This is an epic piano solo arrangement of Bethel's Raise A Hallelujah. It's a perfect piece for the intermediate/advanced pianist to use in preludes and offertories or for fun. It's a long arrangement, as it does follow the mold of the sung recordings, but there are built in options to cut it short– or keep it going– if desired. A shorter version is contained on the first 3 pages and is more intermediate, whereas the full version becomes more advanced as it progresses, especially in the EPIC final choruses. Play 1 or 2 verses with choruses, or the entire arrangement. 2 key options available: Db & C. (It was originally arranged in Db, then transposed to C. Some chord voicings and fingerings might need to be adjusted in Db but some pianists– like myself– actually prefer the original 5 flat version).

Published by Blaze Scheuerman (A0.1047338). The Doomsday Clock is a piece that primarily shows anxiety and being overwhelmed. I composed this piece my senior year of high school. At the time I could feel the impending deadline of college piano auditions approaching, and this coupled with a hand injury caused me to be very stressed out and feel that I was unable to put in the time needed to practice and prepare. I chose the name “Doomsday Clock†as I felt that the event that was slowly creeping closer was actually going to be the destruction of my dreams. The intro starts up bleak as the main character feels lost and afraid. The baseline hints at something to come that keeps inching closer and closer. Then at measure 8 it hits him, the thing to come is inevitable and can’t be stopped. He tries to reason with it, but it does not budge. This forces him to go into a mad scuffle in order to keep up and be ahead, as seen in measure 13. What then proceeds is a series of highs and lows, such as in measure 24 where the main character is terrified of what is to come and in measure 33 where he begins to believe he can do it. The piece then modulates to C major, where the main character feels that he is ahead and going to be successful. But every time he states a confident line, it seems to deteriorate or break down. Eventually he leads back into the mad scuffle and reaches his lowest point in measure 74. Here he feels lost and is about to give up when something encourages him to keep on going. It manifests a childlike voice reminding him of why he started this journey in the first place, and it convinces him to not give up and instead keep on going (seen in the Eb major section in the style of the intro). He eventually reaches the end and makes it, almost collapsing at the finish.

Silent Night (Lyrics by Joseph Mohr and Music by Franz Xaver Gruber) Our family recently relocated south and I was sitting at the piano feeling homesick and missing snow! I love our new place, but it seems really strange to see Christmas decorations going up in December and green everywhere!! I thought I would get in the mood for holiday celebrations by sitting down and playing old Christmas favourites. Silent Night is one of those beautiful carols where the peace and spirit of the season just settle in your heart. As I sat and played, the arrangement formed itself in my mind and in my fingers. I worked backwards on this arrangement--normally I sit down with an outline of the music in mind and work from there. This time, I played the arrangement (luckily I was recording!) and then transcribed my own arrangement. It was a new and interesting way to work and fun to dive into my mind and finger wanderings! This arrangement explores some different harmonies in the intro and the outro. The verse and chorus are repeated four times in this arrangement. The first time sticks pretty close to the original, with some suspensions and interesting rhythms thrown in to keep it interesting. The second repetition introduces several countermelodies and different right hand harmonies. The third repetition is a sweet melody in the treble register of the piano. The fourth repetition is an improvisation based on the harmonic structure of the verse and chorus. I hope you enjoy this arrangement. I wrote this piece for Halloween this since I wanted to try writing something that is a little bit spooky and eerie. Initially, I used one of my old ideas from a while ago to be used as the main motif/idea for the piece but it wasn’t really what I was going for. Instead of just creating something entirely different, I decided to incorporate this old idea with a motif that I would make now for the piece.I first created the chord progression that is heard at the beginning and then I created the melody that is heard later. This is then when the old motif comes in. It is very different from the new idea and so it creates a good contrast and keeps the piece interesting. It was good playing around with bring the 2 different motifs in and out and the combining them later in the piece to create a new motif. I took some inspiration from ‘Every 27 years’ or the ‘IT Theme’ with the light hearted melody and the darker overtones. One of my favourite things to do in compositions is begin really simple but then build up the tension and excitement as I have done in this piece.
