Piano,Soprano Saxophone - Level 3 - SKU: A0.1458249 Composed by Alan Menken and Tim Rice. Arranged by Harry Walker. Broadway,Film/TV,Musical/Show,Pop,Singer/Songwriter,Wedding. Score and part. 11 pages. SCORE EDITIONS #1037227. Published by SCORE EDITIONS (A0.1458249). A Whole New World is the signature song from Disney's 1992 animated feature film Aladdin, with music by Alan Menken and lyrics by Tim Rice. A duet originally recorded by singers Brad Kane and Lea Salonga in their respective roles as the singing voices of the main characters Aladdin and Jasmine, the ballad serves as both the film's love and theme song. Lyrically, A Whole New World describes Aladdin showing the confined princess a life of freedom and the pair's acknowledgment of their love for each other while riding on a magic carpet. In this version, the composition was arranged for Soprano Saxophone and Piano by Harry Walker.

Piano,Soprano Saxophone - Level 1 - SKU: A0.1182615 By Dirk Quinn Band. By Charles Borrelli and Roger Courtland. Arranged by Marcony Carvalho. 20th Century,March,Patriotic,Traditional. Score and part. 2 pages. Zedas Couve #782360. Published by Zedas Couve (A0.1182615). The Eagles' Victory Song was the creation of Charles Borrelli and Richard Courtland Harrison, a Washington, D.C. music teacher and arranger for jazz guitarist Charlie Byrd. The song was mistakenly credited to R. Courtland by the Copyright office and in various editions of Eagles programs from the late 1950s through the 1960s.In 1963, Jerry Wolman purchased the Philadelphia Eagles. Wolman was a sports fan growing up and loved hearing the Washington Redskins' fight song Hail to the Redskins at games. Spawning from his admiration for the Redskins' song, Wolman searched for musicians to implement a team song for the Eagles, and founded The Philadelphia Eagles' Sound of Brass band in 1964. The group included 200 musicians and dancers, and was led by Arlen Saylor, who was appointed as the Eagles' entertainment director in 1966 and is credited with penning an arrangement of the fight song that the band played at home games during halftime in the 1960s. Wolman's push to popularize the fight song flew under the radar, however, and in 1969 the Sound of Brass band was discontinued. The song came back into light in 1997, when Bobby Mansure, founder of an unofficial Eagles pep band, asked team management to allow the band to play in the parking lot during home games. Management gave Mansure's pep band an audition, allowing them to play at two preseason games to gauge fan reaction. The song went over so well that Mansure and the band retained a permanent position as the official Philadelphia Eagles Pep Band.In 1998, following Mansure's reintroduction of the song, Eagles management attempted to rebuild its popularity among fans by changing some aspects of the song: they modified the key, changed the opening lyric from Fight, Eagles Fight to Fly, Eagles Fly, and re-marketed the song with that as the title. In addition, they appended the popular E-A-G-L-E-S chant—which had emerged in the 1980s—to the end of the song. While management planned to play the song throughout the 1998 season, the Eagles' poor performance that year caused them to hold off reintroducing the song until the following year. The Eagles fared better during their 1999 season, and subsequently, the fight song was played after every score.

Published by jmsgu3 (A0.1077924). Score: 7 pages. Duration: 2:34Wichita Lineman is a 1968 song by the American singer-songwriter Jimmy Webb. The song has since been praised as one of the most influential and greatest recordings in popular music history. The song has been widely praised by critics, and has been called a masterpiece of American music. In 2004, it was ranked number 201 on Rolling Stone's list of The 500 Greatest Songs of All Time. The song has also been praised for its poetic lyrics, as well as its use of electric guitar and strings to create a unique sound. The song has been covered by numerous artists, including Glen Campbell, who recorded a version that reached the top of the US Billboard Hot Country Songs chart in 1968. The song has also been featured in numerous films and television shows, and has been referenced in popular culture. Wichita Lineman has been praised for its universal appeal, and its ability to connect with listeners.Wichita Lineman is a timeless classic that has become synonymous with loneliness. The song is about a telephone lineman who is alone in his work and in his life, looking out at the vast landscape in search of something he cannot find. The melancholy and longing of the song is evocative of the loneliness that many people feel, especially in a society that can often feel disconnected and isolated. Webb's lyrics and Campbell's vocals combine to create a song that is as beautiful as it is heartbreaking. It is a timeless song that captures the loneliness of many, and its enduring popularity over the years is a testament to its power.

Piano,Soprano Saxophone - Level 2 - SKU: A0.549121 Composed by Camille Saint-Saëns (1835 – 1921). Arranged by James M. Guthrie, ASCAP. Instructional,Romantic Period,Standards. Score and part. 9 pages. Jmsgu3 #3452273. Published by jmsgu3 (A0.549121). Saint-Saens: The Swan (Le Cygne) movement 13 from the Carnival of the Animals Suite. Duration: 2:50 Score: 5 pg, 28 ms. Solo part: 1 pg. Piano part: 3 pg. Performance: Level: Early intermediate and up. One of his most popular and widely recognized works, it is the only movement from the Carnival Suite that Saint-Saens permitted to be performed in public during his lifetime. This is an excellent recital encore choice to demonstrate melodic playing and strategic phrasing. The Carnival of the Animals The Carnival of the Animals is an entertaining musical suite of fourteen movements by Camille Saint-Saëns. The work was composed for private performance by an ensemble of two pianos and solo instruments. The Swan (No. 13) is one of the most popular of the fourteen movements. In its entirety, it lasts about 25 minutes. Saint-Saëns Background Charles-Camille Saint-Saëns (1835 – 1921) was, by all means, in particular, a famous French composer, brilliant organist, and significant musical mastermind of the Romantic era. Indeed, his most famous compositions, in the long run, including his Piano Concerto No. 2 (1868), Cello Concerto No. 1 (1872), and the Danse macabre (1874). Notwithstanding, we must also add Violin Concerto No. 3 (1880), Symphony No. 3 (the Organ Symphony, 1886), it must be remembered, Carnival of the Animals (1886) to the list. Childhood It is important to realize that Saint-Saëns was certainly, in fact, a child musical prodigy. Consequently, with this in mind, he made his concert debut albeit at ten years old. Another key point to remember is that he expressly studied at the Paris Conservatoire, then in spite of reality conversely followed a traditional career path as a church organist. Nevertheless, twenty years later, on the other hand, he left to become a successful freelance pianist and composer despite, as has been noted, his former employment situation. Furthermore, his performances were after all markedly in demand - not only in Europe but above all in the Americas all in all as well. Youth A point often overlooked is that in his youth, Saint-Saëns was certainly excited about the modern music of the day. He was in essence fond of the music of his contemporaries, in particular, Schumann, Liszt, and for the most part Wagner. In contrast, however, his own compositions seemed in fact largely confined within the conservative classical tradition. Be that as it may, he was at the same time nevertheless, in fact, a scholar of musical history. Criticism On the whole, his conservatism in fact ultimately brought him into frequent conflict in his later years with composers of the impressionist and in particular the dodecaphonic schools of musical thought.  A point often overlooked is that he included neoclassical elements in his music contrary to some critics. Furthermore, in so doing he provided the most compelling evidence that he predicted the techniques and works by Stravinsky and Les Six. To put it another way, given these points, he was regarded, perhaps for the most part unfairly so, as a non-progressive reactionary henceforth around the time of his passing. Legacy To sum up, Saint-Saëns taught for a short time in Paris, where his students included namely Gabriel Fauré. To clarify, Maurice Ravel later studied with Fauré. In conclusion, both Ravel and Fauré were powerfully influenced by Saint-Saëns, whom they respected as a musical mastermind.

Jmsgu3 #3520287. Published by jmsgu3 (A0.549685). Duration: ca. 1:42, 52 measures, Score: 7 pages, solo part: 2 pages, piano part: 4 pages. A popular Christmas favorite from Tchaikovsky's Nutcracker Suite. Pyotr Ilyich Tchaikovsky Tchaikovsky is probably the most popular of the great composers in America. His music certainly appeals to musicians. Likewise, it appeals even to folks who don’t normally listen to serious music. This is probably because of his most noteworthy melodies. Above all, he writes with great emotion. This certainly makes a most noteworthy if not an unforgettable impact. Education First of all, He attended classes at the Russian Musical Society. Even more, He also attended the St. Petersburg Conservatory. There he studied music theory with Nikolai Zaremba. He also consequently studied composition with Anton Rubenstein. It seems like Rubenstein came under criticism from a group of Russian composers known as the Five. The Five The Five certainly rejected Western musical influences. They rather sought to use elements from Russian music. They furthermore wanted to use more exotic musical materials. Western Techniques More than other Russian composers, Tchaikovsky studied modern Western music. He certainly develops his music like the European masters. So, rather than repeating a motive, he moves to a new key. He then introduces a different theme in the new key. Hence, he maintained his independence from the Five. Even more, he became the first Russian composer of international stature. Influences Tchaikovsky was probably influenced in his ballet scoring by Léo Delibes. Richard Wagner influenced his symphonic writing. Tchaikovsky’s most famous works include the 1812 Overture, The Nutcracker Suite, and Swan Lake. Also famous are the Violin Concerto in D and the six symphonies. The greatest of the six symphonies may be No. 6, the Pathétique. Nutcracker Suite, Op. 71a The Nutcracker Suite is a ballet that was performed for the first time in December 1892 in St. Petersburg. To begin with, the original ballet failed to attract a positive reception. However, the ballet suite became probably one of the most popular of all of Tchaikovsky’s works. The ballet suite became even more famous in the 1960s. It is now performed all over the world, particularly during the Christmas season.

Piano,Soprano Saxophone - Level 3 - SKU: A0.549599 Composed by Peter Ilyich Tchaikovsky. Arranged by James M. Guthrie, ASCAP. Instructional,Romantic Period,Standards. Score and part. 16 pages. Jmsgu3 #3512843. Published by jmsgu3 (A0.549599). Duration: 2:30, score: 8 pages, solo part: 2 pages, piano part: 5 pages. A well-known favorite masterpiece suitable for a recital or school program. Swan Lake Op. 20 Tchaikovsky composed Swan Lake in 1875-76. To begin with, most noteworthy the ballet failed to attract a positive reception. Over time, however, the ballet became probably one of the most popular of all of Tchaikovsky’s works. The ballet was certainly first performed by the Bolshoi Ballet in Moscow.

Piano,Soprano Saxophone - Level 2 - SKU: A0.844634 Composed by Phil Beaman. 20th Century,Pop,Romantic Period,Wedding. Score and part. 9 pages. Phil Beaman #4413831. Published by Phil Beaman (A0.844634). Vintage pop romance! This accompanied instrumental solo is a Theme and Variations. For the Theme I used an extract from the 1906 hit pop song I Love You Truly by Carrie Jacobs-Bond, a celebrated female composer at the turn of century. With each variation the melody and rhythm evolve further from the original Theme. The tempo also increases slightly as you progress to each new variation. The first variation adds chromatic embellishment, the second variation syncopates the rhythm, and the third variation uses triplet patterns. More life is added to your romance with each variation! Each person who has heard this piece hears something different, but in all of them it conjures up vintage courting; and most say it would fit a soundtrack to an early silent movie. So, at heart, this piece is still a turn of the century love ballad, but livened up and fused with subtle influences from other styles and periods. Perfect for weddings where you are trying to please everyone; a bit pop, a bit classical, and totally romantic!Works equally well in a classroom or lesson studying Theme and Variations. The easy-going melody only has a range of just over an octave. Its beauty and technique suits it for any recital as well.6 minutes with repeats, 3 minutes without; 6 page score; 3 page solo partRecording is of the Cello/Piano version and doesn't take the repeats.
