Indigo Mesa Music LLC #721998. Published by Indigo Mesa Music LLC (A0.1120783). “what great brightness did you see?†The French Christmas carol, arranged and performed by Kathleen Ryan on her Christmas CD, The Rebirth of Light. Kathleen's notes: I arranged this carol with high trills for the sound of angel wings, to denote their presence. Seems like if we’re hearing them, they ought to be here! Advanced: requires beautiful trills and tremolos, facility with parallel sixths. Suitable for use in church.

Piano Solo - Level 2 - Digital Download SKU: A0.1212848 Composed by Elizabeth Borowsky. 20th Century,Classical,Contemporary. Score. 6 pages. Piano Prodigies #810061. Published by Piano Prodigies (A0.1212848). A weekend morning hike on a trail in Norwich, Vermont turned into a magical experience when I paused to take a picture of an especially colorful tree and looked up at the sky above it. I saw the most unusual cloud formation that seemed to perfectly portray a gentle yet majestic angel, guiding the way, with a staff or trumpet in the right hand. This lyrical piece explores the concepts of a long melodic line over a quiet but ever-flowing accompaniment pattern and ascending arpeggiated patterns shared between the hands.

Piano Solo - Level 1 - Digital Download SKU: A0.895226 Composed by Hideki Sakamoto. Arranged by Fernando Ramos. Contemporary. Score. 2 pages. Fernando Ramos #6575505. Published by Fernando Ramos (A0.895226). Hear it on YouTube:https://youtu.be/orjHaH77KzYLifelight (Super Smash Bros. Theme) - Late Beginner Piano Solo I make piano solo arrangements for my students of songs that they love! My goal is to create something that sounds beautiful as a standalone piece of music, but most importantly, that it actually makes pianistic sense. Sometimes I even hide exercises in the arrangements that I want a student to work on. All of my arrangements are usually made for a specific student, so the results will always vary. This arrangement was made for a late beginner student, Primary III, working on Level 1-2 of the Alfred's Masterwork Classics series. He loves his video games! As with many arrangements, I often simplify rhythms so that the melodies are more understandable to students. Then they completely ignore my simplified rhythm and play what they know by ear. I don't know why I continue underestimating them! So, I have kept a more complicated rhythm for this arrangement. The left hand is mostly blocked fifths with a few deviations for contrast. I recommend some use of pedal, but not necessary. When the main tune returns, left hand plays fifths in unison with melody--some exceptions. This keeps things very easy and even faster to learn.Pedal and fingering suggestions are included.

Piano Solo - Level 4 - Digital Download SKU: A0.1035856 Composed by Traditional French Carol, James Chadwick. Arranged by Jake Smolowe. Christmas,Jazz. Score. 2 pages. ArrangeMe #6904239. Published by ArrangeMe (A0.1035856). This is the lead sheet version of Jake Smolowe's recording of Angels We Have Heard on High, from his 2021 album Christmas Solo: Informal, Improvised. The chart includes the lead melody line, detailed chord symbols throughout, and a notated piano intro/interlude. Length: 2 pages Notes from Jake: This arrangement of Angels We Have Heard on High is kind of an ode to Brad Mehldau’s many jazz waltz arrangements over the years (for example, She’s Leaving Home, from Day is Done). I wanted to capture the feel of Mehldau’s classic trio waltzes, not just the piano but the drums and bass too. The A sections feature a constantly rising chord progression, with slight differences in chord quality between the first two A’s, and then the B sections highlight some more dramatic reharmonizations as well as a dichotomy between straight-eighths/behind the beat melody and swung accompaniment. The intro, which also serves as the outro vamp as well as an interlude between choruses, includes a bell-like theme that I hope instantly conjures up the Christmas/holiday spirit. Tips for Performance: The intro/interlude/outro can be tricky! I encourage watching the YouTube video and or/listening to the mp3 to get a sense of the timing for the fingering switches and pedaling. Also, in the B sections, the LH is often swinging while the right hand plays straight eighths; as with the intro, the best way to lock down this feel is to check out the YouTube video.------Visit me on the web: http://www.jakesmolowe.comYouTube: https://www.youtube.com/jakesmoloweInstagram: http://www.instagram.com/jakesmolowejazz Facebook: http://www.facebook.com/jakesmolowejazz

Piano Solo - Advanced Intermediate - Digital Download Composed by Claude Debussy/Robert Orledge. 20th Century, Impressionistic, Repertoire, Recital. Score. 71 pages. Published by Musik Fabrik Music Publishing
Contains A Night in the House of Usher Un Jour affreux avec Le Diable dans le beffroi, Les accords de septième regrettent!!!, Petite Valse,Fêtes galantes, and Prélude à ‘L’Histoire de Tristan’

From Robert Orledge's notes:

My interest in the wonderful music of Claude Debussy began in the 1980s when I researched and published a book with Cambridge University Press entitled Debussy and the Theatre. During the course of my studies in Paris, I was amazed to discover that Debussy planned over 50 theatrical works but only finished two of these entirely by himself (the opera Pelléas et Mélisande in 1893–1902 and the ballet Jeux for Diaghilev’s Ballets Russes in 1912–13). Of the rest, many were never started musically (like Siddartha and Orphée-roi with the Oriental scholar Victor Segalen, 1907); some had a few tantalising sketches (like the Edgar Allan Poe opera Le Diable dans le beffroi, 1902–03); some were half-finished (like his other Poe opera La Chute de la Maison Usher, 1908–17); while others were musically complete but had their orchestrations completed by other composers (like Khamma, by Charles Koechlin, 1912–13; or Le Martyre de Saint Sébastien and La Boîte à joujoux by his ‘angel of corrections’ [‘l’ange des Corrections’] André Caplet in 1911 and 1919 respectively).

For it has to be admitted that what some scholars call Debussy’s ‘compulsive achievement’ could equally well be viewed as laziness, especially as far as the minute detail required for calligraphing his orchestral scores was concerned. It was as if creating the music itself was of greater importance than controlling its final sound, even if Debussy was an imaginative orchestrator when he found the time and energy to do it. It also seems true that Debussy also preferred inventing ideas to turning them into complete pieces. However, despite the lack of detail in many of his sketches (missing clefs, key signatures, dynamics, phrasing, etc.) the notes themselves are surprisingly accurate, whether or not they can be compared with a later draft. Thus, a large number of sketches exist for his Chinese ballet No-ja-li ou Le Palais du Silence and it is not too difficult to see which parts of Georges de Feure’s 1913 scenario (see below) inspired which ideas. But Debussy hardly made any attempt to join them together after the first few bars.

It was usually up to his publisher, Jacques Durand, to find solutions when Debussy risked a breach of contract. Debussy was supposed to supervise the orchestrations completed by others, but this supervision was usually very light and restricted to quiet, sensitive moments in which problems were easier to spot. Far from jealously guarding every one of his created notes, as Ravel did, Debussy once even went as far as to ask Koechlin to ‘write a ballet for him that he would sign’ on 26 March 1914 when he was hard-pressed to fulfil his lucrative contract for No-ja-li with André Charlot at the Alhambra Theatre in London. In the end, Debussy (through Durand) sent Charlot the symphonic suite Printemps instead, whose orchestration had been completed by Henri Busser in the Spring of 1912.

So, when I was offered early retirement as Professor of Music at Liverpool University in 2004, I seized the opportunity it would give me to spend time trying to reconstruct some of Debussy’s lost potential masterpieces from his existing sketches and drafts—then orchestrating them in Debussy’s style when this was appropriate. I had begun this mission in 2001 with the most promising project, the missing parts of Scene 2 of La Chute de la Maison Usher and the sheer joy it gave me at every stage persuaded me to tackle other projects, especially when Debussy experts were unable to identify exactly where I took over from Debussy (and vice versa) in Usher.Contains A Night in the House of Usher Un Jour affreux avec Le Diable dans le beffroi, Les accords de septième regrettent!!!, Petite Valse,Fêtes galantes, and Prélude à ‘L’Histoire de Tristan’

From Robert Orledge's notes:

My interest in the wonderful music of Claude Debussy began in the 1980s when I researched and published a book with Cambridge University Press entitled Debussy and the Theatre.

I had begun this mission in 2001 with the most promising project, the missing parts of Scene 2 of La Chute de la Maison Usher and the sheer joy it gave me at every stage persuaded me to tackle other projects, especially when Debussy experts were unable to identify exactly where I took over from Debussy (and vice versa) in Usher.

Piano Solo - Advanced Intermediate - Digital Download Composed by Claude Debussy/Robert Orledge. 20th Century, Impressionistic, Repertoire. Score. 76 pages. Published by Musik Fabrik Music Publishing
Contains Le Roi Lear: Prélude,Première Fanfare, and La Mort de Cordélia,Toomai des éléphants, Rodrigue et Chimène: Prélude à l’acte 1p. Le Martyre de Saint Sébastien: La Passion , and No-ja-li ou Le Palais du Silence

Published by No Solution Publishing (A0.950056). Companion sheet music to Kevin Kern's 2012 CD, Christmas. Carefully and lovingly transcribed by Kern himself, ensuring that these scores are as accurate to the recordings as humanly possible. As with his previous recordings and songbooks, Kevin keeps the melodies of these traditional carols and songs simple, lyrical, and evocative. What makes these arrangements unique is Kern’s use of jazz chords and voicings that gives some of the songs a slight edge and makes them distinctive. The spacing is clear, roomy, and easy to read. Even more importantly, the music is FUN to play and very enjoyable to learn. - Kathy Parsons, MainlyPiano.com For more information about Steinway Artist and composer Kevin Kern, visit his website at KevinKern.com.
