Here is George Gershwin's version of I'm Forever Blowing Bubbles, which I arranged based on a Gershwin piano roll from the early 20th century. It was held in a private collection for decades. Here for the first time is my sheet music arrangement for this classic from long ago. Before he was famous, George was what was known as a song plugger. He would play newly composed songs to help generate record sales. In the early 20th century, many homes had player pianos. George's performance was preserved on such a roll and is only now available to the general public.Composed in 1918 by John W. Collette. The phrase “blowing bubbles” symbolizes the act of chasing dreams, hopes, and aspirations. Just like soap bubbles that float away and disappear, dreams can be elusive, fleeting, and transient. Most of the mistakes I made in life were between the ages of 12-16 years. Somehow I felt that I was smarter than I was. I thought that my friends were smarter than they were. I felt invincible. I made many foolish mistakes during those years. About that time, my family was preparing to move from Oregon to Utah. I remember my mother talking with me and saying that I could start over again. We would be in a new place with new people. No one would know me. I could be the person I truly wanted to be. I thought about this a lot, and when we finally made the move I had decided what kind of person I really wanted to be. In fact, I felt bad for being the wrong kind of person and hurting other people physically and spiritually. I eventually felt so bad about my mistakes that I decided that I would write or call the people I had hurt and apologize to them. Over the period of a year I was able to find, call and apologize to each of them. To my great surprise none of them were still angry with me. I was forgiven. That was a great feeling. This day will be forever what you choose. Once you leave this life you won't be able to return and right any wrongs that you have committed. So when you make a mistake, choose to make it right today so that this day, this day of good choosing will be what will last forever. Never let yourself do something that you know inside is wrong. If your friends are trying to talk you into doing something you know is wrong, don't just sit there and listen to them. Get up and leave the room, or the party, or the situation. Be true. Be the one. Be the son or daughter of God. Do what He would do.

There I discovered composers like Agustin Lara, Jose Alfredo Jimenez, Antonio Carlos Jobim, and Astor Piazzolla. Despite not speaking Spanish fluently, I'm captivated by the language's musicality.This passion inspired me to compose Latin-style songs in the early 1990s, culminating in my album “FOREVER AMOR,” and later recording the music in 2016 for Piano, Violin and Bass. ENCHANTING DARKNESS is a captivating rhumba with a moderate tempo, featuring three distinct themes. The initial theme oscillates between half-step harmonies of F and G-flat, evoking an eerie atmosphere. Transitioning into the second theme of A minor, a sense of suspense permeates the music. Finally, the third theme reverts to the major key of F, exuding a serene and resolved ambiance. Throughout, ENCHANTING DARKNESS employs quarter-note triplets in its melody, set against a steady Latin beat. Like many tracks on the album, it hints at the possibility of narrating a love tale through the evocative use of imaginary Spanish words.The piano sheet music for ENCHANTING DARKNESS is clearly notated, featuring detailed instructions on dynamics, articulation, phrasing, pedal usage, chord symbols, suggested fingerings, and relevant musical terminology.While the mp3 sample includes violin and bass, the sheet music is for solo piano, suitable for intermediate to advanced players and instructors. A minimalist piano piece inspired by a roadtrip across the Nullabor, the stretch of road between Adelaide and Perth in Australia.After an interrupted start, it expands into a molto perpetuo that depicts the continuous movement as you drive across this large continent. It expands, and changes in style, yet there is familiarity through the sections. It then cuts - almost abruptly - into a slower, reflective space. Driving across for the first time, there is a sense of awe that comes at certain parts, as you reflect on what you are doing. But that reflection can't last forever, and it transitions back into the molto perpetuo once again. The piece closes with more reflection, remembering the incredible journey. This piece would be excellent for a recital or performance. Written in 2008, Miscellany, 7 short movements for solo piano, was Commissioned by conductor/pianist Anthony Davie.Duration: approx 15 minutes in total.Inspired by friends, family and general life experiences, this set of short pieces encompasses a range of moods; from Romantic and melodic to comical and dissonant.Movement 1. Didi – Didi was a very unique and special friend for many years. She gave out great spiritual strength and insight into this very confusing world in which we all live. She was a real tower of quiet, gentle strength.Movement 2. Brew! – This movement was inspired directly by the Brewing Industry. It strives to depict the hustle and bustle of a busy, working brewery and the the many hilarious, fabulous people I met during my three years in the beer-making industry.Movement 3 – Convent Cherub – This little piece began life as the opening title music of a film score I worked on while at college. The film itself, entitled My Brother Rob, was made by Alison Hilder, a student director at the Harrow School of Film. The story told of a young boy traumatised by a convent boarding school up-bringing. I have felt for many years that this little main theme has needed an alternative home, as much film music is never played again.Movement 4 – Megan – This movement comes directly from my wonderful and beautiful daughter, who was 5 years old at the time of the writing of this piece. It seeks to express her wild vibrance, eternal cheekiness, infinite energy, sparkle and the utter fearlessness of youth.Movement 5 – Edward – This music is for my gorgeous little son, who has Down’s Syndrome, and was only 3 at the time of the writing of this piece. The opening came to me moments after the doctor had confirmed Edward had Down’s, when he was only 6 hours old. The music tries to convey the fear of the unknown, huge unconditional love and moments of uncertainty alternated by washes of strength. And yet, all through the fear the resolve to forever love and stay strong always wins.Movement 6 – Indifference – The opening 4 notes are the core of this movement, and the piece is built around and from them. This music is an observation of deep, rumbling frustration at the indifference growing in our fast moving, modern society.Movement 7 – “Wee Us†– This movement expresses family triumph, the gifts of life and love, and the glory of boundless, wild, youthful energy. This tune has not yet run its course. It will be back!

The Italian title Torniamo dentro has a double meaning: the easy one (for instance: Let's go back inside and have some dinner) and the allegorical (Let's go back inside and look at our souls again). In any case, the atmosphere is poetic, mysterious, delicate, hovering, levitating. The piece could go on sounding forever, it doesn't need to stop.
