be very stressed out and feel that I was unable to put in the time needed to practice and prepare. I chose the name “Doomsday Clock†as I felt that the event that was slowly creeping closer was actually going to be the destruction of my dreams. The intro starts up bleak as the main character feels lost and afraid. The baseline hints at something to come that keeps inching closer and closer. Then at measure 8 it hits him, the thing to come is inevitable and can’t be stopped. He tries to reason with it, but it does not budge. This forces him to go into a mad scuffle in order to keep up and be ahead, as seen in measure 13. What then proceeds is a series of highs and lows, such as in measure 24 where the main character is terrified of what is to come and in measure 33 where he begins to believe he can do it. The piece then modulates to C major, where the main character feels that he is ahead and going to be successful. But every time he states a confident line, it seems to deteriorate or break down. Eventually he leads back into the mad scuffle and reaches his lowest point in measure 74. Here he feels lost and is about to give up when something encourages him to keep on going. It manifests a childlike voice reminding him of why he started this journey in the first place, and it convinces him to not give up and instead keep on going (seen in the Eb major section in the style of the intro). He eventually reaches the end and makes it, almost collapsing at the finish.

Sunday Morning Boogie Advance level This is the second Boogie song I wrote. I studied Classical music when I was in College. I never had a chance to listen to Jazz, Blues and Boogie music. I had no idea of how the Boogie song works. However, when I moved to the States, I had more chances to experience these types of music. I like the swing rhythm. It makes people want to dance. It makes people want to swing their body with the music. On one Sunday morning, I had the melody of this song in my head. Therefore, I decided to write down what I heard. When playing this song, a special skill is needed. Please do not use the skill of turning fingers. The turning fingers over and under is often used when playing scales. Like turning 1 under 3 or turning 3 over 1, etc. The turning finger skill is going to slow down the flow of this song. What you can do is to move the whole hand to the next position instead. Also this skill will help you when playing the ornament notes (appoggiatura notes) smoothly. This PDF is designed to for two sided printing. It is going to look like a sheet music book. The very last note says it all...In October 2016, my younger sister Marilou, who is also Sr. Cecille Tajanlangit, OSC, Mother Abbess of the St. Clare Monastery in Biliran, Leyte, Philippines, died of a chronic illness that had no known cure and that had caused her so much pain and suffering through so many years.A few months before, and going into the time that she died, she had been listening to all my works, 24/7, by her bedside. She told me over an overseas call that she was my number one fan and joked that she wanted to be the president of a fan club she was going to start up for me.But then not long afterward, she passed away-more than 13,000 kilometres away from me.I just composed this very sad piano piece to commemorate her life, which she had dedicated to Christ in His sufferings too. I'm sure she will hear this too from wherever she is. I did ask her, when she was still alive, to let God hear all my works when she gets to heaven. She said she would. Maybe that's where my fan club will be set up, among the angels!Those who were by her death bed recount that she twitched slightly on her last breath, and at the next instant a smile of deliverance showed up on her face!Please play the piece and try to decipher the hidden meanings behind each section. Towards the end of the piece, she falls into Jesus' lap and ... on the very last note, everything that she was hoping for came true. NO MORE PAIN!P.S. Musicians who hear this will recognize it as the Tierce de Picardie.

I wrote this piece for Halloween this since I wanted to try writing something that is a little bit spooky and eerie. Initially, I used one of my old ideas from a while ago to be used as the main motif/idea for the piece but it wasn’t really what I was going for. Instead of just creating something entirely different, I decided to incorporate this old idea with a motif that I would make now for the piece.I first created the chord progression that is heard at the beginning and then I created the melody that is heard later. This is then when the old motif comes in. It is very different from the new idea and so it creates a good contrast and keeps the piece interesting. It was good playing around with bring the 2 different motifs in and out and the combining them later in the piece to create a new motif. I took some inspiration from ‘Every 27 years’ or the ‘IT Theme’ with the light hearted melody and the darker overtones. One of my favourite things to do in compositions is begin really simple but then build up the tension and excitement as I have done in this piece.

My arrangement is a tribute to the old Fat's Waller recording. It's not copied from that rendition at all but I have arranged it as a stride piano piece and hope it exudes some of the joy that Mr Waller brought to it.I take it through three iterations in C, Db and D major, going up a semi-tone each time - so plenty of practice in trickier keys. I don't include dynamics in my notation nor fingering and pedalling as I prefer to leave these to the discretion of the individual pianist. You will never get two piano teachers to agree on these things. I like to give the reader the notes as simply as possible and leave the interpretation up to them. Similarly with voicings - some notes will be held longer instinctively by the pianist than others and do not need to be placed in separate voicings to make them difficult to read.The stride piano left hand often contains 10ths which can be too large a span for some pianists. The solution is to roll them or to just play them as a single bass note on the root of the chord or as an octave.This is a wonderfully joyous piece and I hope you get as much pleasure from learning and playing it as I did arranging it.

Specifically, Rachmaninoffâ??s piece starting with the D-flat of beat one in measure 9 going backwards to measure 8 to the C, B-flat, A-flat and B-flat of the fourth beat is replicated in Fraserâ??s piece in the pickup to beat three through beat four of measure 10, however with rhythmic changes.
