This piece originally began with the idea of the repeated chords in the right hand which I came up with near the end of 2018. I stumbled across this chord progression and developed it into the first eight bars of the composition. I liked the sound of the main section so I decided to use a Rondo form which is structured as ABACA with section A as the repeated chords in the right hand.It was a lot of fun to write this piece and I learnt many new things whilst writing, especially creating a good structure and developing the A section when it returns throughout the piece. The middle, near to the end section with the Alberti bass gives it a nice break between all of the heavy repeated notes. That's one thing I would have done differently in this piece; separate it a little bit more from the heavy repeated chords.The context and idea behind this piece is a bit more abstract than my other pieces as I usually aim to have a story behind my music but it was born out of a musical idea rather than a philosophical one. However, it seems to convey a frantic mood as well as some times for rest and slowing down.There are some sections that I personally think are still a bit basic, which I think with more experience I will be able to write better. I would have to say the start of the second page, or the ascending chords part sounds quite nice. Overall, I'm fairly happy with the end result, and I have another piece to fully release in the near future. I plan on narrowing down certain parameters to further develop my composition techniques and skills.

It is dramatic and tender at the same time as the piano solo parts contrast evocatively with the orchestral parts to create one of the most atmospheric slow movements by Ludwig van Beethoven. The solo piano part starts in minor, and has a melancholy that is so poignant. The second phrase appears and it is in major for a just a moment before it returns to minor. This piece is a wonderful experience to play this piano and orchestral piece as a piano soloist. Enjoy.

Famously used in the 1967 film Elvira Madigan, hence the nickname, the Elvira Madigan concerto, Mozart's Piano Concerto No. 21 was completed soon after his 20th in 1785. There are 5 different arrangements for solo piano, each getting progressively harder and trying not to compromise on sound where possible: Level 1: Just over a minute long, this is the easiest version. Both hands are very simple and are very close together, making it easier to see what all the fingers are doing at the same time. No jumps greater than a fifth and no large chords, making it perfect for smaller hands. Level 2: Two version provided: the first just over a minute long; the second the complete length of the movement, minus the orchestra introduction. Again, the melody has been simplified, though harder than level 1, with an increased coverage of the piano. The accompaniment is either static chords (now triads as standard) or broken arpeggios. It now has jumps in the right hand of just over an octave, with the left hand moving relatively little between chords/arpeggios. Level 3: This version has an optional cut, otherwise is the complete second movement, minus the orchestral introduction. Similar to level 2, only one hand tends to be changing pitches/rhythms at any one time, but the right hand is now almost the same as Mozart’s original (with some ornamentation removed or written out in full). The left hand now has the familiar broken-chord pattern (see opening bars) but in simple rather than compound time. On the whole, the left hand moves relatively little between chords, although there are now some larger jumps when the right hand is static. Level 4: Like level 3, but with the broken chord in compound time throughout. Some of the orchestral accompaniment has been integrated into the music, though simplified. Level 5: The hardest version, more difficult than the original solo piano part. Still no orchestral introduction. Includes more of the orchestral accompaniment than level 4. This, in essence, is a piano transcription of the full orchestration for piano and orchestral. JS Bach has written many beautiful melodies. This is one of them. However, as it was originally written for solo violin, due to the technical difficulties playing it, the melody is often not fully appreciated. Besides, due to the nature of the violin, the accompaniment may sound a little jerky when played on solo violin. This arrangement allows the pianist to fully express the beauty of the melody, together with the accompaniment. Also, as the difficulty level is low, a violinist may want to try playing it (on piano), to fully appreciate the genius of Bach in reducing the beautiful melody and accompaniment into a solo violin piece. It also helps young violinists appreciate the various parts of the piece when played on solo violin. The pdf is for 1 piano.

Famously used in the 1967 film Elvira Madigan, hence the nickname, the Elvira Madigan concerto, Mozart's Piano Concerto No. 21 was completed soon after his 20th in 1785. There are 5 different arrangements for solo piano, each getting progressively harder and trying not to compromise on sound where possible: Level 1: Just over a minute long, this is the easiest version. Both hands are very simple and are very close together, making it easier to see what all the fingers are doing at the same time. No jumps greater than a fifth and no large chords, making it perfect for smaller hands. Level 2: Two version provided: the first just over a minute long; the second the complete length of the movement, minus the orchestra introduction. Again, the melody has been simplified, though harder than level 1, with an increased coverage of the piano. The accompaniment is either static chords (now triads as standard) or broken arpeggios. It now has jumps in the right hand of just over an octave, with the left hand moving relatively little between chords/arpeggios. Level 3: This version has an optional cut, otherwise is the complete second movement, minus the orchestral introduction. Similar to level 2, only one hand tends to be changing pitches/rhythms at any one time, but the right hand is now almost the same as Mozart’s original (with some ornamentation removed or written out in full). The left hand now has the familiar broken-chord pattern (see opening bars) but in simple rather than compound time. On the whole, the left hand moves relatively little between chords, although there are now some larger jumps when the right hand is static. Level 4: Like level 3, but with the broken chord in compound time throughout. Some of the orchestral accompaniment has been integrated into the music, though simplified. Level 5: The hardest version, more difficult than the original solo piano part. Still no orchestral introduction. Includes more of the orchestral accompaniment than level 4. This, in essence, is a piano transcription of the full orchestration for piano and orchestral. The organ sonatas, BWV 525?530 by Johann Sebastian Bach are a collection of six sonatas in trio sonata form. Each of the sonatas has three movements, with three independent parts in the two manuals and obbligato pedal. The collection was put together in Leipzig in the late 1720s and contained reworkings of prior compositions by Bach from earlier cantatas, organ works and chamber music as well as some newly composed movements. The sixth sonata, BWV 530, is the only one for which all three movements were specially composed for the collection. When played on an organ, the second manual part is often played an octave lower on the keyboard with appropriate registration. Commentators have suggested that the collection might partly have been intended for private study to perfect organ technique, some pointing out that its compass allows it to be played on a pedal clavichord.
The collection of sonatas is generally regarded as one of Bach's masterpieces for organ. The sonatas are also considered to be amongst his most difficult compositions for the instrument.

The first in a series of solo piano works inspired by scenes from literature, The Infernal Whirlwind is both a representation of and reaction to Canto V in Dante's Inferno. Dante and his guide Virgil enter the second level of Hell, where the souls of people who gave into lust are condemned. At first Dante hears but a faint sound of commotion, but upon fully entering the level he encounters a massive tempest of souls being buffeted about. He recognizes some famous figures here and there. Eventually, his attention is drawn to two figures, the primary one being Francesca da Rimini. She tells of how, after reading of Sir Lancelot, she and her brother-in-law allowed themselves to love each other. Dante, deeply moved by the pathos of Francesca's story and disturbed by the continuous whirlwind, faints.Composers such as Rachmaninov and Tchaikovsky have been inspired by Francesca da Rimini specifically, but The Infernal Whirlwind is more concerned with what the whirlwind itself represents: the control lust and desire held on these souls, both while living and in the afterlife. The central theme is a twelve-tone row, but the work is not truly serialist in construction or conception: It rather represents the winding, ranging, unsettled nature of passion itself, and of the whirlwind.The piece lasts about 5 minutes, and is for an advanced player. In the beginning it requires use of all three pedals (una corda, sostenuto, sustain). Perhaps the main influence is Liszt, and one could find useful a Lisztian approach to performance. .

Hence the categorization of postmodern, due to the use of the camouflaged quotation as an essential structuring device (although a well-prepared musicologist should better not read this).Character: gentle andante (walking).
