Pachelbel?s famous Canon was popular during his lifetime, but then slipped into obscurity for centuries before making a comeback in the 1970s and '80s. Since then it has frequently been used for weddings and funerals and has led to a variety of pop song adaptations. This early intermediate piano solo remix starts out with the classic slow chord progression of the original, then shifts gears to a driving rock beat that would certainly liven up a funeral. 4 pages. There are many piano arrangements of this well-known and hugely popular piece of classical music, however this arrangement is actually a transcription for solo piano, based entirely on the original handwritten manuscript. The music was written for three violins and basso continuo (cello and harpsichord accompaniment), which inevitably gives the pianist's fingers plenty of work to do (not unlike a Bach fugue in places) but the end result is very effective. Advanced pianists will have no problem adding their own personal fingering, which has been deliberately omitted for that very reason.
