Piano Solo - Level 2 - Digital Download SKU: A0.1160855 Composed by Nick Norton. Chamber,Classical,Contemporary,New Age. Score. 11 pages. Bathysphere Music #761167. Published by Bathysphere Music (A0.1160855). The four calm interludes (should that be capitalized?) are Four One, On Nothing, About Sixths, and On Sol. They are intended as simple, meditative pieces, perhaps good for student pianists to attempt. In spring of 2020, as the COVID-19 pandemic took hold, I suffered a massive manic episode followed by a debilitating depression that lasted over a year. During this time I found my relationship with music fraught—I could not compose, and could barely even listen to music for enjoyment, relaxation, or whatever other reasons people listen to music. It was terrifying, thinking my life’s work was over. The shift to being unable to compose or listen, however, was a gradual, like the shift from mania to depression. I found my listening habits following what seemed like a massive ritardando, as they moved away from the upbeat music I was used to toward more and more ambient, very slow music. Hiroshi Yoshimura’s album Music For Nine Postcards was on repeat for a long while before the total break. Its calm repetitions must have influenced what I was doing, because I sometimes found myself at the piano playing the same note or chord over and over again, just listening to the details in the resonance. Out of this came the first of these four pieces, On Nothing.Eight months later I found myself doing it again, the result of which is Four One. Another eight months went by before About Sixths, and then, as my recovery became more and more apparent, only two months passed until On Sol. I am grateful to say I am now composing every day again, though my music has, without conscious intention, taken on a far more introspective feel than ever before.I have not given the pieces numbers, because I don’t mind if they are played in a different order, alone, or—as the title suggests—as interludes between other pieces. I do like the printed order though.

Piano Solo - Level 4 - Digital Download SKU: A0.1352800 Composed by John Burkett. Arranged by John Burkett. Classical,Sacred. Score. 11 pages. John Burkett #937604. Published by John Burkett (A0.1352800). My Variations on the hymn tune Gordon (My Jesus, I Love Thee) are intended for church pianists looking for interesting arrangements of hymns familiar to their congregations. The four variations in this set display increasing rhythmic complexity as one plays them from beginning to end, ranging from continuous streams of eighth notes to eighth-note triplets to sixteenths. The first, and simplest, variation can be played alone. Variations 2-4 are written as a continuous group, though they too can be played individually if desired, by adding a conclusive tonic note in the bass. For the most part the pitches of the hymn tune are presented without ornamentation, though there are occasional exceptions. I have provided a full-length recording to aid the prospective buyer in the decision-making process. I encourage you to search the Sheet Music Plus or the Sheet Music Direct website for other hymn arrangements of mine, some for organ and others for piano.

Piano Solo - Level 4 - Digital Download SKU: A0.912491 Composed by Thomas R. Schadl. Concert,Contemporary,Instructional,Standards. Score. 4 pages. Thomas R. Schadl #3569713. Published by Thomas R. Schadl (A0.912491). Passacaglia On EGD For Piano follows the dance style that exists in a triple time. The feature in the theme consists of notes that start in a forward direction, followed by its retrograde direction. Here is how the theme is organized. The first four bars contains EGDC#EBF#A. The notes of the next four bars are arranged this way: AF#BEC#DGE.To perform this work, one may apply the damper pedal for each note of the theme from bars 1-8. Apply the damper pedal for each quarter-note beat from bars 9 to 48. From measures 49-72, the pedal may not be used to allow clarity of the theme; however, the pedal may be used from bars 73 to the end of the piece.Structure of the six-note row:E G D D# G# FC# E B C F D F# A E F A# GF G# D# E A F#C D# A# B E C#D# F# C# D G E E to E diagonal row F to D# diagonal rowX0 E Y0 FX1 C# G Y1 G# DX2 F# E D Y2 D# F GX3 F A B D# Y3 D C A# F#X4 C G# E C G# Y4 G B F A C#X5 D# D# D# F F F Y5 E E E E E EX6 F# A# E A# D Y6 C# A D# B GX7 C# B A G Y7 F# G# A# DX8 D E F# Y8 F# D# C#X9 G C# Y9 C F#X10 E Y10 D#The purpose of writing this piece, based on EGD, is to show how a simple motive is expanded by applying various compositional techniques.

Piano Solo - Level 3 - Digital Download SKU: A0.1011289 Composed by Ho Jie Rong. Contemporary,Standards. Score. 13 pages. Ho Jie Rong #5794097. Published by Ho Jie Rong (A0.1011289). I am a Singaporean pianist and composer. I have studied the piano since 5 years old under Mr Joseph Toh and I graduated from LASALLE College of the Arts with a Diploma in Music in 2013, majoring in Music Composition under Malaysian composer Mr Chong Kee Yong and Singaporean composer Mrs Joyce Koh Bee Tuan. About Six Preludes I started composing this set of Six Preludes for piano in 2014 and revised in 2020. The first piece of this set is Walking. There are different types of walks one can imagine. Octaves in the left hand at the opening represents walking sluggishly, whilst the middle section’s running right hand and jokingly bass notes representing a quick stroll. The Adagio recititavo part represents tip-toeing and finally the quasi cadenza part represents a trip on the floor, ouch! The second piece, which is nicknamed Joke, is a parody of Chopin’s Scherzo no. 1 in B minor, Op. 20. Take this piece as a lame unfunny joke, as in the slow coda, which is a sigh after listening to this joke. Night Song, as the name says, means a piece to be played at night, most commonly associate with pieces like Nocturnes, Barcarolles etc. The fourth piece, Chopin, is a homage to Chopin. I chose his Prelude in G and B flat minor, Op. 28 no. 3 and no. 16 respectively as sources of inspirations. Vision is a poly-tonality piece. Sometimes what we think or see, may not always end up the way it is. Hence, I hope to create this double effect by using the keys at the same time. The final piece of this set is a Fughetta. A fughetta is a small fugue. This piece is actually a piano transcription of the 3rd movement of my Three Colours (for Clarinet in B flat, Violin and Cello) which is composed and premiered in 2012. I revised and edited some sections. This is a 12-tone work. The P0 and R0 makes up the subject of this piece, while R11 makes up the countersubject. Six Preludes is dedicated to my friend Ng Yu Fei.

Piano Solo - Level 3 - Digital Download SKU: A0.1255702 By Giorgio Costantini. By Giorgio Costantini. 21st Century,Classical,Contemporary,New Age. Score. 4 pages. Giorgio Costantini #849210. Published by Giorgio Costantini (A0.1255702). Life is a neo-classical piano piece composed by Giorgio Costantini in memory of a departed friend. It emotionally portrays three vital states, from ecstasy to exaltation, in a recursive structure that represents the cycles of life.Technically, it is divided into five sections with varying levels of difficulty. In particular, the fourth section features a polyrhythmic interlocking of four parts (bass and main theme with the left hand, and an arpeggio with the right hand where the fourth and fifth fingers emphasize the melody). The ideal piano for performance should have a good resonance on the pedal, especially for the execution of the slow sections at the beginning and end.The composition is available on Spotify (https://open.spotify.com/track/08qaMSp1nJs7WXAMeNqLxG) and all major streaming platforms.Purchasing the sheet music is a valuable way to support the project. Giorgio Costantini, originally from Venice, is a musician and composer with a prolific career, having performed thousands of concerts worldwide. With extensive experience in live performances and studio work, he has collaborated with numerous successful artists and contributed to over 30 albums, earning more than 24 gold records in Italy. His compositions have been featured in commercials, television programs, and films, and his project PianoPianoForte has achieved over six million streams on Spotify.

Piano Solo - Level 3 - Digital Download SKU: A0.835771 Composed by Paul Burnell. Contemporary. Score. 21 pages. Paul Burnell #3110459. Published by Paul Burnell (A0.835771). Subside (from choleric to phlegmatic and back again) Composed 2004 Duration 6:00 approx. For ensemble and percussion This work was written in February 2004 in response to a call for pieces on the theme of 'The Four Temperaments'. This was part of CoMA’s Open Score project, made possible with funds from the Esmée Fairbairn and PRS Foundations. Programme note:'Subside' outlines a slow mood change from controlled violent anger to tenderness, then a sudden flip back to anger again. Technical notes: Percussion is essential, with the choice of instruments left to the discretion of the player(s), using the directions in the one-page score as a guide. The percussionists play on the 2nd and 4th beats throughout the piece - accenting the 4th beat. Other instrumentalists are divided between Parts 1 - 4. Parts are available in numerous transpositions - though it should be possible for instruments in C to read from the score. The dynamic markings in the score apply to all the parts. The size of the ensemble is not indicated, but ideally there should be enough players to allow for a reduction in the number of people playing two bars before letter D, and a further reduction to solo instruments six bars before letter E. However, this guidance can be ignored and the piece played by quite a small group; for example - violin, piano and percussion, or organ and percussion. If flutes and violins play Part 1 - the flutes may play an octave higher than written until letter A, and the violins may play tremolando until letter A. Keyboard players can play combinations of all parts. In addition, or alternatively, the keyboard players may double parts 3 and 4 an octave lower than written where indicated by the horizontal brackets, for example in the third and fourth bars. The allocation of instruments to the parts is left to the discretion of the musical director / performers - but should take account of the dynamic markings and expression indications. The last 2 bars of the piece are played 5 times in total.

Piano Solo - Level 4 - Digital Download SKU: A0.1025227 Composed by Thomas C. Baggaley. 20th Century,Contemporary. Score. 27 pages. Quest Haven Publishing #4600795. Published by Quest Haven Publishing (A0.1025227). Images of Family is a collection of six pieces for solo piano inspired by the scenes from the passage through an individual's life and the different roles they play as members of a family. The first movement, Toddler, begins with a single repeated note to simulate the ticking of a clock. As any parent of a toddler knows, when things are that quiet, it's time to go find out what that toddler is up to. The second movement, Dandelion Bouquet, celebrates the precious, intimate moments spent with a young child, representing a small bouquet of dandelions carefully picked and presented to the child's mother. The third movement, Loading the Car, portrays the chaos of a larger family trying to leave on a family vacation. Fourth is Newlywed, a celebration of the optimism and beauty seen through a newly married couple's eyes. The fifth movement, Afternoon in Grandpa's Meadow, looks at life through the eyes of the more experienced generation. And finally, the sixth movement, Journey Home, portrays the final moments of life, the goodbyes to family members on this side of death's door, and the joyous reunion with other family members who have already passed on from this life and await eagerly on the other side. A more detailed description is included in the work's program notes.Difficulty: The difficulty varies from movement to movement. (Movements may be performed separately if desired.) The most difficult movements will provide a nice challenge for intermediate and advanced students.Total Duration: 15 minutesThe composer (Thomas C. Published by Juan Maria Solare (A0.1335536). Hommage to Ursula is a piano piece in memory of Ursula Görsch (1932-2023). The piece is based on the six sounding letters of her last name (GERSCH, where the O is omitted, the R represents RE - the D note in Spanish, Italian, or Turkish - and the S represents the E flat, 'Es' in German), as well as on the remaining six notes of the total chromatic scale (C#, F, F#, Ab, A, B). Both Pitch Class Sets are identical from an intervallic perspective - transposed by a tritone. Such coincidences confirm to me that I am on the right path, at least musically. The reference to Turkey is not coincidental, as Ursula taught in Istanbul for many years. The initial texture of the piece - a kind of toccata with many repeated notes - is a purely musical homage to Ursula: she used this texture in some passages of her compositions. Besides that, this piece contains no direct quotation from Ursula's music. The work Hommage an Ursula is based on a series of 12 notes. The original version (Prime) and the inverted version (Inversed) alternate. From these 24 versions of the series, 24 sections result. I add a final section based on the original series ('Das Ende im Anfange'*); thus, there are 25 sections. To order the 5 motivic elements, I generate a Latin square. The 5 elements do not rotate, but, in each of the 5 main sections, the initial motive is always the same (A), and the order of the other four (BCDE) changes, permutating according to the following Latin square:A BCDEA CEBDA DBECA EDCBA BCDEThis work can then be considered as a derivation of the 'theme and variations' structure, with the peculiarity that there are five sub-themes that are rearranged in each of the variations. This piece lasts about 11 minutes. The premiere, performed by the composer (that is, by myself), took place on November 26, 2023, at the Konzertsaal of the Hochschule für Künste in Bremen, during the concert 'Gedenkkonzert Ursula Görsch und Harald Kruse', as part of the 73rd Hausmusikwoche, organized by the DTKV (German Association of Sound Artists) in cooperation with the ABK (Circle of Composers in Bremen). This is not an easy piece to listen to. It is absolutely consistent but perhaps monotonous. During the premiere, the yawns of someone in the audience prompted me to briefly interrupt the performance to inform them that the end was near. After the concert, one of the organizers suggested to me that the piece was too 'anstrengend' (demanding, exhausting). It is up to the gentle pianists to risk experiencing the same as me.* 'Das Ende im Anfange' reads the legend that can be read in the circle of tonalities reproduced by Johann Friedrich Michael Wiedeburg in his treatise Der sich selbst informirende Clavierspieler (Leipzig and Halle, 1765-1775, Verlag der Buchhandlung des Waisenhauses).Juan MarÃa SolareBremen, September & December 2023.

Piano Solo - Level 3 - Digital Download SKU: A0.1089752 Composed by Robert A. Howard. 21st Century,Classical,Contemporary,Contest,Festival,Instructional. Score. 21 pages. Robert A. Howard #693959. Published by Robert A. Howard (A0.1089752). This is the complete set of Sketches I-VII, that each elaborate upon ideas previously left dormant in sketch form. The first piece has a slow introductory feel, with a rising added-note chord sequence alongside a descending bass line, in crescendo. The second piece is based on a 7-bar ground bass (rising a minor third each time), that features considerable textural variation on each cycle, and culminates in a 3-part canon. The third piece explores the whole range of the piano in varied statements of a 10-bar semiquaver toccata theme, featuring canons and a superimposed scotch-snap theme. The fourth piece is cumulative, in four sections, and gradually descends in pitch by alternating hands in a minimalist build up of motifs, each followed by a chordal refrain. The fifth piece gradually builds up a right hand melody over various syncopated harmonies and appoggiaturas, before inverting the role of the hands. The sixth piece is a simple cycle of ascending repetitions of a 10-bar added-note chord sequence, with octave bass line, that rise by a perfect fifth each time. The seventh piece is a varied repetition of the opening movement (thus framing the cycle), with the initial chord sequence now arpeggiated, and with a fuller texture. The cycle is highly accessible and is appropriate for most standards of pianist, including students and more advanced players. Individual pieces from this Sketch cycle are also available separately, via Sheet Music Plus. Duration: 18 minutes.Registered with PRS (Performing Rights Society, UK).Composer's website: www.roberthowardmusic.co.uk

This arrangement of The Last Time I Saw Paris is written as played by piano artist, Liberace. It contains an introduction, by Liberace, using parts of the French song, Clair De Lune by Claude Debussy. The Last Time I Saw Paris is a song composed by Jerome Kern, with lyrics by Oscar Hammerstein II, published in 1940. It was sung in the 1941 film Lady Be Good by Ann Sothern.By December 1940, six versions of the song were on the charts, with Kate Smith having exclusive radio rights for the song for six weeks. The song catered to a wartime nostalgia for songs about European cities following the Second World War Battle of France (which brought Paris under Nazi control), with A Nightingale Sang in Berkeley Square also proving popular. The song won the Academy Award for Best Original Song in 1941. This was Kern's second Academy Award for Best Original Song (following his success with The Way You Look Tonight in 1936), and Hammerstein's first. Władziu Valentino Liberace(May 16, 1919 – February 4, 1987) was an American pianist, singer, and actor. A child prodigy born in Wisconsin to parents of Italian and Polish origin, he enjoyed a career spanning four decades of concerts, recordings, television, motion pictures, and endorsements. Piano Solo - Level 5 - Digital Download SKU: A0.987083 Composed by Eric Paul Nolte and Felix Le Couppey. Arranged by Eric Paul Nolte. Contemporary,Instructional. Score. 5 pages. Eric Paul Nolte #1954995. Published by Eric Paul Nolte (A0.987083). This piece is a free adaptation and a complete reworking of a study by Felix Le Couppey (1811-1887), from his L'Agilité, Opus 20, 25 Progressive Studies for Mechanism and Light Touch. In its original form, this study was a charming little piece of musical fluff. But getting it up to speed reduced me to tears! It also gave me an epiphany of immense power that transformed my technique. Suddenly I could play faster than I had ever thought possible, and I could do so with a thrilling ease! This epiphany emerged from the spluttering frustration I felt over my inability to play these sixteenth notes at Le Couppey's metronome marking of 144. It dawned on me that I couldn’t play fast enough because I was tripping over my own fingers when I used the overly articulated technique of moving the fingers by the lift, throw, relax method. This superfluous motion creates an impenetrable barrier, a speed wall, as does playing legato scales by passing the thumb under the palm, when shifting hand position up and down the keyboard. So I found another way-which I’ve since learned was known to every pianist who ever achieved prodigious speed. Here’s how to bring this piece up to speed with ease: Be sure to practice this piece with each hand alone. For each group of sixteenth notes, gently place the four fingers down simultaneously, to get the feel. Think of your arm, from elbow to fingertips, as something like a kitchen utensil, such as a spatula. Moving your right arm as a unit, place your finger tips down into the key bed, depressing all four notes at once, as a block chord. Make sure that all the fingers remain stiff (not rigid with tension, but just stiff enough to resist collapsing upwards.) Slowly lift and then play each group by placing all the fingers down with a rotation of your forearm, calm and relaxed, with the fingers rolling through the notes at the speed of a brief snare drum roll: Rrrrip! To rip through this group of notes like this takes no more effort than to place those four fingers down, calmly, all at once! Then, with a quick shift up or down the keyboard to get into position for the next group, that’s the whole trick for playing such passages with astonishing speed and ease! It takes time and effort to get the knack here, but the result can be transformative and thrilling! As for my adaptation of this study, I believe it offers intermediate advanced players the chance to enjoy a great leap in technique like the one I experienced, and also offers a piece of music that one might not blush to play outside the practice room-perhaps bringing it at least into the living room for a soirée, if not into the concert hall. To make this adaptation, I wrote a grumbly bass line with lungs, and nice fat chords to flesh out most of the skinny little triads that accompany the original study’s fast passages. I added a brooding, chromatic introduction that features as a melody the accompanimental figure of a broken triad that Le Couppey wrote a few times on the second page, in various inversions. I employed this broken chord figure several more times in both hands, and also added a little coda, sprinkled with sparkle. Playing time is about 1 minute and 30 seconds.

Four of these six preludes have been recorded on CD and samples of them can be heard here:http://www.capstonerecords.org/CPS-8765.htmlThese imaginative pieces are quasi-poetic musings that develop various colors, moods and atmospheres. They are called time preludes because each one focuses on a different way of handling the progress of musical time. For example, some contrast different lengths of note groupings while maintaining a consistent tempo, while others rely on changing tempos, on the use of accelerating and decelerating figures, or on the use of much rubato. The result is that they flow naturally, without the rigidity or predictability of traditional meters, while their imagery inspires pianists and audience members to let their imaginations roam.

Published by Airbox Music Publishing (A0.1087118). “The 2009 album Numbers, Colors And People (recorded in one day at Philip Glass’s studio) is all instrumental piano with a soft-pedal style that would become Shapiro’s trademark. The album’s standout track Mint Green would go on to define Shapiro's early career. This six-minute jewel in its nature is furtive, an arcing, pacey piano solo which rises and falls delicately, its melody slowly emerging from a Debussy-like haze of almost-hesitancy. No matter how many times it’s heard you have to return to its cascading style. Mint Green’s astonishing success on the Internet (over 14 million plays on Pandora Internet Radio) and as a regular soundtrack on American television belies its origins. In fact, Mint Green was directly inspired by the Cocteau Twins’s track My Truth from their 1993 album Four-Calendar CafeÌ.†—Mark Prendergast, author, The Ambient Century.

Some of the pieces are solo piano and others feature duets with Mitch Iimori on English horn, oboe, and guitar (but not all at the same time!). The two musicians are obviously exceptionally comfortable and in tune with each other, and the results can be stunning. Very classical in scope and structure, the music is reflective of the natural surroundings of Ms Stevens’ home in the Colombia Gorge region of northern Oregon. The first eight of the fourteen tracks make up the Seasons Suite, a group of lyrical compositions inspired by the various times of year in a remote area of eastern Oregon. The other six pieces also have themes of nature and serenity. The Seasons Suite begins with Colors Change, obviously about the transition of summer into fall, but also about the concept of change as we grow. Reflective and subdued, the interplay between Stevens’ piano and Iimori’s oboe is effortless and flowing. Autumn Wind picks up the pace a bit, but continues the easy flow, bringing images of leaves swirling in the ceaseless wind of that area. Signs of Winter is a bit darker and more mysterious. Iimori is a big fan of Paul McCandless, and that musician’s influence is very strongly heard in these first three pieces - a very good thing! In Clouds, Iimori switches from oboe to English horn. This duet with the piano is a dramatic musical depiction of the gathering clouds and anticipation of a coming thunder storm. I really like it a lot! Snow is tranquility set to music. Sparrow’s Song brings us to the beginnings of spring - the freshness in the air, and the joyful songs of birds in the yard. July reflects the laziness of a hot summer day. Season’s Reprise brings together the themes from the various seasons, creating a lovely closing to the Suite. On Summit, Iimori trades his woodwinds for guitar in a gentle, sweeping duet with the piano. Waning Star is a gorgeous piano solo that has a peaceful grace and quiet serenity - a favorite. Reach For the Stars is a piano solo that has an uplifting sense of moving forward and reaching out. Dawn closes the CD with a warm and soothing confection. The piano is accompanied by light percussion, bass, and washes of synth strings. Full of hope and optimism without being sugarcoated, this piece is spellbinding in its gentle way.

For the first time; here is the Liberace version of this famous sixties classic song; arranged for piano solo! A Taste of Honey is a pop standard written by Bobby Scott and Ric Marlow. It was originally an instrumental track (or recurring theme) written for the 1960 Broadway version of the 1958 British play A Taste of Honey (which was also made into the film of the same name in 1961). Both the original and a later recording by Herb Alpert in 1965 earned the song four Grammy Awards. Barbra Streisand performed the song as part of her cabaret act during 1962, and recorded it in January 1963 for her debut album The Barbra Streisand Album, on Columbia, which won a Grammy for Album of the Year (1963). The Beatles performed Lenny Welch's adaptation as part of their repertoire in 1962, slightly changing the lyrics in the chorus. Because the instrumental version by Acker Bilk was popular in the United Kingdom at the time, the song was chosen to be recorded for their 1963 debut album, Please Please Me. A version from that time was released in 1977 on the album Live! at the Star-Club in Hamburg, Germany; 1962. In the US, this song first appeared on the Vee-Jay Records album Introducing... The Beatles. They also performed A Taste of Honey seven times for BBC radio shows.<.p> Władziu Valentino Liberace (May 16, 1919 – February 4, 1987) was an American pianist, singer, and actor. Piano - intermediate to advanced - Digital Download SKU: S9.Q588033 To the concerto for piano and orchestra in G Major Hob. XVIII:4. Composed by Franz Joseph Haydn and Nino Rota. Cadenza. Downloadable. Op. 3. Duration 2 minutes. Schott Music - Digital #Q588033. Published by Schott Music - Digital (S9.Q588033). Key: G major.Improvised and also composed solo cadenzas, normally occuring towards the end of a bravura aria or an instrumental concerto movement, have existed since the late 16th century. They provide the performer with an opportunity for self-presentation in the form of a free style of playing or singing, based on themes and motifs from previous sections of the movement. Solo cadenzas are for the most part introduced by a six-four chord held by the orchestra; the soloist begins a protracting interpolation in free stlye, subsequently culminating on the dominant chord, usually with a trill. Whereas originally composers left solo cadenzas to be freely improvised, from the middle of the 19th century onwards they were frequently specifically written out. The increasing abuse of cadenzas as a mere display of free virtuosity, ignoring the style and impetus of the composition, played a substantial factor in this development. Thus Beethoven gives the soloist no opportunity whatsoever for free improvisation in his 5th piano concerto in which the cadenza becomes an integral, obligatory component of the complete work. In this unique series Schott Music presents cadenzas created for well-known instrumental concertos from the Classical and Romantic periods by major composers and soloists of our time. Nino Rota dedicated the Kadenzen zum Klavierkonzert Nr. 4 in G-Dur (Cadenzas of the Concerto No. 4 for Piano and Orchestra in G major) Hob. XVIII:4 by Joseph Haydn to Arturo Benedetti Michelangeli (1920-1995), who recorded them for the label EMI.

Piano Solo - Level 4 - Digital Download SKU: A0.1022029 Composed by Fredrik Schwenk. Contemporary. Score. 33 pages. Fredrik Schwenk #6303801. Published by Fredrik Schwenk (A0.1022029). The present cycle of six bagatelles was created on the occasion of the final examination Master Piano by Hector Docx, who studied in my composition class at the Hochschule für Musik und Theater from 2017 to 2020. He had rehearsed Ludwig van Beethoven's Bagatelles, Op. 126, for the occasion and consulted composers to write new bagatelles to be performed along with Beethoven's last piano work. This is how the later fourth Bagatelle first came into being, which takes up the tempo as well as an essential element of Beethoven's material, and from this follows an approach that is consistent in form and content. After the successful premiere, the idea arose to build a six-part cycle from it, which is oriented to Beethoven's material throughout. The cycle can be performed either together and in alternation with or independently and without Beethoven's Bagatelles, whereby a performance of the third Bagatelle without Beethoven makes little sense. The premiere of all the Bagatelles in conjunction with Beethoven's Bagatelles took place on September 26, 2020 at the Tonali Hall in Hamburg. Hector Docx played.

Instrumental Solo,Piano - Level 3 - Digital Download SKU: A0.1228118 Composed by Various and compiled by Michael Praetorius (1612). Arranged by Colin Kirkpatrick. Instructional,Renaissance. Score and individual part. 17 pages. Colin Kirkpatrick Publications #824216. Published by Colin Kirkpatrick Publications (A0.1228118). Dances from Terpsichore (Michael Praetorius)These are eleven of the most well-known dances of the Renaissance, selected from the famous collection entitled Terpsichore, pubished in 1612 by Michael Praetorius. They are sure to be a welcome addition to the recorder player's repertoire. The notes of the recorder part have been kept well within the intermediate range.By the time Michael Praetorius published his dance collection, he was one of the most famous musicians in Germany. The name is pronounced “terp-SI-cory†and rhymes with the word “hickoryâ€. The original publication consisted of 312 dances in four, five and six parts. Although the dances were probably conceived for string ensemble Praetorius was well aware that in practice, they would be played by any instruments that happened to be available. These arrangements for recorder (or recorders) and keyboard are based on the original 1612 publication. The music sounds more authentic using a harpsichord rather than a piano, or the harpsichord sound of a digital keyboard. The keyboard part may be interpreted quite freely with ornamentation added as appropriate. During the Renaissance, it was common practice to combine separate dances to create something of more substantial duration. A similar practice is used in these arrangements which are as follows: 1. Three Gavottes; 2. Two Ballets; 3. Two Bourées; 4. Two Courantes and 5. Two Voltas. The audio sample contains numbers 1, 2, 3 and 5.
