Published by Lagos Music (A0.1256758). It's kind of cool that I've finished an entire four-movement sonata! It's also kind of cool how people can watch my progress as I improve as a composer over time. I hope you enjoy this one. I think this is my best work so far, but I'm curious what others think! Inspiration for this piece came from the Rondo in Mozart's Concerto in E Flat for two pianos and his Finale in Symphony 40 (which I think is a Rondo as well), and all the Bach harpsichord concertos. Why is the cadenza in the style of a Bolero, I hear you ask? Well, it's hinting at a future work. With this Sonata, I set the intention of four movements: sonata-allegro, minuet/trio, funeral march, rondo. For the next work, the intention is a Latin Suite which will consist of a romance, tango, and milonga. That may change, but that's my idea so far and I didn't want to forget that theme...so I put it in the cadenza of this sonata! I will record a more live version of the full sonata on one of the University Of Victoria's Steinways soon. My dream is to write for orchestra, but for now I'll be using piano works as practice and maybe, just maybe, one day I'll find a way to compose for orchestra. I used to want to write for film but I'm now realizing I may want to write for the classical world, instead. This would be an absolute dream come true. Thank you, Gabe.

His work has made an impact outside Brazil, particularly in the USA and England, with lectures, interviews, concerts and musical publications. He is one of the most active and most widely performed composers in Brazilian contemporary music. His work has been widely disseminated by groups such as Quarteto Radamés Gnattali, Duo Santoro, Música Nova, GNU, Quarteto Colonial, and many others.In England his performers included two of the leading British musicians: baroque flutist Stephen Preston and recorderist John Turner. The St Matthew Passion (German: Matthäus-Passion), BWV 244, is a Passion, a sacred oratorio written by Johann Sebastian Bach in 1727 for solo voices, double choir and double orchestra, with libretto by Picander. It sets chapters 26 and 27 of the Gospel of Matthew (in the Luther Bible) to music, with interspersed chorales and arias. It is widely regarded as one of the masterpieces of classical sacred music. The original Latin title Passio Domini nostri J.C. secundum Evangelistam Matthæum translates to The Passion of our Lord Jesus Christ according to the Evangelist Matthew Originally for alto voice, violin solo and string orchestra. The arias are in da capo format (ternary form). Erbarme dich, for alto, and Mache dich, mein Herze, rein, for bass, are examples of such arias in Part Two of the oratorio. In these movements the singers are accompanied by one or a few solo instruments and continuo, occasionally completed by other instrument groups of the orchestra. Chiquinha Gonzaga's first composition, in 1877, born out of improvisation in a choro circle at the home of composer Henrique Alves de Mesquita, the polka received the name Atraente (attractive) for dragging the instruments present. It was a resounding success (15 editions in 1877) and projected the name of Chiquinha Gonzaga to fame - at first uncomfortable - in the patriarchal society of the Second Reign. The sudden popularity of the author was seen as a provocation by her family, who began to destroy the sheet music sold on the streets by slave boys. It became a classic of Brazilian instrumental music and became part of the great choro repertoire. It was published in 1932 as No. 11 of the 2nd series of Alma Brasileira, choros for flute. Atraente was recorded by musicians such as Antonio Adolfo, Altamiro Carrilho, Benedito Lacerda, Clara Sverner, Eudóxia de Barros, Henrique Cazes, Leandro Braga, Marcus Viana, Maria Teresa Madeira, Muraro, Paulo Moura, Pixinguinha, Rosária Gatti, Talitha Peres, TurÃbio Santos, in addition to orchestras and bands. At the end of the 1970s, HermÃnio Bello de Carvalho wrote the lyrics, in records made by Leci Brandão, OlÃvia Hime and Edison Cordeiro.

In 2011 the group released the CD String Quartets, with performances by the Quarteto Radamés Gnattali. Oliveira is also a member of the group of composers Vox Novus, based in New York.To commemorate 15 years of activity as a composer, Oliveira released a box set with 4 CDs, as well as a CD with composer Mark Hagerty, and produced the series QUINZE, with 13 concerts including his works, between July and October of 2012. More than 130 musicians, including 28 composers, participated of QUINZE (CDs and series).His discography includes 14 CDs as producer, 14 as composer, 22 as general producer, 2 as arranger and 2 as pianist. His catalog of compositions includes approximately 115 works for various ensembles, including Symphony Orchestra. Sergio Roberto de Oliveira is a member of the Latin Academy of the Arts and Science of Recording.He died from pancreatic cancer in 2017.
