Charles Colin was born in Cherbourg, France on June 2, 1862.  He entered the Paris Conservatory  and won a First Prize in Oboe in 1852 and then studied composition, winning the Second First Grand Prix de Rome in 1857 (Bizet won the First Grand Prix the same year).  In 1868, he became the Professor of Oboe at the Paris Conservatory.  His series of eight Solos were written for the exams of his class.  He died on July 26, 1881 in Paris.

Published by David McKeown (A0.1090789). The Elite Syncopations was one of many solo piano rags written by Scott Joplin in the wake of his success with Maple Leaf Rag. Published in 1903, The Elite Syncopations followed the classic four part structure that Joplin had developed with earlier compositions. In 1974 the Royal Ballet in London produced a ballet based on ragtime music using The Elite Syncopations as both the title and main theme. This arrangement of The Elite Syncopations is arranged as a solo for one Soprano Saxophone with piano accompaniment. Both the piano and the separate solo part are included in the one downloadable pdf file. Musicians at an advanced intermediate level and above will find this ideal for formal and informal performances. The overall performance time, with repeats, is around five minutes. Published in 1901, It is considered to be one of Joplin’s finest and most adventurous works. Indeed the complex harmony made the first publisher so nervous that he only released a simplified version. The Easy Winners refers to elite athletes who featured on the original title page. This arrangement of The Easy Winners is arranged as a solo for one Soprano Saxophone with Piano accompaniment. Both the piano and the separate solo part are included in the one downloadable pdf file. Musicians at an intermediate level and above will find this ideal for formal and informal performances. Published by Phil Beaman (A0.845319). In 1897 the great Polish composer Zygmund Noskowski composed four characteristic pieces for piano, each piece evoking a different spring flower. This duet between an Instrumental Solo and piano is my arrangement of Rose from Fleurs du Printemps, Op 48 (Rose, from Flowers of Spring).It is expressive, portraying the beauty of the Rose. I have added considerable markings of articulation and dynamics and phrasing to bring out this expressiveness. I have also changed the tempos to create more emotional variety between the thematic sections and I wrote a new ending with an Instrumental cadenza. The solo instrument plays the various melodic themes while I created a new piano part based on the original chords. The melody contains many accidentals as is typical in the Romantic period. Accessible for the average player yet with enough markings and nuances to satisfy expert players with the results. Definitely a concert or audition piece to show musicianship. Also well suited for Wedding music.Solo range - nearly 2 octaves (14th)5 page score, 2 page part2:35 minutes

Here, the famous Waltz is arranged for Solo Soprano Saxophone and Piano, directly from the orchestral score. The first performance of the ballet was in St Petersburg in 1890. Like his other ballets, Sleeping Beauty was slow to gain popularity with the public and international recognition only came after Tchaikovsky’s death. Included in the single download are nine pages of piano score and an attached four-page part for the solo instrument. Musicians at an upper intermediate level and above will find this ideal for formal and informal performances. The melody is expressive and legato; the accompaniment is challenging in parts with a high tempo throughout. Both parts require dramatic dynamic contrasts and the solo part explores a wide range of the instrument. The overall performance time is around five minutes. Stylistically, the work seems to be more influenced by German Classical music (note especially the classical piano figurations in the opening aria, reminiscent of such composers as Beethoven and Weber). The Valse has an expressive variation in a minor key and the entire work ends, elegantly, pianissimo.One of the most enigmatic figures in the history of the Saxophone, Ali Ben Sou Alle (Charles-Valentin Soualle) was born in1820 in Arras, France. After receiving his first prize in Clarinet at the Paris Conservatory in 1844. he served as the director ofmusic of The French Marine Band in Senegal, and then was named first clarinet solo at the Opéra-Comique in Paris. However, after the Revolution of 1848, Soualle was forced to flee France to England where he settled in London, playing in the Orchestra of the Queen's Theatre. His songs and piano pieces were published in London.While in London, Soualle met another exiled French musician, Louis Antoine Jullien, who conducted a light music series inLondon. Jullien encouraged Soualle to take up the saxophone, and after modifying the instrument by adding a single octavemechanism (the modern system used today) and keys for the lower register, Soualle became known as a virtuoso and begantouring performing solo recitals (or mono-concerts, as they were called at the time) calling his modified saxophone the«turcophone ». She was a prolific composer with over 200 works credited to her name, most of which were sacred vocal works. In 1693, Leonarda published a collection of twelve sonatas, the Sonate à 1.2.3. e 4. Istromenti, becoming the first woman to publish instrumental sonatas. The collection contains eleven trio sonatas (for violins and continuo), and one solo sonata (for violin and continuo). Sonata Duodecima refers to the twelfth sonata from the collection, which is the one for solo violin and continuo.This arrangement is for soprano saxophone and piano.
