Dora PejaÄević, born in Budapest in 1885 and died in Munich in 1923, was a composer of the Croatian noble family.This Ouverture en ré mineur pour grand orchestre is one of her fascinating collection of works that allow for deep expression through the use of harmony that sometimes pushes the limits, as is typical around the beginning of the 20th century.This piano reduction was commissioned by the Japan Croatia Music Society and was completed in August 2021, and premiered in Tokyo on 18 September by the great pianist Mr. Tomohiro Adachi.Arranger Yuki Hasegawa, biography Arranger, pianist, conductor and producer. She completed the department of piano at the Kunitachi College of Music, and the departments of chamber music, eÌcriture musicale and orchestration at the Conservatoire SupeÌrieur de Paris-CNR. She also studied eÌcriture musicale at the CNSM-Lyon. She studied under Profs. Alain Louvier, Bernard de Crépy and other representative professors in France in terms of composition and arrangement. She later completed the conducting biennio department at the Milano Civica Scuola di Musica Claudio Abbado, and in recent years has been the guest conductor at the Japan Croatia Music Society. She travels to various parts of Croatia to research music, visits music research institutes and composers, and strives for understanding. As a chamber musician, she has also worked on numerous experimental harmony works of the same era as Dora PejacÌŒevicÌ, and has also recorded on CD. She is a member of the Irish Music Rights Organisation. Her works can be licensed for performance by representative organisations in each country. Pachelbel's Canon Pachelbel's Canon is, in fact, the traditional title for a composition by the German composer Johann Pachelbel. Other names for the work include namely: Canon and Gigue for 3 violins and basso continuo, Canon and Gigue in D, and of course Canon in D. We do not know when or why in particular it was written. The oldest copy is surprisingly from the 19th century. It is important to realize that it was a common routine for organists to practice improvisation on the chord progression underlying the canon. Pachelbel originally scored the Canon notably for three violins and continuo. He also in fact paired the Canon with a gigue. The movements are homotonal, to clarify, both are in the key of D major. History In due time, Pachelbel's Canon went out of style and remained in virtual oblivion for centuries. The Jean-François Paillard chamber orchestra, however, recorded an arrangement of it in 1968. As a result, it gained approval. Many ensembles began likewise to record the piece in the 1970s and by the 1980s became ubiquitous as background music. From the 1970s to the early 2000s, pop songs correspondingly used elements of the piece. The chord progression, in particular, was used this way. Also, since the 1980s, it has been not only wildly popular for weddings, but also for funeral ceremonies in the USA and Europe. Pachelbel Background Johann Pachelbel (1653 –1706) was a German composer, as well as an organist. He was furthermore instrumental in bringing the south German organ school to its apex. He wrote a large body of music, both sacred and, equally important, secular. In particular, he uniquely helped develop the chorale prelude and fugue. For this, he has, in fact, earned a rightful place in the company of the most significant composers of the mid-Baroque period. Works Pachelbel's music was certainly popular. With this in mind, he also consequently had many pupils. His music expressly developed into a model for south German composers. Nowadays, Pachelbel is most famous, particularly for the Canon in D, as well as the F minor Chaconne, the Toccata in E minor, and of course the Hexachordum Apollinis, a set of variations for the keyboard. Influences Johann Jakob Froberger and Johann Caspar Kerll were south German composers who significantly influenced Pachelbel. Furthermore, he was especially influenced by Italians such as Frescobaldi and Poglietti. He frequently preferred an articulate, simple contrapuntal style that highlighted clarity. His music is markedly less extravagant and harmonically adventurous than that of Dieterich Buxtehude. However, as a point often overlooked, like Buxtehude, Pachelbel experimented with different instrumental combinations in his chamber music. Legacy All in all, Pachelbel was most famous as a composer for the keyboard. He composed over two hundred pieces specifically for the instrument. Pachelbel was also surprisingly a prolific composer of vocal music. All in all, about a hundred vocal works survive, including 40 or so large-scale works.

Famously used in the 1967 film Elvira Madigan, hence the nickname, the Elvira Madigan concerto, Mozart's Piano Concerto No. 21 was completed soon after his 20th in 1785. There are 5 different arrangements for solo piano, each getting progressively harder and trying not to compromise on sound where possible: Level 1: Just over a minute long, this is the easiest version. Both hands are very simple and are very close together, making it easier to see what all the fingers are doing at the same time. No jumps greater than a fifth and no large chords, making it perfect for smaller hands. Level 2: Two version provided: the first just over a minute long; the second the complete length of the movement, minus the orchestra introduction. Again, the melody has been simplified, though harder than level 1, with an increased coverage of the piano. The accompaniment is either static chords (now triads as standard) or broken arpeggios. It now has jumps in the right hand of just over an octave, with the left hand moving relatively little between chords/arpeggios. Level 3: This version has an optional cut, otherwise is the complete second movement, minus the orchestral introduction. Similar to level 2, only one hand tends to be changing pitches/rhythms at any one time, but the right hand is now almost the same as Mozart’s original (with some ornamentation removed or written out in full). The left hand now has the familiar broken-chord pattern (see opening bars) but in simple rather than compound time. On the whole, the left hand moves relatively little between chords, although there are now some larger jumps when the right hand is static. Level 4: Like level 3, but with the broken chord in compound time throughout. Some of the orchestral accompaniment has been integrated into the music, though simplified. Level 5: The hardest version, more difficult than the original solo piano part. Still no orchestral introduction. Includes more of the orchestral accompaniment than level 4. This, in essence, is a piano transcription of the full orchestration for piano and orchestral. Famously used in the 1967 film Elvira Madigan, hence the nickname, the Elvira Madigan concerto, Mozart's Piano Concerto No. 21 was completed soon after his 20th in 1785. There are 5 different arrangements for solo piano, each getting progressively harder and trying not to compromise on sound where possible: Level 1: Just over a minute long, this is the easiest version. Both hands are very simple and are very close together, making it easier to see what all the fingers are doing at the same time. No jumps greater than a fifth and no large chords, making it perfect for smaller hands. Level 2: Two version provided: the first just over a minute long; the second the complete length of the movement, minus the orchestra introduction. Again, the melody has been simplified, though harder than level 1, with an increased coverage of the piano. The accompaniment is either static chords (now triads as standard) or broken arpeggios. It now has jumps in the right hand of just over an octave, with the left hand moving relatively little between chords/arpeggios. Level 3: This version has an optional cut, otherwise is the complete second movement, minus the orchestral introduction. Similar to level 2, only one hand tends to be changing pitches/rhythms at any one time, but the right hand is now almost the same as Mozart’s original (with some ornamentation removed or written out in full). The left hand now has the familiar broken-chord pattern (see opening bars) but in simple rather than compound time. On the whole, the left hand moves relatively little between chords, although there are now some larger jumps when the right hand is static. Level 4: Like level 3, but with the broken chord in compound time throughout. Some of the orchestral accompaniment has been integrated into the music, though simplified. Level 5: The hardest version, more difficult than the original solo piano part. Still no orchestral introduction. Includes more of the orchestral accompaniment than level 4. This, in essence, is a piano transcription of the full orchestration for piano and orchestral. He composed the short duo for violin and piano in 1888 as an engagement present for his piano student Caroline Alice Roberts, whom he then married the following year. The dedication ‘à Carice’ was derived from her initials. Since Alice spoke German very well, Elgar originally chose the title ‘Liebesgruß’. The publishers Schott, to whom he sold all rights for a one-off fee of just two guineas in 1888, changed the title to the French ‘Salut d’amour’ in order to exploit the sales potential. The present piano version (plate number 24787-2) was created by Elgar himself and was published by Schott in 1889 along with the editions for violin and piano and for small chamber orchestra. Later, without Elgar’s involvement, the piece was arranged and published for all possible instrumental combinations. Elgar was naturally annoyed that he did not benefit financially himself from this success and in a letter to Novello & Co. In 1897 wrote: ‘[Salut d’amour] which unfortunately I sold some years ago for a nominal sum, now sells well – I understand 3000 copies were sold in the month of January alone.’.

Published by Jason Thompson (A0.1209030). During the 1770s, J.J. Hummel, a music publisher in Amsterdam, published a pirated edition of Johann Baptist Vanhal's popular Symphony in D minor. In this edition, the middle two movements were thrown out and replaced with a slow movement for string orchestra. I have taken this movement for string orchestra and basso continuo and arranged it for solo keyboard. The primary thematic material is based on a simple downward lilting gesture. This lilt is sweetened with parallel falling thirds later in movement. This contrasts against the insistance of the secondary melodic material and creates a formal structure that exists between binary form and a rudimentary sonata form.

Her earliest memory was watching her mother play classical piano. Sydney's father is a jazz pianist, so both jazz and classical influences came at an early age. Her strong sense of artistry has evolved from years of composing music that expresses a wide range of emotions. Sydney is a master at creating musical landscapes which evoke strong imagery.A natural composer, Stevens finished her music composition degree after years of honing her artistry in the absence of outside influences. After completing her formal training in music composition, Sydney graduated cum laude from University of Redlands in California, receiving the prestigious Sigma Alpha Iota Composer's Award. Stevens also studied music composition at University of York, England and with composer and recording artist Bill Douglas in Boulder, Colorado. In addition to her large body of piano works and vocal songs, Sydney has composed music for chamber and symphony orchestra. Born in Los Angeles, California and raised in Seattle, Washington, Stevens currently resides in the beautiful Columbia River Gorge. A prolific composer, Stevens also teaches private piano lessons to students of all ages.
