Easy Piano - Level 2 - Digital Download SKU: A0.1270300 By Iannis Eralos. By Juan MarÃa Solare. 21st Century,Classical,Contemporary,Instructional,New Age. Score. 5 pages. Juan Maria Solare #862734. Published by Juan Maria Solare (A0.1270300). Juan MarÃa Solare: Embracing the Comfort Zone, for piano solo [en Castellano debajo]Tons of motivational speeches suggest, or rather order, to leave the comfort zone in order to achieve success. I dare to relativize this idea. In the comfort zone, one feels safe and in control. It is the realm of mastery, the place where we perform at our best. When in your comfort zone we can carry out tasks with ease and precision. Discomfort is not a measure of growth. Stress hampers creativity. While stress might be necessary in some situations to combat stagnation, life itself constantly pushes us outside our comfort zone. The comfort zone is not the enemy, it's not a trap. Instead, it can be our ally, a place where we can safely build with a solid foundation. And if you have the feeling it's not large enough, you can expand it.Oh, I forgot to mention that this is a quiet piano piece! In neoclassical style.

Piano Solo - Level 5 - Digital Download SKU: A0.533692 Composed by Carson Cooman. 20th Century,Concert,Contemporary,Sacred,Standards. Score. 17 pages. Musik Fabrik Music Publishing #3038635. Published by Musik Fabrik Music Publishing (A0.533692). Biblicals: Concerto for Solo Piano in Five Movements (1998) was commissioned from thecomposer by an anonymous benefactor for pianist Kathleen Supové in tribute of her tirelesssupport of new music. The work is in five movements, each inspired by a different biblical quotation which isquoted in the score before each movement. If possible, these passages should be printed inthe program or read aloud before the performance of the work. Each movement isprogrammatic only in an internal sense. While the movements do not attempt to directlyportray the action of the passage in a storybook sense, they do attempt to capture the overallaffect of the verse. The form of the work is as a concerto for solo piano drawing on a titlethat has been used in the past by numerous composers. Likewise, although the work does notinvolve an orchestra, I have titled it concerto because it contains elements of a concerto solopart and because of the virtuosity required to perform the work. The work explores a widerangeof styles from quasi-lyrical to highly chromatic. Throughout, the work has a rhythmicintensity which should be observed by the performer. The first movement, Hovering Over the Waters, makes use of an irregular rhythmic patternintroduced in the opening measure and used throughout the work. Irregular and nervousrhythms using chromatic intervals pervade the entire movement. The second movement, Baldhead, is a forceful and loud movement making use of the clashbetween diatonic and pentatonic clusters. It is relentless in its pounding energy, irregularrhythms, and volume. This movement is dedicated to American composer Daniel Pinkhamon the occasion his 75th birthday in 1998. The connection of this movement to Pinkhamcomes in the superimposition of pentatonic and diatonic clusters, a technique used so well inone of my favorite Pinkham works, Blessings for Organ (1978).The third movement, Forgiven and Free, presents a tranquil scene involving the building ofchords, standard and otherwise, through the adding of tones one at a time. Brief chromaticmelodies appear and then disappear quickly. The fourth movement, Under the Sun, makes use of a motive involving four chords over a lefthand bass consisting of a major-tenth chord. This motive appears throughout the movement, constantly breaking in and interrupting the action. A variety of irregular rhythmic motivesappear throughout as a contrast to the main motive with its strict rhythm. Quotes of nurseryrhyme tunes are hidden throughout the movement as well in various forms. The fifth movement, The Seventh Angel, is a fast and furious tarantella. As the movementflies by a variety of musical ideas emerge and then disappear into the main motive again. The music continues to get faster and faster and finally the movement ends with a furiousprogression from the bottom to top of the piano and then a thunderous unison chord in thelower register.

Piano Solo - Advanced Intermediate - Digital Download Composed by Joseph Dillon Ford. 21st Century, Contemporary Classical, Impressionistic. Score. 22 pages. Published by David Warin Solomons
The pdf file contains the original score (in letter format) followed by the somewhat larger copy with dedication by the composer and fingerings by Valentin Bogolubov who premiered the 3 Chromicons.<br> <br> The sound sample is the live performance.<br> <br> The Three Chromicons were premiered by pianist Valentin Bogolubov at the Société de concerts de St-Bruno, Saint-Bruno, Quebec, Canada, on 27 January 2007. Bogolubov's adventurous, technically demanding program, which also featured the works of Alexander Scriabin and Jean Chatillon, was accompanied by video animation of numerous works of art, four of which were created by the composer (among them, the Chromicon No. 3).<br> <br> Ford explains the significance of these unique scores:<br> <br> "In both my earliest chromicons, which I had begun to create by the 1980s, and in those I continue to make today, color is the element that links what is seen to what is heard. Unlike composer Alexander Scriabin, who may have been a true synaesthete as the result of a rare neurological condition enabling him actually to hear colors, my approach to color music has been by way of analogy. Although the tones in a musical scale and the colors of a prism both result from specific vibratory frequencies, scales can be replicated in various octaves while there is no comparable transposition observable in the case of the spectrum. However, the analogy between pitch and hue is implicit in the term "chromatic scale" (the Greek chrôma signifies "color"), and on that basis it is possible to equate the twelve tones of Western music with the hues on a twelvefold color wheel: red, red-orange, orange, yellow-orange, yellow, yellow-green, green, blue-green, blue, blue-violet, violet, and red-violet."<br> <br> "By placing the pitch names of the chromatic scale in a separate band around the periphery of a such color wheel, much like the numbers on the face of a clock, and by rotating the central color wheel, it is possible for any given pitch to be aligned and associated with any hue. Such an easily constructed device, which I have dubbed the "chromonomicon," is the key necessary to decipher the musical meaning of my chromicons. The chromicon can be thought of as a calligraphic text in which each discrete area of color is a separate letter."<br> <br> "Although there are literally millions of possible colors, all of them can be categorized as one of the twelve hues shown on the chromonomicon. Instead of being written from left to right or from right to left, the color-letters in a chromicon are arranged concentrically. The shapes of the individual letters, usually painted in watercolor and "illuminated" with metallic paints, colored pencils, and other media, are the result of each artist's creative meditation. The personal meaning of the chromiconic text as a whole emerges during and after this meditation, and may be expressed by a conventional title or accompanying commentary."<br> <br> "Now, anyone wishing to realize a chromicon is at liberty to follow any path—straight or curvilinear—from the centermost letter to the periphery, constructing a cantus (melody) by notating the musical pitches associated with each contiguous color-letter encountered along the way. The cantus thereafter serves as the structural basis of a new, freely composed work. The individual pitches in the cantus may be moved to any octave, and may be repeated any number of times before proceeding to the next pitch in the sequence. Customarily, once the final tone of the cantus is reached, the entire melody is heard in reverse (retrograde), resulting in a palindrome. That palindrome is itself subject to varied repetition, so that in formal terms, each realization of a chromicon amounts to a 'mirror' theme with variations."<br> <br> "Chromicon No. 3 travels even further back in collective human memory to the eighteenth century. For all its contemporary melodic and harmonic inflections, the style is pervasively contrapuntal, summoning to mind the polyphonic keyboard textures of Bach and Handel. It eschews the worldly strife and diversions mirrored in the first two chromicons, maintaining a dignified, highly stylized manner throughout, but with its unexpected final cadence on D, there seems to be a fleeting intimation of transcendence."<br> <br> Video of Chromicon III<br> https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=VHMw-vzZlGEThe pdf file contains the original score (in letter format) followed by the somewhat larger copy with dedication by the composer and fingerings by Valentin Bogolubov who premiered the 3 Chromicons.<br> <br> The sound sample is the live performance.<br> <br> The Three Chromicons were premiered by pianist Valentin Bogolubov at the Société de concerts de St-Bruno, Saint-Bruno, Quebec, Canada, on 27 January 2007. Piano Solo - Digital Download SKU: A0.901081 Composed by Paul Copeland. 20th Century,Contemporary. Score. 50 pages. Paul Copeland #5988217. Published by Paul Copeland (A0.901081). Audacious Binary Forms for pianist playing one or two pianos, won Australia’s most prestigious piano composition competition the Jean Bogan Prize for Piano Composition 2016. The world premiere was performed by Michael Kieran Harvey. He is considered by many as being one of Australia’s greatest living concert pianists. Michael specializes in performing world premieres of compositions by Australian composers. He is also a prolific composer of avant-garde music. ABSTRACT FROM THE GENERAL DIRECTIONS Audacious Binary Forms for piano is in a fractured binary form. Two types of structures exist; lettered structures, which are experimental structures, and explore the sonorities of the piano, and numbered structures, which are more traditional structures. A structure may be a single page or more than one page. Each page in a structure is to be played sequentially. For example, with structure C, consisting of three pages, C1, C2, C3, each page is played sequentially in numerical order, C1, C2, C3. EXPERIMENTAL STRUCTURESThe structures A, B, C, D, E, F, G, Percussion, CADENZA, and CODA are experimental. TRADITIONAL STRUCTURESThe structures 1, 2, 3, 4, 5, and 6, are traditional. PREPARING THE SCORE FOR PERFORMANCE There are four different options for a performance. MINIMALIST OPTIONThe 13 cards cut from the CUTOUT page are shuffled. Card 4 Rag (1,2) is removed. The 12 cards are placed face down. One card is revealed representing the structure that is to be performed. A member of the audience can be invited to shuffle the cards. STOCHASTIC OPTION An audience member or members can be invited to shuffle all the pages of the score. The resultant random sequence of pages becomes the whole score for the performance. PERFORMER’S OPTIONThe performer prepares the structures according to his musical tastes. All of the experimental structures should be performed. The performer is free to play none, some, or all of the traditional structures. Please note that each structure remains an independent structure and is played sequentially. For example, structure C, consisting of three pages would be played C1, C2, C3 in that order. PERFORMER/COMPOSER OPTIONMonths before the concert the performer can contact me at paulcopeland1@bigpond.com, to discuss the performance, and to work out an ideal performance structure for the work, taking into consideration the venue, expected size of audience, size of auditorium, music program, and if two pianos will be available. IMPORTANT INFORMATION REGARDING SHEET MUSIC SIZE Please note that the score should be printed on separate pages (the notated pages), not back to back. Ideally the score should be printed on A3 pages in colour. However the score can still be printed in grayscale. The sheet music file is approximately 15Mb because the score is in full color. BIOGRAPHICAL INFORMATION Paul Copeland is an award-winning multi-genre composer, graphic artist, programmer, teacher, and author, based in his home city of Melbourne. His compositional styles range from neo-classical, jazz, ragtime, and musical theatre to electronic, avant-garde, post-avant-garde, and experimental music. Born in 1947, Copeland grew up an only child in a musical household. His mother was a talented singer, his father an accomplished amateur pianist, composer of popular music, and internationally renowned travelling telepathist known as Argus The Boy Prophet. Copeland's musical studies commenced at the age of 16 when he began studying piano, and a year later, he enrolled at the Melba Conserv.

The aim of this piece is to capture the feeling/emotion that is felt when forgiving while one remains unable to forget the pain before suffered resulting from he/ or she who is forgiven. The audio clip just gives you an idea of what it sounds like. Obviously more can be done with the sound when played by a human. Suggestions: Try to play it slower than the tempo in the clip and creep with the fingers in order to create the quiet, tormented, yet forgiving and calm sound.

Piano Solo - Level 3 - Digital Download SKU: A0.1024623 Composed by Reed Benson. Contemporary. Score. 2 pages. Reed Benson #4613629. Published by Reed Benson (A0.1024623). Misfortune is my final theory project of my community college experience, and honestly, I had fun in community college but I can't wait for the future opportunities that will come to me. Anyways, about the piece, This piece is my second project out of three and unfortunately you guys won't be able to see the third project unless if I figure out how to write it in Finale. This project is all a Twelve-Tone composition written in Piano while my third project is an Indeterminacy. I never really been a fan of Twelve-Tone music because I always thinks it sounds really ugly so that is why I had the idea to call it Misfortune, symbolizing depression or bad luck. Misfortune can be a good solo piece and in my opinion, it is an easy piece to practice. The total length of the piece is 2:48 and this is open for anyone to purchase and perform.Anyways, that is really all I have to say about the piece. If you all enjoyed this, please make sure to let me know. All feedback of any kind is greatly appreciated. Thank you all so much and have a great night.Written in Finale V25 Email Me: reedbensoncompositions@gmail.com SoundCloud: https://soundcloud.com/reed-bensonFacebook: www.facebook.com/reedbensoncompositions/ Instagram: www.instagram.com/reed_benson_compositions/?hl=en Twitter: twitter.com/reedbenson2015.

My college piano teacher assigned my first LH Alone piece (Prélude For Left Hand Alone by Alexander Scrià bin after I injured my right hand because needed to keep my practice going. 2. It’s concentrated practice for advancing all of the left hand skills. 3. For those of us who are right handed, we don’t always listen to the phrasing we are creating with our left hands. Playing a melody line with the left hand alone forces one to critique and correct the musicality of the left hand. 4. It forces the left hand to move from register to register on the piano. 5. There is wonderful literature for left hand alone that is worth playing.Suitable for Preludes, Offertories, Concerts. Piano Solo - Level 5 - Digital Download SKU: A0.958462 Composed by Joseph Dillon Ford. 20th Century,Contemporary. Score. 5 pages. David Warin Solomons2 #3691515. Published by David Warin Solomons2 (A0.958462). The Devil's Millhopper is north Florida's most famous sinkhole, a 120-foot-deep bowl-shaped concavity formed in soluble limestone by the erosive action of water over millennia. This geological formation got its name because fossilized shark teeth, marine shells, and the shattered remains of extinct land animals have all been discovered in its depths, as if these hapless creatures, trapped in a gigantic hopper, had served as grist for the Evil One's mill. In this fiendishly difficult short piece, I have attempted to evoke not only the erosive forces of water and earth but also the buzzing of mosquitoes and other insects that invariably accompany those hardy enough to attempt the 232-step descent on a hot, humid summer day. Tonal ambiguity is intentionally maintained until just before the movement ends with a gentle chromatic cascade, by which point the terra firma of G Major is firmly established.

Instrumental Solo - Level 4 - Digital Download SKU: A0.818321 By Stephen R Dalrymple. By Alexander Scriabin. Arranged by Edited by Stephen R Dalrymple. Romantic Period. Individual part. 5 pages. Stephen R Dalrymple #5997057. Published by Stephen R Dalrymple (A0.818321). Prélude for Left Hand Alone (Classical Music for Tablet Series) by Alexander Scrià bin (piano solo) Opus 9 Number 1 - (Classical Music for Tablet Series) ♫ Alexander Nikolayevich Scriabin [1871 – 1915] was a Russian composer and virtuoso pianist. Before 1903, Scriabin was greatly influenced by the music of Frédéric Chopin and composed in a relatively tonal, late Romantic idiom. Later, and independently of his influential contemporary, Arnold Schoenberg, Scriabin developed a much more dissonant musical language that had transcended usual tonality but was not atonal. He composed almost exclusively for solo piano and for orchestra. [condensed from Wikipedia October 2022] ♫ Prélude for Left Hand Alone belongs to the earlier period of his work. ♫ Edited for 10 inch tablet by Stephen R Dalrymple ♫ Performed by the Editor. ♫ I was introduced to this piece by my piano teacher, Jenny Wong, after injuring my right arm and needing to rest it. Compositions for left hand alone are valuable in developing and testing phrasing in the left hand. The most beautiful tone quality will be elusive if the left hand is weak in technique or phrasing. ♫ The Classical Music for Tablet Series offers piano masterworks by classical composers formatted to be read on 10 inch tablets. I use an Amazon Kindle with Mobile Sheets Pro and an Air Turn blue tooth foot pedal to practice and perform piano music. Similar products available to provide other tablets the same functionality. ♫ The pieces in this series have not been arranged, but most have been edited slightly, and have been formatted to fit screen size. For example, in the tablet versions, first and second endings are often removed and the repeated measures and endings written into the music so the performer can avoid having to go back to previous pages. These kinds of section repeats were invented to spare the composer’s time and the cost of extra paper and ink. But with a tablet the cost of paper and ink is irrelevant. ♫ Although there are a lot more page turns with a 10 inch screen compared with letter size pages, the readability of the music (due to the backlighting on the tablet) and the portability of the music (travelling with a small tablet instead of oversized books or portfolios of sheet music) easily makes up for the extra page turns. ♫ Your purchase provides one .pdf file that contains both the tablet edition and the letter size page (printable) version. There are several programs available online that will allow you to separate this .pdf file into 2 .pdf files to make it more useful.

Now Ólafsson brings his unique musical vision, and an affecting, meticulous recorded sound to Bach’s masterpiece. It marks the first time Ólafsson records a complete work and he begins with one of the most demanding in the piano repertoire. Ólafsson dedicates his 2023-24 season to a Goldberg Variations world tour, performing the work across six continents throughout the year. He brings Bach’s masterpiece to major concert halls including London’s Southbank Centre, New York’s Carnegie Hall, Wiener Konzerthaus, Philharmonie de Paris, Tokyo’s Suntory Hall, Philharmonie Berlin, Harpa Concert Hall, Sydney Opera House, LA’s Walt Disney Hall, Sala São Paulo, Shanghai Symphony Hall, Tonhalle Zurich, KKL Luzern, Alte Oper Frankfurt, Mupa Budapest and Teatro Colón, to name a few. “The Goldberg Variations contain some of the most virtuosic keyboard music ever written, some of the most astonishingly brilliant uses of counterpoint in the repertoire and countless instances of exalted poetry, abstract contemplation and deep pathos – all within immaculately shaped structures of formal perfection. In 30 variations, built on the humble harmonic framework of a simple, graceful aria, Bach turns limited material into boundless variety like no one before or since. He is the greatest keyboard virtuoso of his time.†comments VÃkingur Ólafsson.

Bach, VÃkingur Ólafsson, a leading pianist and contemporary musical genius, now takes on the monumental task of presenting Bach’s Goldberg Variations. The upcoming season is dedicated entirely to a global tour across six continents, with the eagerly awaited album slated for release in October 2023 on Deutsche Grammophon. Ólafsson shares, I have harbored the dream of recording this piece for 25 years. This album follows the resounding success of Ólafsson’s 2018 DG recording of Johann Sebastian Bach's works, which not only clinched BBC Music magazine’s Album of the Year but also secured Opus Klassik’s Solo Recital award and several other recording of the year accolades. Such achievements led to his well-deserved recognition as Gramophone magazine’s Artist of the Year. Now, Ólafsson directs his distinctive musical vision and meticulous recording finesse toward Bach’s masterpiece, embarking on his first complete work recording, starting with one of the most demanding pieces in the piano repertoire. In the 2023-24 season, Ólafsson sets forth on a Goldberg Variations world tour, gracing renowned concert halls worldwide, including London’s Southbank Centre, New York’s Carnegie Hall, Wiener Konzerthaus, Philharmonie de Paris, Tokyo’s Suntory Hall, Philharmonie Berlin, Harpa Concert Hall, Sydney Opera House, LA’s Walt Disney Hall, Sala São Paulo, Shanghai Symphony Hall, Tonhalle Zurich, KKL Luzern, Alte Oper Frankfurt, Mupa Budapest, and Teatro Colón, to name a few.Reflecting on the profound impact of the Goldberg Variations, Ólafsson comments, “The Goldberg Variations contain some of the most virtuosic keyboard music ever written, brilliantly employ counterpoint, and evoke exalted poetry, abstract contemplation, and deep pathos – all within meticulously crafted structures of formal perfection. In 30 variations, based on the humble harmonic framework of a simple, graceful aria, Bach transforms limited material into boundless variety like no one before or since. He stands as the greatest keyboard virtuoso of his time.â€This score has been painstakingly reedited. We offer here a clear edition, with indications of ornaments based on the edition by Bärenheiter, 1977.Listen to VÃkingur Ólafsson’s album ‘Goldberg Variations’ here: https://dg.lnk.to/vikingur-goldberg Discover full concert performances and operas on STAGE+, the new streaming service from Deutsche Grammophon: https://www.stage-plus.com/.

Published by Freeland Publications (A0.1069664). Duration: 14'52 (1989). Computer-driven Yamaha Disklavier performance. One of my more famous pieces. Its historic premiere at Pacifica Radio (KPFA) in Berkeley on 4 October, 1991 to inaugurate their new facility is included in Nicolas Slonimsky's book Music Since 1900. It has been reviewed and written about extensively. Here is what some reviewers have said:4 OCTOBER 1991: KPFA radio in Berkeley, California, dedicates its newly constructed, two-story broadcast facility at 1929 Martin Luther King Jr. Way with a live satellite broadcast … works on the inaugual program, produced and narrated by KPFA Music director Charles Amirkhanian, included … Grande Rag Brilliant [sic] by Gary NOLAND, a 15-minute rag introducing KPFA’s new Yamaha Disklavier grand piano, featuring fugues, frozen grace-notes to produce tone clusters, and a lengthy passage in which the music modulates up and down a half-tone each measure (the turntable change of speed effect) …-Nicolas Slonimsky, Music Since 1900 ...remarkable stuff...-Max Morath, ragtime composer and pianist … smashing and extremely difficult piano rag, … which is not distracted by the modulation-per-minute insanity of this beautiful and disorienting music … an exceedingly difficult composition by Berkeley composer Gary Noland, … the Grande Rag Brillante, Op. 15, was written in a modified turn-of-the-Century style and has never been performed successfully by a human pianist. It features something Mr. Noland calls the 'record-player-turntable-change-of-speed-effect.' In certain sections, each successive measure modulates up a half step into the next key signature, providing a mind-bending spiraling of focus which is truly breathtaking … spectacular… -Charles Amirkhanian, Folio (KPFA program guide) ...The Impossible Rag...-Oakland Tribune ...perfectly simulates a piano roll mistracking and continually changing keys...-Dick Zimmerman, Rag Times ...masterpiece!...We recommend Mr. Noland's music for anybody who desires the witty and unexpected approach to the Ragtime idiom.-L. Piano Solo - Level 4 - Digital Download SKU: A0.933520 Composed by Ludwig van Beethoven, Cees Nieuwenhuizen. Classical. Score. 48 pages. Upstream Music #482215. Published by Upstream Music (A0.933520). There are many more unfinished than completed compositions of Beethoven that have been preserved. ln these fragments one sees ideas for individual works. A large number of sketchbooks and sketches from the composer were preserved and are housed in libraries and private collections all over the globe. Some sketches are no more than brief experiments or short elaborated ideas, but there are also fragments preserved that nearly give us a complete picture of a composition. In the so-called Kafka sketchbook, which was published in 1970 in London, approximately 500 fragments of manuscripts were bundled that stem from 1786 - 1799. The Fantasia Sonata in D (deest 45) for piano forte in three parts, was hidden in the archives since 1792. This sonata of the young Beethoven, with striking similarities to the Moonlight sonata and the Pastorale has never been performed on stage. Young pianotalent Martin Oei played it for the first time in the Concertgebouw Amsterdam, October 21st, 2012. The large, over 1100 bars comprising torso now known as Fantasia Sonata in D from 1792, cannot be called a sketch anymore, although Beethoven has not completed the work and used many ideas in other, later works. The reconstruction of the sketches was done by the Dutch Beethoven musicologist and composer Cees Nieuwenhuizen. The piece was probably written in Bonn, three years before he started to write his first official piano sonata of a series of 32 sonatas. In November 1792 Beethoven went from Bonn to Vienna to study with the famous composer Joseph Haydn (1732–1809). Beethoven rapidly proceeded to make his mark as a brilliant keyboard performer and as a gifted young composer with a number of works to his credit. In 1795 his first mature published works appeared, and his career was officially launched. Striking harmonies The re-using of previously drafted material is quite common in Beethoven's works. Apparently the material wasn't yet ripe enough at the time of its origination, or perhaps Beethoven changed his mind with regards to the new composition. This could very well be so regarding the torso from Kafka’s sketchbook that we now call the Piano Fantasia sonata in D. This piece contains 1100 bars of music, not taking into account the alternative bars. The piece is composed by Beethoven in 1792 - 1793 and was set up as a tripartite sonata in D with remarkable abnormalities in terms of form and content. There are striking harmonies that cannot be found in other works composed in that same period. It’s possible that the composer didn’t have the courage to publish it or that indeed the time was not yet ripe for it. Finally the composer let the draft go and never came back to it. Or did he? Thematic similarities We find phrases in several later works that share similarities with ideas and themes from Fantasia sonata in D. The first part of Fantasia sonata has the same theme as the trio of the third movement of Symphony no. 7 (in A Major Opus 92). Even the key and also the rhythm in 3/4 time are the same. This cannot be a coincidence. Similar mood and thematic parallels can be found in the Pastorale, the Sonata for piano no. 15 (Opus 28): it is striking that this piece is also composed in D and in 3/4 time. We find similar dramatic expression in the Sonata for piano no. I 7 in d minor Opus 31 no. 2. The second movement of the Fantasia sonata nearly has the same theme as the second movement of the Sonata for piano no. 23 in minor (the Appassionato Opus 57). Martin Oei, Daiel Wayenberg, Cees Nieuwenhuizen at The World Premiere in The Concertgebouw Beethoven begins the third movement of the Fantasia sonata with the main theme of the first movement, but now in e minor. lts appearance in minor is an entirely new idea. Nevertheless Beethoven doesn't elaborate the idea any further because it disappears after 29 bars. Now a new agitated theme starts in d minor, which was announced in the first movement, but now reappears in its complete.

Dirk Chan Music Pty Ltd #923178. Published by Dirk Chan Music Pty Ltd (A0.1337362). Libera Me from Faure Requiem in D Minor Op.48 Arranged for Solo Piano is my arrangement of this beautiful work by Gabriel Fauré. Written from 1887 to 1900, the requiem originally for baritone, soprano, choir, organ and orchestra contains the Libera Me, which begins with a pulsing baseline, haunting melody by the baritone, with harmonies of Faure filled with nostalgia and romanticism. The middle section chorale is a brief interlude before a forte section followed by a return of the pulsing baseline to invite in the return of the melody and first subject, to a soft finish. This piece is a wonderful journey, one of the most beautiful works by Faure and the romantic classical music era, and wonderful to play and listen to. Enjoy!

Piano Solo - Level 2 - Digital Download SKU: A0.887255 Composed by Charles-Louis Hanon. Arranged by Martin Woodward. Instructional. Score. 37 pages. Martin Woodward #6513221. Published by Martin Woodward (A0.887255). Hanon Piano / Keyboard Exercises 1 - 30Condensed and Simplified for Beginners Easy ReadingIn this short book you will find condensed and simplified versions of the Hanon piano finger exercises 1 - 30 as well as the major, harmonic minor and melodic minor scales in every key (two octaves). What is Hanon? The ‘Hanon Virtuoso Pianist’ is a collection of piano finger exercises designed to give equal strength, agility and flexibility to all five fingers of both hands. Written by Charles-Louis Hanon sometime in the 1800s, these exercises without doubt have become one of the most widely used techniques by today’s pianists. In my opinion these are the best finger exercises available. One really great thing about these exercises is that they are applicable to both absolute beginners and advanced players alike, particularly as the reading ability required is minimal. Whatever your ability, these exercises will help improve your technique and finger strength. Having been written well over 100 years ago, the original work is now in the public domain and therefore digital copies can be acquired free of charge on the internet. However, most of these are very poor quality and the instructions are mainly in French or Russian - neither of which work too well for me! For the full version I personally recommend the ‘Alfred’ Edition edited by Allan Small which is clear and has instructions in English. So why do I need this book? The whole point is to make it easy to read and to reduce page turns - less is more! In the full version the first 30 exercises take up fifty pages whereas here there are three exercises per page for the first 20, then two per page for the next 10, reducing the fifty pages to just twelve. I initially produced this for my own use only but figured that others may like to take advantage of what I’ve done. Does this mean that the print is just smaller? No, not at all. If you are familiar with these exercises you will know that they are repeated patterns which ascend and descend for two octaves diatonically. To condense and simplify them and consequently eliminate an enormous amount of page turns I have shown: the all-important fingering on the first pattern (as per the original)then the repeated second patternthen ‘changeover’ patterns between ascending and descending - which are sometimes slightly differentthen finally the last pattern of each exercise which again is often very slightly different. I have also written them two octaves apart (for easy reading) and only shown them for one octave instead of two. In practice they should be played one octave apart and ultimately be practiced for two octaves. You can print out any or all the pages as required (the link for the pdf printable version is given at the end of the book). Please see: https://learn-keyboard.co.uk/hanon.html

Almost May for Piano Solo

Piano Solo - Level 2 - Digital Download SKU: A0.1376326 By Heidi Savoie. By Heidi Savoie. Arranged by Heidi Savoie. Classical,Contemporary,Instructional,Jazz,Singer/Songwriter. Score. 1 pages. Heidi Savoie #960870. Published by Heidi Savoie (A0.1376326). This is a solo piano arrangement of Almost May, best suited for an early intermediate player. Almost May - Theme and VariationsBackstory: Years ago I wrote a simple piano piece for my students. As instrumental music can fully exist outside the confines of words, it can be difficult to find the right title for something that is pure sound and possibility. I took inspiration from the time of year in which I had composed it and stamped it, “Almost Mayâ€. Like springtime in the Northern Hemisphere, “Almost May†unfolds slowly and majestically, with ever-evolving layers for the senses to discover. What to listen for: ThemeThe main theme is first presented by the piano with minimal fanfare. This part was written to be easy enough for a child, which despite being sparing of notes, delivers rich harmonic content. Every note has been carefully curated for the optimal combination of accessibility and depth. Weaving chromatically into distantly-related keys, the melody takes small steps into contrasting musical spaces. In a wordless procession, the storyline plays out, as if the theme discovers that someone very different lives next door, and they slowly become inseparable. The piano is accompanied by an airy touch of brushes against a snare drum, like the pitter patter of soft feline steps. In the low frequency range, the upright bass supports and deepens the tonal palette with its earthy underpinnings. What to listen for: Variation I The unmistakable string section arrives like a breath of warm air. Lush, warm and reassuring like sunshine on your cheeks, the string parts begin with long tones. This broadness and stability will evolve into more layers of complexity throughout the section. While the role of the string section is background accompaniment, it undergoes textural changes which allow for some layers to briefly rise to the forefront as melody. Careful listening to the string parts will reveal an oceanic churning, a motion from background to foreground with expansions and contractions along the way. Floating overtop this density is the improvised piano solo, with ascending gestures that progress in detail and density. Each instrument enters a general unfolding and growth period in the first variation. The bass and drums include more fills than before, as the ensemble tends gradually toward more grandeur. What to listen for: Variation II The final variation opens with a decadent treatment of the melody. What was initially expressed by a soloist as a childlike plea is reimagined as a two-part conversation between the piano and lead viola. The obbligato voiced in the viola is a derivation of the melody that holds the space between phrases so the listener's attention is passed seamlessly between the piano and viola part. This dialogue features commentary on the original melody in the form of ornamentation and taking surprising pathways to expected destinations. The rhythm section (bass and drums) takes more liberties in creating a verdant soundscape as the ensemble rises to a final climax.

Prelude Op.3 in C# minor, "Bells of Moscow" for Piano Solo of Rachmaninoff

Piano Solo - Level 4 - Digital Download SKU: A0.862657 Composed by Sergei Rachmaninoff. Arranged by Michael Bomier. Concert,Romantic Period,Standards. Score. 5 pages. Michael Butkus-Bomier #3601985. Published by Michael Butkus-Bomier (A0.862657). The Prelude in C# minor was the bane of Rachmaninoff's existence as a performer. Audiences could NOT get enough of it, and he could not bear to play it one more time! Such is Fame and Success. Well, we Normal Humans have had to look at the traditional setting of it, in two grand staves, with enough double-accidentals to blind a scribe, and try to emulate The Master from that pirate's treasure map. No longer. Here is a single-grand staff setting, with only the most minor modifications to accommodate the average hand, and spellings that show the true nature of the chords. The single best aspect of our setting here is the Total Elimination of the crossed-hand octaves throughout. When I realized these were only three or four-note triads, and not a pile of interlocking harmonies, I determined to make things clearer, for myself, and other players. The low notes all correspond to Rachmaninoff's bassline, except for one passage near the end. Only TWO octave doublings have been removed to make a smaller leap from the former lower grand staff to the upper. When I was a young student, this sort of music was baffling to my eyes, but not my ears. Now we can all see it and play it for what it is, an early masterwork, based on S.R.'s training in harmony from the Moscow Conservatory. A note can be the root, 3rd, 5th, 7th, and even 9th of some chord. They are all on display here, with a nice summation at the end, in quietude. MBB.

Instrumental Duet Harpsichord,Instrumental Duet,Piano - Level 3 - Digital Download SKU: A0.958468 Composed by Joseph Dillon Ford. 20th Century. Score and parts. 3 pages. David Warin Solomons2 #3691563. Published by David Warin Solomons2 (A0.958468). The Fuga a tre voci was composed on 28 March 1976 not long before I moved from Miami to Cambridge to begin graduate study in music at Harvard. It remained an imperfect sketch in need of extensive revisions, and languished for a quarter-century in a manila file folder until I rediscovered it late in 2001 and was pleased to find that it was worth the trouble of resurrecting. This was no easy task, as it was my original intention to comply closely with eighteenth-century contrapuntal practices. Although I had written numerous polyphonic pieces in a similar style since 1976, none of these was a fugue. There was also the challenge of reconnecting with musical ideas I had originated at the age of twenty-four at a time in my life when I was rapidly approaching the age of fifty. Still, I persevered in my efforts to revive and improve this early polyphonic essay, and hope the performer and listener will be as pleased with the results as I am. This three-voice fugue can be performed by any instrument or combination of instruments, including the harpsichord.
