Sonata in G Minor for Piano & Cello, Op. 65, Movement III - Largo.Chopin performed this Sonata on his final recital in 1848.The Largo from Chopin's Cello Sonata in G minor, Op. 65 is a significant work as it is one of only nine compositions by Chopin published during his lifetime for instruments other than the piano. The Sonata is remarkable for the concentration of its material, with much of the music in the first movement growing out of the opening statement and specific thematic shapes appearing in all its movements. The Largo, in particular, is known for its expressive and lyrical nature, showcasing Chopin's ability to write beautifully for a non-piano instrument. The original work was written in 2007 and is dedicated to Samuel Hernández, a clarinettist pursuing his Master's at the Royal Conservatoire of Scotland. The composer, who was also the pianist in their duo, wrote it during his musical training at the composition faculty of the same centre. The work reflects the composer's extensive work writing for Samuel and other performers from the woodwind faculty in between 2006 and 2009, embodying the spirit of collaboration and musical innovation.The piece was later revised and won First Prize at the II Agustín Ramos Chamber Music Composition Competition, leading to the programme of its premiere on January 27, 2018, at the Agustín Ramos Chamber Music Festival in La Candelaria (Tenerife, Spain).The Toccata showcases a lively interplay between clarinet and piano, featuring rhythmic vigor and expressive lyrical moments. Diego Marani #5982561. Published by Diego Marani (A0.528407). Chopin composed his best-known Nocturne in E-flat major, Op. 9, No. 2 when he was around twenty years old. This well-known nocturne is in rounded binary form (A, A, B, A, B, A) with coda, C. The A and B sections become increasingly ornamented with each recurrence. Nocturne in E-flat major opens with a legato melody, mostly played piano, containing graceful upward leaps which becomes increasingly wide as the line unfolds. This melody is heard again three times during the piece. With each repetition, it is varied by ever more elaborate decorative tones and trills.This arrangement for Alto Sax with Piano Accompaniment reflects faithfully the original.
