Although it was originally known as a ‘Russian- Romani’ folksong, at the beginning of the Twentieth Century, it achieved a much wider international reputation when Italian-born British composer, Adalgiso Ferraris, published a new version in 1910. It was also later sung and recorded by Al Bowlly in 1939. It has also gained some currency as a jazz tune.

Moving from mysterious sounds that introduce us to a dark atmosphere in the first song, Black Friars, we are introduced in two bright pages that could be two tributes to the female universe: the first, Lady Roxana, with smooth, elegant and finally affectionate sounds ; the second, Sex Sade, which does not hide a paroxysmal and virtuosic pleasure in writing, thanks to the safe conduct of the night.
