Steel ringing in rhythm to voices, the sound of metal slicing through wood in all its sweetness. A hot brilliant mid-day sun on the street. Ducking into the doorway, then tuning the piano. It must be a special day.The clock and church bell sounding in unison, the end of Tuesdayâ€™s labor.Humidity saturates El Tropicano, with the upright piano and a half-glass of amber. The piano montuno and bass tumbao, along with a half-complete catch of drums telegraph out the rhythms for the Casino dancing. Tall ivory women and shorter browner men in white hats, moving across the floor. â€˜Still time for one more dance. He is a member of the ACME roster of Mu Phi Epsilon, recognized for distinguished achievement as a composer. His paintings are seen in exhibitions and in concerts where his paintings are projected while musicians perform his music. Hooverâ€™s background as a performer includes both classical and jazz music, as saxophonist and conductor. His book The Arts and Society: Making New Worlds is published by Kendall Hunt Publishing.Hoover was born on September 11, 1959, in Anderson, Indiana. This piece portrays one miraculous day out in nature with the weather, as well as the tunes and moods changing constantly. Here I used every piano register to create contrasts. It begins with the sun rising over the horizon with piano tremolo in a high register almost as a dew dripping from the grass, impressionistic melody in the middle register, and more forceful intervals in the lower register as a sign, that something majestic awaits. The next part is an innocent, lightsome fugue with baroque elements, that ends on a minor scale, creating suspense and uncertainty. After a little melancholic section in Largo (slow tempo), the storm has finally started. Thunder - Dramatic octaves in the lower register with glimpses of melody from the intro turn into a tempestuous dance with arpeggios in the left hand and somewhat sweet melody in the right hand. The last section is a calm after the storm. Little raindrops falling from the roofs in the upper register create the melody from the intro as if reminiscing of how joyful was the beginning of the day. The piece finishes with a feeling of unfulfillment and expectation of what surprises the new day will bring.

They take to the skies and wheel about with effortless grace and an intricacy of movement that would make the most professional dancers blush with envy. It would seem that they have rehearsed for uncounted hours as they swoop and glide about on an invisible dance floor. One moment rising to great heights, the next plummeting toward the earth, all the while maintaining a strict sense of control that does not lack for beauty. Slowly they begin to depart the stage, one by one, until they have all returned to their nests for the night. The sun sets and the curtain falls.
